A new phrase to enter my vocab, like Sod's Law and Catch 22, "Shola's Hip" will forever be used to ridicule someone who can't see the patently obvious. "No wonder the clutch has gone pet, you ride it like Shola's hip!"

I can't see why they'd have to pay visiting teams, if you want to play in the competition you have to go and play away from home. When Real come to your ground you'll be able to sell the rights for a lot more. Is there really a law that says they must get half? Would be a bit unfair if a nobody team got the same money as the team that's the massive draw. Like giving the bloke who plays 2nd janitor on the left the same as Tom Cruise. Don't the visiting team get half the TV money in the FA Cup? I know they get half the gate receipts, unlike the Carling/UEFA Cups where the home team keeps it all. Probably, but I think that's tradition rather than law.

Absoloute Horse shit. Violent porn but with less believable characters and plotting masquerading as arthouse fare. Kermode loves it though -

I wouldn't want to put anyone off because lots of people love it, but I hate middle class posh boys doing sci-fi Hitch-hikers guide style with a passion. -

Muse were awesome, until they decided to release an album of Casualty theme tune reworkings.

The Maltese Falcon is probably my favourite film. I can watch it all the way through whenever it's on (about once a week on TCM). The whole cast is superb but I particularly like Peter Lorre. I totally agree with that assesment of Shadow Of A Doubt too. You seen The Picture Of Dorian Grey yet? No I read your reminder, but I didn't have a. the day off b. a video recorder or c. TCM. So I felt bad and didn't respond. Cheers though, I will get the DVD. -
collection of series = show That only works for comedy really. Does it? I thought The Sopranos and 24 were great shows, but apparently they're not, they're great boxsets.

"Series 1 of The Office" for example is the singular use if you are referring to the series as a whole. Caveat: I think. Aha. A singular collective word to describe a single collection in a collection of collections. My brain hurts. Regardless HF, there was clearly no need for the original apostrophe! I wouldn't go so far as "clearly". Some of us don't tune in to Never Mind The Full Stops every week.

I'm informed it's old, but I've never seen it and laughed...

Shadow Of a Doubt - Keeping the current board trend for Hitchcock films going. Apparently it's his personal favourite of his own films. It never quite hooked me in completely. Joseph Cotten is always good value, Hume Cronyn is brilliant, the fat stupid women speech is supoib and compared with most films it's top notch, but working my way through the classics as I am at the moment it didn't compete with The Apartment, Strangers on a Train, Touch of Evil or... The Maltese Falcon - I knew very little about this tbh. Watching the oldies, you always have a few classic lines that you've seen and heard hundreds of times already, but apart from the finale that never really happened to me with this. Extraordinary for such a class film, I pissed myself at "When you're slapped, you'll take it and like it." Why have I not heard that before? Excellent stuff. -
I could never work out how it would work that a club could sell their own tv rights. The only way I could see it working is if it was home games only. £600 million seems a lot for what would only be 180 home games at the most. over £3million per game?

Who's the most and least predictable poster?
Happy Face replied to Happy Face's topic in General Chat
A tad harsh? I reckon he'd take it in the spirit in which it was intended. at least I'd hope so. A very fair assessment. But I try to restrict that predictability to a certain couple of threads. Mark Kermode doesn't give a fuck if Roeder should stay or go. -
The last page of Sima's posts includes.... What a barrel of laughs....funniest thing is, he's got the gall to say... Maybe one day he'll surprise everyone with a bit of positivity about something. Until then I'll ignore the WUM king.

Plural of series is series, if that's what you mean. So if I was talking about a final from a certain series would I write "the third series's final was best"? or "the third series' final was best"? or "the third series final was best"?

Peter Kay is in no posistion to take the piss out of anyone tbh. Neither is any twat on here tbh, especially you. Yet the shit-ripping persists.
-
You can't argue with facts. Roeder! Roeder!
-
Sorry but... "Hi Curly, killed anyone today?" "The day ain't over yet..." Sorry! Why do I have to be such a twat about these unimportant things?

Who's the most and least predictable poster?

Not quite. Should have read... Brock - "The lass I'm trying to shag is in no way related to this topic. But I do play Ice Hockey!" -

Wacky - "...anyway, I left her face like a plasterers radio" -

Forgot... Brock - "The lass I'm trying to shag is in no way related to this topic." -
For me the most would be one of the following... Sima - "whatever just got posted is shit" Patrokles - "That band are shit try this one, they're less well known but that's everyone else's fault" Alex - Leazes - "Kill The Iraqis. Shepherd is a god!" Jimbo - "I'm off for a wank" Peasepud - "here's a witty picture, view it now on PEASEPUD.COM" Least predictable must be Bobby Shinton. His variance is boundless.
