Don't know wher eyou go to/from but I go from South Shields to Longbenton and back everyday and it's rare that I have a day that I don't need to show my pass. I know a load of people that used too bump it and pay up when fined, but have started paying for each trip because it's not economically viable with the frequency of fines anymore. Must have changed then but I still use it about twice a week and literally never show my pass. I used to use it much more frequently - 10 times a week and still never showed my pass (less than once a month easily). When I use it now, I'm going from the airport to Benton at a busy time (or going into town on a weekend) and when I used to use it every week day (up until about 4 months ago) I was going from Benton to Town/Gateshead and back. Find it difficult to believe it's changed that much on those routes as that certainly isn't my experience when I still use it. In the four months since I've only used it once or twice a week I've never had to show my pass once. That explains it then. You aren't going through Jarra or North Shields.

Full list with minor categories. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6290905.stm I've not seen any of the nominees for sound, but I'd have voted for World Trade Centre.

Yeah, but don't bother watching it. It's shit.

which one is that Meenzer? The Queen Edit: No pun intended Aye, that. I mean it's not a bad film, but surely there's nothing in its scope that makes it remotely Oscar-worthy? The curse of Driving Miss Daisy returns.

Why is Borat "adapted"?

I won't bother with another thread. Nice to see Mark Whalberg nominated this year. He was quality.

An email. Could be bollocks. Sounds about right though.

Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 600 employees and has the following statistics? 29 have been accused of spouse abuse 7 have been arrested for fraud 19 have been accused of writing bad cheques 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses 3 have done time for assault 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges 8 have been arrested for shoplifting 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits 84 have been arrested for drink driving in the last year Which organisation is this ? ***It's the 635 members of the British House of Commons, the same group that cranks out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line.***

It was canny. I was initially a bit dissappointed by the matte paintings all over the shop and the hamminess of a few of the actors, but some of the backdrops are very good, some of the darkly lit scenes are moody as hell and the performance of the nun having a sexual awakening that leads to her psychotic behaviour at the end is gloriously over the top. A more intelligent viewpoint is here.... http://www.criterionco.com/asp/release.asp...p;section=essay

I don't mind downloading owt. Just as long as it's recommended and not full of evil little sprites who'll chew on the wirews in my PC box. Cheers.

I don't want to download loads of shite and get my computer infected. Anyone know how I can achieve this safely? I've got Nero but it seems to need the VOB files or summat. Cheers

Film/moving picture show you most recently watched
Happy Face replied to Jimbo's topic in General Chat
Beast Cops Not about the Middlesbrough constabulary, but a recent Hong Kong Classic. Not much to set it apart from all the other Hong Kong triad films except Alan Shearer making an appearance. I wonder if he knows he's in it. -
Gutted he wasn't used on Saturday.

Watched Black Narcissus which was canny but nowt special, then United 93 which was fantastic. Even though I knew everything already I was still constantly on edge and gripped by it. Which I definately couldn't say for Babel. Why the hell are people raving about it? A very flabby film that says very little very ponderously. Why was every scene bookended with a musical montage? I hate it when people complain about the length of a film, but this is one that really could do with at least a half hour taken out of it. Had a few minge shots like, so worth watching tbh. -
I could equally say you're talking crap regarding your opinion that football is just another form of entertainment HF, anyway this isn't going anywhere and I'm not wanting to get tied down in a debate about films vs football but you are right, I just don't see the point in discussing whether a film director is overrated or not because I don't think it matters to anyone or anything - but that's just me, you obviously see it differently so fair enough. I'll leave the thread now and leave you geeks to it. Geeks? At least I haven't set up a website and written vast tomes about my little hobby. Nerdlinger.

Everone knows that a billion people watch the Oscars. The World Cup Final only attracts 600million. Star Wars geeks will keep going back to anything related to it tbh. Lucas could piss on their shoes and they'd still go to watch episode 7 if it ever happened. And I see what you're saying. At least in the UK, there are far more people passionate about football than are comaparably passionate about film. HTT was just talking crap by suggesting a directors talent wasn't an important enough issue to warrant a thread.
-
Many people travel great distances to catch limited release films, classics and rarities. They'll watch anything and everything by a director or star and people were more than a little depressed when George Lucas started fucking with their childhood memories. Just because you or I aren't like that, doesn't mean other people can't get more out of film than football. I was flipantly talking about originally.
-
How does football have any more meaning than pure entertainment? It's a diversion for the working classes who can't afford the theatre. You're saying it's not worth discussing because it's not real, how has that got anything to do with it. Tarantino's talent and ability to satisfy the viewer (or lack of it) is just as debateble as Scott Parker's.

You could say the same about football tbh. Football is real. It's an entertainment, just like film.

Well I'll not be doing that again.
