  1. There are clear changes in approach over the 7 years depending where the club were tbf. Spent to try get fans on side. Slash and burn sales to steady the wage bill Moderate investment for promotion and to secure PL status. Spent more in summer than in the previous 5 summers combined in a limited attempt to push on.
  2. His new feature length doc is available on iPlayer http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p02gyz6b/adam-curtis-bitter-lake
  3. I've no doubt we'll spend well in the summer if we stop up. I had no doubt we would do better than Carver too though, but that's waning.
  4. For all the online complaining, attendance's at SJP are on the rise. Last summer the club spent more than in the previous 5 summers combined. Anyone considering cancelling hates Ashley anyway. He's happy to see the back of them and potentially embarrassing opposition. I don't necessarily think people that cancel will be rushing back in droves, there will be plenty that full those spaces though.
  5. Club doing all they can to get fans to cancel those fixed price deals ahead of a top class appointment and big summer spending.
  6. Barton, Perch, Ben Arfa... I'm sure there's more.
  7. Exactly. Ironically, given the condition of Hawking, Turing was too much of a robot to empathise with as much.
  8. Theory of Everything was better than Imitation Game.

  10. Spotify is great for trying new music but shite for building your own music library up to tens of thousands of tracks. With Plex I can access all my music from my home server on my phone without using storage. I can access iTunes smart playlists and podcasts so no need for a podcast app that uses up phone space. And as mentioned, with chromecast I can throw films and TV shows onto my tv from my PC using my phone/tablet. The ONLY problem is I can't shuffle iTunes playlists, so I want to set up some plex playlists that I can shuffle. No chance that I'm doing it a song at a time so i want to use filters. For some reason I'm not offered filters like year, date added, artist, length etc just genre and collection. I've seen screenshots of other people having other filters but cant work out how to get them.

    Plex

Love Plex, using it more and more for music. Anyone got any idea why none of my tags show up as filters though? How do I add them?
  12. The biggest profit any premier league football club ever reported is £50m. I think SD are up to £250m a year or summat aren't they? That's his bread & butter.
  13. How Newcastle United Has Been Exploited For The Gain Of Sports Direct http://nufc-ashlies.blogspot.com/2014/08/how-newcastle-united-has-been-exploited.html
  14. I'm not a big Slipknot fan or owt, liked the first album, but thought they were excellent when I saw them live.
  15. Thought I'd seen this exact sentiment somewhere else today..... https://twitter.com/EPLchitchat/status/558243685263888385
  16. I find it difficult to agree with much of what is written there, simply because every time anyone at the club says a word it's immediately pulled apart and exposed as horseshit. By me more than most. I think it's easy to judge the club on their actions without needing words. I give them stick for the lies, the rhetoric, the random approach to ticket pricing, the harmful deals that benefit Sports Direct and hurt Newcastle. But it can go too far and claims of Ashley using the club as a cash cow, pocketing tv money and all that sort of nonsense are ridiculous. I object to him loaning the club money and paying himself back having got the club relegated, but it's stated in the accounts that the objective is to pay that loan off as soon as possible. There's no lack of transparency there. The club is yet to report an operating profit, and has huge debt. It will remain a club in limbo until the immediately repayable debt is satisfied. That much is clear to anyone observing with as much as a passing interest. It would make no sense for Charnley to come out and say as much, because that would impact on ticket sales and slow down the recovery, but anyone who doesn't realise and still goes to cup games thinking this could be our year isn't paying attention.
  17. Our revenue was £24m ahead of Southampton last year. Players sold in summer won't contribute to accounts to the end of June. Luke Shaw might be included but that's about it. You've been listening to Pardew too much thinking they've got clout.
  18. I reckon the club will report the biggest profits any club has ever reported in the Premier League...
  19. I was interested to see the percentages but I'm not sure it told us anything It's a narrow view of where Sports Direct sales are, whether in store or online. Supporters living in their home city are more likely to buy a strip from the club shop than from Sports Direct though, as they perceive the purchase as a contribution to the club coffers being better than supporting Sports Direct. That's true for Man U, Man City, Newcastle and any other club. Canny bit of publicity though, stirring the regional rivalry and putting the suggestion into the mind of locals to go out and buy a shirt.
  20. Loved GBH, terrific fun. If anyone else who liked it missed the Wes Anderson symmetry videos, they're well worth a watch.... http://www.toontastic.net/board/topic/374-film-you-most-recently-watched/page-730#entry1268615
  21. Big Hero 6 Just about hit the 6 laugh requirement. Nephew preferred Thor which we watched the night before. Wife didn't. Nowt to separate them afaic.
