Apologies for my presumptiosness. Obviously black people should be pro-active in looking for opportunities. I just don't agree that it's as simple as leaving it up to them. Lawlessness is glamourised to white people as much as black. Lawlessness is an option that appeals more to the poor. Most black people in the UK are poor therefore crime appeals to most black people, if more black people were given opportunities for work, they wouldn't need to turn to crime.

But the only 'problem' is the boyfriend being black. He actually does very well in a good job, nice car, clothes, all round good egg. If the daughter brought home a zinc deficient rat-boy charver chugging on a bottle of Lambrini, that should be a 'problem'. To call his blackness a problem is racist. PS. DAMNIT!!

Because most workplace interviews are based on a half hour chat and a CV. When you can't decide, then I think swaying towards a non-white or non-male applicant is valid for the sake of workplace equality (or if it's a job predominantly done by womer, err towards giving it to a male applicant). Getting into a team is based on years of past knowledge of a player and what they're going to bring. You're never going to think two places are the same. Throughout the rest of the club positive discrimination should be encouraged. A few years back every member of bar-staff in the Leazes was 'non-white' as much as I encourage positive discrimination, half of them couldn't even speak English and were incapable of doing the job well. There must have been complaints because the staff now seem a lot more able to understand what is being ordered.

?? Run that one past me again. It's rational to have an irrational hatred of someone to the detrement of your own childs happiness?? The working class white person in britain associates far more frequently with other races, they have more mixed race relationships, produce more mixed race offspring. Generally due to the fact that most other races are predominantly working class too. As much as MPs spout off their PC garbage, the majority of them would be horrified if their daughter married a black man. PS. I wrote a much longer response then pressed escape so this will have to do.

Now that's bullshit. The Police Force is a racist institution, as admitted at its highest level. Would you want to apply for a job where you're going to get abused daily? Not just by the people you're policing but by your co-workers? Oh aye racism is all down to black people having a persecution complex. Jesus. They have been persecuted and have every right to have a bit of a complex. My cousin has been told by 3 separate girls (who he liked and was 'intimate with') that they couldn't actually go out with him because their dads would kill them. You know what it's like to hear that? I mean, people get dumped for good reasons and turn to drink, but being dumped because of someone elses ignorance will give you a bit of a chip on your shoulder. With every passing generation things get better. Working class people are probably the least racist (since most black people are working class) and I think football would be far more inviting than rugby.

Eh? it's an analogy, why would it refer to all dogs. It's not like 1 black person has been abused, every black person in the UK has probably been victimised at some point. Oops, that's right. Ok amend it, the scrawny dog should be given more for a while to built its strength up.
-
A positive discrimination analogy for you. 2 dogs have an owner who trusts them to divvy up their food between themselves. Everyday a big pile of scran arrives. One dog gets there first and wolfs it down while the other dog was looking the other way. This goes on every day for years. The dog who constantly ate grows big and strong, the other one who lived on scraps and dust is weak and frail. In the end the RSPCA does the owner for cruelty and the 2 dogs are sent to a new home. Should the new owner split the food into 2 separate bowls for the dogs or trust that it'll sort itself out and keep putting out 1 big bowl? You've got to take from one dog to help the other dog.

No, you're misrepresenting what I say quite a bit there. There's a difference between 'highlighting' someones skin colour negatively to cause harm or pain or to hinder their progression; and pointing out the most distinguishing feature about them in order to identify them. My point is directed precisely against the 80's PC brigade who got it in their heads that any reference to a persons skin colour is wrong. Sorry, I've remembered I've seen a few black coppers too, but they were all on telly, so they were more black actors. I don't know what you mean 'Fast track'? What I'm saying is a black applicants to the police force should be looked upon very favourably and if they meet the entry criteria encouraged in every way to join. I'm coming accross as a right crusader here. I'm not (see the bad taste thread).

And I just heard Rosa Parks has died. RIP

I'm not saying anyone on here or anyone at Newcastle is racist, but that society is. Looking at my earlier posts and yours I think we agree. Look at the number of black role models in the world of football compared to the number of black fans that go to games. It's entirely disproportionate. Simply because football crowds were (for a long time) under fear of white thugs. Fear of the abuse, rather than the actuality keeps people away. I agree you'll see black people out on the town with a younger crowd, but rarely in quieter locals or working mens clubs. Until black people are invited warmly into these places I won't be convinced there isn't an underlying problem. It wasn't a dig at HTT, it was my opinion on his comment. I'm sure HTT is a lovely bloke, all be it with a shark problem (sharkist?). I got the same story from an English teacher at school who said her son did the same thing, and it sends out the wrong message, that it's offensive to be black and be recognised as such. If kids are still being told that's the way to think then it'll be a long time till racism isn't a problem.

Some changes need to be made around here I think. How can I possibly be in the first team squad when I'm 26th based on post count? A squad should be 22 people. 25 people, tops. Do you automatically go in the squad when you hit a certain number? Well then that's silly too because we'll all end up in there.

Wasn't Justin Fashanu openly gay while playing. It's certainly why Clough had the police escort him away from training when he refused to leave.

"I, Philip Spector, with hair like this claim to be of sound mind and body, and hereby swear to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth" "guilty"
-
See, I knew it. If I'm looking at two people one of which is black and I want to point him out to someone, I'll say "the black one". That's not racist, that's descriptive. The idea of being 'colour blind' is quite distasteful I think. It has a negative connotation. As if to say "I don't mind that your black" Well why would you? Is it a bad thing to be black? The prejudice has to be removed from the victim and placed on the racist.
-
He sits in the posh seats man, they just say it quietly under their breath "Good lord, isn't the little black fellow terribly vaginal!"
-
That's class. Totally the style I'm after.
-
Yeah, but apparently you can't slag off the black players. That's racist. 48861 Thats not racist. Your comment, however, is churlish. 48864 Me? A churl? I've never been so offended
-
Yeah, but apparently you can't slag off the black players. That's racist.

Sorry if I repeat anyone here, board went a bit funny on me... The first paragraph is weak. Is the black white ratio 52,000:1? I can't find the stats but I'd guess it would be a lot higher than that (or should that be lower ) The second paragraph is misguided. Do you not believe the police force should be representative of the nation. Personally I have never seen a single black policeman. That is an absolute disgrace. The institutionally racist force is not an attractive prospect to intelligent black people. They know they'll be in for a rough ride if they join. I think the police force is one of the few places where I'd hire a weaker candidate as long as he/she was capable. Two wrongs don't make a right? Yes they do -2-3 = 1. Seriously though, a more fitting statement would be billions upon billions of wrongs over hundreds of years followed by a few decades of wrongs against the original wrongdoers for the purposes of eradicating the ongoing wrongdoing don't make a right. Try saying that 3 times fast! Edit:
-
Exactly. And a terrible state of affairs that would be. But it wouldn't happen to you that often and would only be until true equality is reached. See how angry you get about one bit of discrimination. Can you imagine being black and getting that every day of the week?
-
why should what happened 300 years ago ivolving people im in no way related to affect me getting a job? its like me saying ''aye but i wouldnt give the job to the black lad cos i was racially abused by a black man a couple of years ago.'' 48822 Ignoring the fact that black people are still the victims of racism far moreso than white people.... The fact that black people are generally the poorest in developed nations stems from historical racism. It's not enough to say "we're all equal" when we're obviously not (How many black people did you see at the match on Sunday? In the pub before or after? where you work(other than cleaners)). What is required is a system of integration that accelerates the equilibrium of all races in society. That system is positive discrimination. Don't think of it as paying for what your ancestors did, but investing in future generations who can live in a world without racism. Fingers crossed.

Your verbal dexterity has convinced me that my opinion was ill thought out and foolish. I apologise to everyone for being so moronic. Do you have a newsletter I can subscribe to in order to learn more of your teachings?

But I'm black! Did you assume that us po' old boys couldn't afford computers? With regard to your 'more difficult for black people in the workplace' I'm all for positive dicrimination. A lot of people on here I seem to remeber think it's bollocks, and in the world of football I'd agree. If you have 2 people who seem to be identical in ability, then I think the black person should get the job. This is small retribution for the long history of abuse they and their ancestors have received. The thing is Football managers don't interview and far more of a footballers past is known to call any 2 identical.
