Surely you can change the background on any phone!! For me it means removing the google search bar from the home screen, dropping the number of screens down to 2, setting the grid to display 7*5 objects rather than 5*4, using a small Google Now widget at the top of the screen rather than the Now launcher that is standard on the Nexus, removing half of the google apps I'll never use from the phone entirely which are locked in on some most android models, switching the actions on the menu button or the back button so a long press opens the camera or contacts list etc.

Haha, aye. Not paying £300 off the phone price towards branding is one of the main benefits. My lass has a Samsung S6 and I'm particularly jealous of the screen which pops far better than the oneplus, and the removal of NFC is a disappointment just as payments are looking to take off, but for bloatware free, pure android, customisability & long battery life at half the price I'll live with the shortcomings.

That's what I like about the Benedict Evans article. No-one can show you a killer feature that makes it must have. I've never wore a watch, because I have the time on my phone, but I know most people prefer to glance at their watch rather than their phone. It's nothing more than that principle (glancing at your watch is easier than your phone) expanded to reminders, texts, tweets, directions, track skipping, volume adjusting etc. I fear, like looking at the time, I'd still be happier using my phone for all those things. But for those that wear a watch I assume the benefits they get from using it to tell time would be the same for all those other features.

Aye, minging. Would rather waste £100 than £300 though. That said, looks like you can get the Urbane for about £200 which might be a bigger waste if they're shite, but at least I wouldn't be embarrassed to wear it, so it would have a chance.

Got an invite and ordered a oneplus 2 yesterday. Not sure it's worth my while when my oneplus 1 is only a year old and still champion, but at the price it would be rude not to.
