The first of them is on Film4 at 1.10am tonight if anyone else fancies it.... -
The film is okay, but it's the kind of book that's impossible to translate well to the screen, simply because of its unique narrative perspective. Part of the beauty of the book is just that. The narrative voice is central to its brilliance. Lovely soundtrack though.

Longford - Currently available for free on the (channel) Four on Demand service. It's a superb feature length film that was on last year about Lord Longford, his insistence on giving Myra Hindley the benefit of the doubt and Ian Brady's attempts to distance him from her. Jim Broadbent and Andy Serkis are excellent. That Myra was one cold bitch. Attack The Gas Station - 1999 Korean modern classic about four teenagers who rob a gas station, then bored the next night, do it again. There's no money this time though, so they hang about to serve customers and keep the money. Every customer that pisses them off is held hostage though and there's soon anarchy. It's as much about the kids as Godzilla is about a Lizard though. Very enjoyable. -
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6229885.stm I wonder if Freddie isn't keeping the purse strings tight until all takeover possibilities are done and dusted.

My mate got one. He followed this rather thorough guidance... http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=121357

From .com Personally I think it's an intersting but not quite fair comparison. I don't think the performances have been anywhere near as consistently wretched as they'd gotten in the last months of the Souness era.

Christmas special. BBC4 Now -
I know it's only the second but as desparate as we've been to sign someone (anyone) and as much as everyone at the club has harped on about desparately needing the transfer window to come around so we can get them, it all seems to be rather quiet. Have they not been working feverishly on negotiations to get peopole in ASAP when the window opened? I fear another last minute scramble for entirely uninspiring signings. Dilly dallying could cost us a place in the cup, never mind the points available through January.

Happy new year to you and yours. ...but remember kids, every day is a new start, if you smoke a tab, have a pint, eat a cake or whatever it doesn't mean you can't start again the next day.

The Princess Bride All I knew before viewing was that this was a very popular film made by the same bloke that did Spinal Tap. I always thought it was a low budget fantasy that people loved as kids but wouldn’t stand up to a first viewing 20 years late. I didn’t realize it was such star studded fun for kids and grownups. It starts with Columbo visiting a sick Kevin Arnold off of The Wonder Years, apparently Columbo’s his grandfather and he’s come to tell him a story. That story revolves around a farmboy who joins forces with Andre The Giant and the eyeball off of Monsters Inc, to do battle with the fat one off Not The Nine O’Clock News and Nigel Tuffnell (who, it explains, was good on guitar because he had 6 fingers); and to win back the princess Jenny (or Jinny as Forrest Gump insists on calling her). Highly recommended swashbuckler. Paradise Now 2 lifelong friends in Palestine who work in a garage are selected for a suicide bomb attack. Where Munich was so scared of causing offence it took twice as long in allowing every single character from both sides to offer their point of view, this film succinctly and entertainingly is able to avoid condemning any view, but by looking at just one side of the coin. Superbly done. -
Saturday Superstore, shirley ? The show that was on was called It all started with Swap Shop and had the best bits from them all. Including that.

I watched that last week. Loved the bit where he was ranting on about camping right in the grizzlys territory and no one esle should do it except him because he's at one with them etc etc, then the narrator says "this was the last recording he made before he was savaged to death by a grizzly", what a wanker Werner Herzog is hilarious Total oddball, said he was there by himslef when he had that lass with him all the time, what was all that about? He likes profiling madmen. He did one about Klaus Kinski called "My Best Fiend" and a lot of that is hilarious too. -
