  1. Not at all. Ashley is the only one holding us back. None of his personal wealth used to push us on. No income from advertising, seemingly no income from the kit manufacturer or from our retail wing. Big reduction in matchday income due to a clearly stated lack of any ambition in any competition. These are the restrictions he places on the club, outside of that (and a £29m loan we've known about for 4 years which should now be fully paid off) the club reinvests what it earns on transfers, wages and facilities. Filling the stadium every week contributes to that. In a way, it's no different to the way Shepherd ran the club in that neither of them sacrifice any of their money. Ashley waits until the club has money and then lets the club spend it, nothing wasted on finance. Shepherd secured loans on the future crowds showing up to spend while the club was in debt but cost us up to £8m a year on finance. Long term, Ashley's is the sustainable approach. It's just a load of shit waiting for it to pay dividends, but that's why I'm more excited for next season than many before.
  2. Appeal rejected. Misses Arsenal, Mackems and Liverpool.
  3. I still enjoy going to the game. Vicariously through my nephew for the most part as he gets really excited about it, but even sat with the old lads for the Man U game closer to the Strawberry corner, I still enjoyed the moderate chanting and the "craic", not just of my mates but of the regulars that sit round there. Saying it would be the same in the pub is bollocks. Not sure why I need my head read for doing something I enjoy. Anyone berating someone for going to the match when there's no coordinated boycott in place wants their head read and anyone claiming that a fan who has stopped going is a poorer fan for it wants their head read too. Sick of seeing nufc fans telling other nufc fans what they're doing wrong. People at the game and people not at the game could all get behind efforts to remove Ashley. Very few of them do. Those that do are more often than not the target of worse abuse than anyone who goes or not.
  4. unfortunately we are. I did chuckle the other day when I read about the kids being ready to step up and fill in for Abeid though. Like I tweeted last night...
  5. Rather do that with experienced lads than whack some 17 year old in for a derby debut.

  7. **Spoilers** I thought the demise of Nucky was perfect. Through the whole series I've rarely seen him as a monster, like Tony Soprano regularly was in The Sopranos. It was only when he killed Jimmy early on that I thought what a bastard he was, everything else was justifiable as business, but when the kid was revealed as Jimmy's bairn (which I hadn't guessed) it all stacked up what he's done to the lad. Not only killing his dad and leaving his gran destitute (then indirectly sent to the asylum - having pushed her to prostitution as a teen) but also giving Richard the job that killed him when he was supposed to be bringing the lad up in a happy foster family. The lad just turning up late in the series and doing him in was a fast turnaround, but they put the legwork in over the series to motivate it. That said, there was no need to spend any of the time they did in the asylum I think. A lot of effort seemed to be put into tying up the stories of incidental characters. Gillian was a main character, but she started the last series in the asylum and finished there. They could have left her out of it. Chalky escaped from the chain gang, freed that lassy who was sent on her way with her bairn and got killed by Narcisse... who also got shot. None of those characters had much impact on Nucky from the moment he went to Cuba, I was less interested in the hours of the show dedicated to their ultimate fates.
  8. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is supposed to be good. New from Tina Fey. We're watching Walking Dead again and it's still complete wank. Better than the other dross clogging up our Tivo though, and she wasn't fussed on the last 2 seasons of Boardwalk Empire we just finished so I compromise. Enjoyed Gemmil being ignored. Jinx isn't on showbox though, so probably won't get round to that until it is.
  9. Home I saw on Friday was about a multi color alien helping a girl find her mam. It was canny.

  11. It's only a 10 day course, so should be over soon if it is that.
  12. I'm on antibiotics and getting proper anxiety about work. keeps me awake when I go to bed. First thought I have when I awake and can't get back to sleep. Could the 2 be related? Doesn't seem to be a listed side effect on the pamphlet. But I normally couldn't give a shit about work. Feels weird.
  13. I still get flash backs to Venison's jacket in the post match interview, no recollection of the goal though.
  14. Thompers saw LM as a role model... http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,7134.msg533371/topicseen.html#msg533371 They're exactly the same.
  15. They got dozens of stories out of it so clearly it doesn't need that much detail. Made this up, but all it would take is one single line message Receptionist - "Mr Gascoigne, this is Doc Johnson from xyz clinic confirming your appointment at 2pm" Then a photographer hot foots it down the clinic and snaps Gazza arriving with his ex-wife. Sunday back page - "Shezza helping Gazza through rehab" Each of those 2 then assumes the other has tipped the wink to someone. Have you never even watched The Conversation? It would drive anyone potty.
  16. Am I missing something or is Gazza still not clear on what they did to "hack" his phone? He's talking about clicks during calls as if they were listening in on his conversations. it was only messages being hacked, right? Can't say he's trying it on necessarily like. Imagine if his family are leaving messages and stories off the back of them end up in the press, both sides assuming the other has sold it for a quick buck. Must have put an awful wedge between him and his nearest. No wonder he ends up on his own drinking rather than in the bosom of a happy family. Deserves every sympathy and every penny from those heinous bastards. Amazed there's not been any suicides linked to it, yet.
  17. Mint. You're blatantly more excited than he will be mind
  18. 3 I submitted this morning. We'll see if they make the next set of minutes in the same format.
  19. Nufc don't own that land any more. Ashley does.
  20. Shit Stevie. What a Bastard of a few years you've had. Thoughts with you.
  21. I think sackpardew had an impact on Pardew's decision to go though.
