  1. On the oneplus one you can go even further and uninstall Googles apps too, like newsstand and play movies Loved the 4 and 5 as phones but dismissed the Nexus 6 as it's more of a phablet and they have increased the prices significantly.

  4. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-29802368 It's always unsettling when you buy a salt cellar online and all the ads you see become ads for pepper shakers. Never considered that buying tabs on my credit card could get back to my insurer.
  5. Michael Martin is on too and an Irish lad who's written another book about all the NE clubs and it's only 40 minutes, so none of them get to dominate too much. Of the 5, 3 of them come across as intelligent, well informed followers of the club with an interest in the history. 2 of them come across like they've never read a word about what went on pre-keegan and have been asked to lighten the otherwise bookish tone with... Banter.
  6. It's available for a fiver if you're not fussed about having the old fashioned paper version. http://www.allwithsmilingfaces.co.uk/#get-the-book
  7. Latest Taylor and Besty podcast is an interview with the author. Interesting listen.
  8. Think that's Pardew's fundamental problem He seems to pick his favourite 11 players and then work out how he'll fit them into a team. Rather than having his preferred system and picking the best players available to play in their preferred roles.
  9. That was an odd one. Was he punished for tweeting about it or was he buzzing about being in a bigger provisional squad?
  10. He didn't have a chance to do shit. Came off after 44 minutes in the first game of the season with his hamstring. Returned 6 weeks later for a 20 minute cameo and then went to Argentina for the cancer operation. When he got back he was told to find another club.
  11. Strange for Pardew to claim all these changes he's made when for 10 months he was putting the shit form down to bad luck. He constantly said how hard working we were and how we just needed a break. Now he's claiming he's made all these changes, despite saying none were necessary. The ONLY vindication he could claim with a straight face is if he said "told you, our luck has changed rather than any effort level or tactics." Anyway, wrote this yesterday about how there's been no change in opinion on Tyneside, he's always been hated, not just recently. http://nufc-ashlies.blogspot.co.uk/2014/11/alan-pardews-long-term-failings.html
  12. Surprised he was more fruitful for us than Rangers. He got a goal every 2 games in the championship though. Did a good job after we lost the bigger paid wastes of space that were Owen, Martins and Viduka.
  13. The beauty of a run is that it gets the confidence flowing. That will be enough to fix the problem temporarily. Even if he played exactly the same players/formation as he did against Southamton in our next game, they'd be a totally different proposition and wouldn't play with the fear that the previous 10 months generated. Don't doubt we'll see a drop off sooner or later though.
  14. She must be having trouble selling her £2.5m home. The self-interested witch. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2158935/Myleene-Klass-puts-marital-home-sale-2-5million-Graham-Quinn-walks-out.html

  16. That still sounds like a change in personnel rather than tactics to me. Like you say, the young lads on the wings now are actually wingers, we've got a bit of pace there and up top. We've gone from dominating possession but having no ability to break down defensive minded opponents, to having no possession whatsoever but the individuals in place to expose the space left by more attack minded opponents on the break. It's the same formation, the same cagey, hard working approach, but pacier players to exploit spaces. It changed from half time against Spurs, with a double substitution he deserved credit for early in the game. I thought it was harsh of people to say he got lucky against Man City, because I thought it was a gameplan, which he derserves credit for. Man City are an ageing team, both their first and second string, no matter how skilled they are, the young lads we put out could cause them all kinds of problems with their energy and speed alone, as long as we were tight at the back too. It's been a perfect storm that it's actually worked repeatedly against some of the leagues better teams, albeit we've not beaten anyone currently in the top half. The basic problem he has hasn't been resolved though, rarely being able to break down any team that puts 10 men behind the ball, and usually conceding several to any team that comes at us with any verve.
  17. Didn't Robson want rid of Shearer as he was ailing, but Shepherd wouldn't hear of it? There's also the story of Robson enquiring with the local press why they went easy on Shearer after poor shows.
  18. I listen to a dozen podcasts and the wife pays no interest to any of them. I put Serial on while she was in the car and she was hooked, so now I have to wait till we're both there to listen to any more. So we're doing it in 10 minute chunks on the drive to work 3 mornings a week. Might finish it by next christmas. I'll have to suggest a trip to Manchester or something to get it done.
  19. Number of games lost from the last 87 games. The most recent 3 seasons worth for all PL ever present clubs. Converging on 14th.
