My mate stood for 3 hours and they sold out when he was 20 odd places from the front. Canny funny really.

A former pop flop. He sang "I Breathe Again" after a short stint in Coronation Steet.

I locked myself out of the house today. When I looked through the letterbox the cat was sat there. "Let me in" I said. The cat responded "Me? How?"

And all gone by 6:20! 88337 Isn't that just your selected outlet? Been making regular checks on my mate in the Q and they're still being served at the box office. Only 200 tickets apparently, he reckons he's about 100th, so it doesn't look good, but....keep them crossed.

Sshshs. Keep it quiet, don't want everyone clogging up phone lines do we? 88282 Fuckin' impossible! Sold out already.... 88305 Mmmm. Lucky it's a sham and they'll be adding dates/extra tickets all over the shop in a few weeks. I've also got the backup of a mate in the Q at the academy. He'd best succeed. Slightly above average as they are, it'll be a QUALITY gig. 88309 These are the extra gigs as they are currently touring with the NME tour... 88312 Really? They're second on the bill for the NME tour. I was guessing their own headline tour would be more extensive. Looking at the dates, I don't suppose they'd squeeze any more in except at the end. But I'm sure they'll release another batch of tickets later on.

Hang on! If Northern Goals beat Straylight Run in the last round, why do they have to play them again in this round? Shouldn't I (Fact Hunt XI) be playing Northern goals because I seem to be otherwise omitted from the draw. This is the second time you've tried to gip me AND you only put 7 teams through! I vote that next season someone else takes on the role of david Davies

Worth a tenner of anyones money at 15's. Man U or Liverpool out in the next round, we'll drop to second favourites at around 5's or 11/2.
-
I think they've actually extended. 15/1 on Betfair atm.

That's a bit harsh, I'd get rid of Alan Murray, Dean Saunders, Terry McDermott and Paul Winsper for certain. Not sure about Derek Wright or Paul ferris, they don't seem able to judge a players fitness, unless Souness was constantly over-ruling them. I don't know who David Mills has brought to the club, so can't comment. Tommy Craig, Roy Tunks, Kenny Wharton & Peter Beardsley have done nowt wrong as far as i can see.

I think it is a given his merry band of cronies will be booted out too like. 87987 Whey, nee-one's said owt. And i can't see us getting a new manager until England have one. So we'll have them here for a while yet.

2 questions spring to mind... 1. Why did it take this long? You would hope it's because Shephard has been combing leagues around the world for a top class replacement and only this morning got written confirmation that he's got his man. You would imagine it's because he really wanted to hold onto the money he's had to pay out and He's even less prepared than he was when Robson went. Except now the national job is up for grabs so any manager with a bit of ambition is pinning his hopes on getting that. 2. Why just Souness? Just as bad are the backroom team he brought with him.

Aye. I'd not seen In the Mood for Love though. Don't know how much of a difference it makes but I was very confused.

But Memoirs of a Geisha is an original film, not a remake. As I said, the only problem i have with remakes is they rarely offer anything new. There was no need for an Oldboy remake because it already exists. There was no need for Japanese actors in Geisha because none of it's core audience would notice. I'm struggling to see where one argument defies the other.
-
I don't see the contradiction. Remaking an already great film to cash in on its past or foreign success is just a lack of originality. It's that lack of originality I despise. The fact that studio films are made to appeal to a mass market is a good thing, the more money Geisha makes, the more can be invested in smaller, imaginative films. (I also don't think an Oldboy remake will make much money, especially with the director currently attached to it). I believe almost no-one notices the inconsistency of accents in the west. I also believe that the bulk of people complaining about it don't recognise the difference in accents but take on the argument from a small number that have. I prefer to criticise a film on my own terms rather than other peoples. I'm not saying anyone here didn't notice, for all I know you could be steeped in Asian culture. You could be Japanese.
-
.... okay, great 87798 ...I don't get it! Are you mocking me, Mr Gambini?
-
5 premiership goals in the last calender year. We'd be lucky to get much if it was really him.
-
Do a western audience care in general? I wouldn't have a clue what the difference between a Chinese and Japanese accent was when they are speaking English. I imagine very few do. I can see why an Asian audience might think it's shite, like we think Dick Van Dyke is in Mary Poppins, but as it's an American film for an American audience I don't see the problem. They want to make money, it was an expensive film to make. Thick Americans will only watch films in English with famous people. If it wasn't going to be a low budget arthouse thing, that's all they could do. By the way, if you want to see a good Chinese film about a poor little girl being sold into slavery try The King of masks. It's great.
-
I don't understand the complaints about it being in English or having Japanese actors in Chinese roles. Look at Doctor Zhivago, The Ten Commandments or Julius Caesar, you can still make a good film with actors playing another nationality. The only thing I didn't like was the story itself, I think Geisha's being bought and sold into a life of prostitution shouldn't be romanticised, the "I will be the best Geisha" thing stunk. It looked fantastic, great set design, costumes & make up I just couldn't stomach the melodrama.

Spot on. People wank over it. "Above average" for me. 87719 "Gimme some Tots" "Do the chickens have large talons?" "I caught you a delicious bass."
