1. All Quiet On The Western Front - Probably even better than Paths of Glory. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon. On The Waterfront - "It was you Charly, it was you!" Double Indemnity - Classy
2. I think what's best about Big Brother is that the tasks aren't the focus of the show. Very little of the airtime that I've seen is dedicated to their efforts on the tasks. Look at I'm a Celebrity and desparate to get on TV, it's whole thrust is toward getting a c-lister to eat a cockroach which quickly becomes boring. The BB producers seem to realise that a failed task leaving a reduced budget leads to hungry, miserable, sober housemates which doesn't entertain. In making the tasks simpler there is far more scope for drunken antics of a humorous nature.
3. Channel 4 have commissioned series 8 for next year, then the contract with Endemol is up and apparentlly ITV are look ing to wrestle it away from them. Surely that would be it's death knell.
4. An interesting and insightful debate on the merits of "reality" tv. Well done.
5. The fact that occassionaly someone from the show becomes a low rent celebrity is entirely separate to the quality of the show itself, which in my opinion has proven to be an excellent format and continues to be so. 181262 Good & honest/disabled. 181264 The fact that he's disabled is entirely separate to the fact that he's a genuinley nice bloke. If someone with tourettes went in and behaved like a cock, they'd get chucked straight out.
6. "This must stop." But it's ok to remake classics like Jaws, Jason and The Argonauts and Westworld? I wouldn't mind seeing a remake of M, something to really take the piss out of the News of The World.
7. As I said on another forum... The fact that occassionaly someone from the show becomes a low rent celebrity is entirely separate to the quality of the show itself, which in my opinion has proven to be an excellent format and continues to be so.
8. No fault of the show though. I find that as I don't read Heat or listen to Radio 1 it rarely intrudes into my life outside of watching the actual show on tv.
9. Why are BB haters so embittered by it? I'm not a fan of Monarch of the Glenn. I wouldn't bother myself with heaping criticism on it at every opportunity though. I just don't watch it and get on with life.
10. Lazarus is the first person I've ever known that's happy to admit they read the Daily Mail.
11. Sod U2, go and see Graham Russell. The man is a genius... He might have mentioned his website, but I can't remember the address.
12. at Patrokles. Very funny. I'm just watching the replay here and I think I love this show more than any other. Could it be better than the Sopranos?
13. I'd like to apologise to everyone. In my pissed up state I was obviously in a live and let live kind of mood. Sobriety has returned me to my standard cynical viewpoint. And I stand by the opinion I posited many moons ago.....
14. No. Nor have I seen the original.
15. I guess Pete won then? Champion. He was a good lad.
16. It's the cynicism of it, though. The Wicker Man is just the latest in a long line of (very specific, genre-wise) remakes, and you can bet that the directors and the studios aren't doing it to raise the exposure of the old films. It's laziness and greed. 180848 Course not. But if a film is worth remaking, it's got to be canny in the first place. If I watch a shit remake, I think to myself "why was it worth remaking?" and go to the original. It doesn't do any harm.
17. Kids today wouldn't watch the wicker man. If a shit remake makes them investigate the origional? Champion.
18. I'm on my reserves already and it resembles a stick of rhubarb, any other ideas? 180658 Send Bluf over at N-O a PM. No-one's down to host tonights session in "The Lounge". You can get moderator privelges and hold court over the plebs. 180667 I would rather slit my wrists with a blunt stick. 180669 So would I if you were hosting But a night of Wacky's repartee could be canny funny.

20. Listen to yourself, you goon! You're right, like, I found the film offensive, but that's down to my taste. It did break new ground, mind you, Cat Woman broke new ground in that I didn't know if I was watching Halle Berry or CGI half the time, not sure that's a positive. 180607 Barry Norman wishes he could spout shite like that man. Can't agree on your other point though. CGI actors were used in loads of stuff from Dire Straits' Money for Nothing video to T2. Then there was Matrix Reloaded, Spiderman and Lord Of The Rings before Catwoman.
