  1. That's how the club present it, I don't think it's an argument that stands up though... http://nufc-ashlies.blogspot.co.uk/2014/08/how-newcastle-united-has-been-exploited.html
  2. £134m was Ashley's total purchase price I think
  3. I've said "In 4 years nufc has paid Mike Ashley £11m". It was a single payment 3 years ago, but my point was that Ashley has not been putting any money into the club for over 4 years now. Every year Newcastle foot the bill for more advertising for his company (now on a plush new telly)...AND he takes money out of the club, rather than puts it in. The debt inherited, the mortgage that became instantly repayable in full, the early spending spree on players and then relegation while already running at a loss came to a total cost of £140m. £111m accrued before relegation, £29m after. £139m outstanding in the last accounts after the £11m repayment, the £18m being repaid would leave £111m again.
  4. I asked people going to ask why 3 Puma deals in a row (from championship to Europa league) hadn't added to the clubs commercial income. Didn't get a mention
  5. They're mad on free promotion. They sell the phones at cost, so no budget for advertising. Last week they gave away a free phone every 20 minutes but you had to tweet @ 2 followers why they should get one or why you wanted one. I didn't go to that level of spamming, just the ones that need a single simple RT.
  6. No, I'm promoting it on Twitter in an attempt to win one. I'm talking about it on here because it's a phone thread.
  7. http://www.metacritic.com/movie/citizenfour Looking forward to this
  8. Mike Ashley doing a ropey santa. I clearly didn't trust him even then.
  9. Up to date comparison with iphone 6, rather than 5s.... http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/OnePlus-One,Apple-iPhone-6/phones/8603,8346
  10. Available for pre-order now and order completion for one hour on Monday afternoon.
  11. Pardew says Obertan “is a player that played a big part in the season when we finished fifth" Obertan in 11/12 Goals 1 Assists 3
  12. Yeah, he pays for a box. Free tickets are available to ex-players who visit the corporate bars and do the schmoozing that makes hospitality a big sell for the club.
  13. But I think the likes of Beresford and Howey still do all that corporate hospitality don't they? The club have stopped handing out tickets willy nilly, but there's still a role for ex-pros who want to fulfil it. Shearer doesn't want to, he wants to come and go as he pleases.
  14. There's a canny short but informative write up in this months TF by a bloke who pays for a box and for a seat in the gallowgate corner, and mixes it up where he watches from, depending on whether he has clients to entertain. I never knew every box holder is offered 4 away tickets. With 200 boxes that could be a third of the allocation going to box holders before being offered to members with the required points.
  15. I think it gives him a sense of pride that he pays to watch Newcastle just like us, which is why he's bragging about it in this interview. There's not a chance in hell that anyone is getting a free box from the club. Shearer wants a box so he pays for one. Everyone's happy. The rhetroical question of whether ex legends should have permanent free seats on offer to them is a fair one. You rarely see the directors box even half full and I would be annoyed if Micky Quinn got short shrift from ringing the club and asking for a ticket for him and a guest or two. I don't think that would happen though. Most ex-players see the quid pro quo in a situation like that and get their tickets gratis, on the understanding they'll visit a few of the executive boxes and put in some face time before/after the game, press the flesh with supporters in the exclusive areas and make the paying customers happy. If Shearer prefers to just go for the football and not be bothered by all that, it's his right but the club don't need to subsidise it.
  16. £15m pound man who earned millions upon millions in wages. Paid to watch football and getting free tickets to the majority of games he already watches. I think he can stretch to it like. Mebeez anyone who played for us and retired before 1993.
  17. How is that simple, there are thousands upon thousands not going. Do you not read Stevie McFaul? If it was easy getting the message to 2.5m north easterners that going to a Newcastle game is tabboo, even when tickets are £5, then it would have happened 5 years ago, as it is, even the people paying attention can't be disuaded from buying pies and pints while they're there!
  18. Would love to be round Stevie's house like. "Pass the salt please petal" "Whey, since ave been off the beer for 42 days I think you should get it yaself"
