  1. yup vodka is by far the best drink if you're counting calories. slimline tonic or lime and soda are other healthy mixers and stay off the wifebeater. every pint of stella/kronenburg etc contains 700 calories! so you can get on it if you're watching your weight. just be prepared to look like a total mincer when you're getting your round in. That'll be the worst like. Those are my favored brands. Don't think I'll be able to bring myself to stand there with a straight glass and point my little finger out as I sup. How's Guiness for calories then? Or Coider?
  2. What if I don't own a nuclear reactor? Or is that a funny way of saying yoga/pilates?
  3. That's how I entertain the troops in the pub. It inspires wide eyed awe from everyone in the vicinity. Sorry for being daft here, but what exactly is a "crunch". I thought it was a chocolate bar.
  4. Well I've basically lived on Pasta, beans & egg on toast and lager for 5 or 6 years and I'm now like a 7 foot beaffren (spelling?). I know nowt about nutrition but got told off a gym frequenting mate it was carbohydrates that were giving me the fat belly. So it's steak, apples and G&T's all the way from now on. I walk at least a couple of miles every day and go for a run 2 or 3 times a week. It won't shift the gut though. I tried 100 sit ups a night too, to no avail.
  5. Having spent 27 years abusing dieters, I've decided I'm going Atkins.
  6. First episode of the new series tonight. It was very funny. All about why tv is shit. Repeated at 0.30AM if you missed it. BBC4
  7. The Cabinet of Dr Caligari - Expressionism is used too little in modern films. Probably only Tim Burton gives it a whirl in popular film but I always think it's a good thing. The most interesting thing about this was how it looked.
  8. The driving wasn't integral to the plot tbf. Erm, how wasn't it? He had to get up at a certain point in order to drive there. Fair enough. He also had to breathe to survive the journey but correctly chose to omit that level of detail. The important thing was he was visiting a uni.
  9. The driving wasn't integral to the plot tbf.
  10. In all honesty, Weekend At Bernie's is a canny film. Carries off what it intends to quite well. When I watched it as a kid with the family we all pissed ourselves laughing.
  11. Whi8ch site you using? Betfair won't allow accumulators.
  12. It's been a while since I saw it, but I'd still argue it makes no connection with Iraq. I think one character says "someone will pay for this" or something, which uninformed people would see as justifying action in Iraq, but I see as justifying action in Afghanistan. Fair enough though, you didn't like it, but I think saying it's one of the worst you've seen may be a use of hyperbole rather than a fair and balanced criticism. "Dull, Slow and tedious"? It's a reconstruction of actual events, I can't imagine the criticism Stone would have got had he introduced a chase scene at the end. It's not flawless, it's melodramatic and sappy but I think it's satisfying and focuses on hope given a seemingly hopeless situation. More importantly I think it's a fantastic indictment of George Bush's manipulation of that day to his own ends. Which bits were cringeworthy? A lot of people complain about the water bottle scene, but that is exactly as the survivor described one of his dreams. Like any film, I'd advise everyone to watch it and make up their own mind (good or bad) rather than allowing others to form their opinion for them. Far better for opening debate rather than pinholing it.
  13. Well I'm near enough 500 quid now, and If it all goes tits up, I've only put 20 on to begin with. It's hardly like I've earned the extra dosh. Get it withdrawn and spent.
  14. Despite my doubts on this kind of bet making any money long term, I think it's worth £20 to see how many games I can go as a bit of fun. Game 1 - Tottenham v Man U - £20 @ 1.07 = £21.40 Hopefully I'll go further than Walliver.
  15. You do though don't you though? When you win. Hope you dont put too much money on, themags, HF is correct- most markets are 5% commission on winnings, asian handicap markets are 1%. Obviously doesn't get many winners.
  16. You do though don't you though? When you win.
  17. Lee Scratch Perry - Chase The Devil then The Prodigy - Out Of Space
  18. Sorry but... There's a minute to go. Still hope for that 70p.
  19. What a really shit week it is.... SATURDAY 3RD FEBRUARY ALWAYS 6.40pm Film4 Not seen it, but I'll always mention a Spielberg film. UNBREAKABLE 10.50pm ITV1 Average film about a bloke who can't be hurt and another bloke who's always getting hurt. BITTER MOON 11.25pm Channel 4 IIRC this is a reet dorty film by Roman Polanski. A young Hugh Grant stars, can't imagine him doing anything so risque these days. SUNDAY 4TH FEBRUARY JACOB’S LADDER 10.40pm Film4 Post vietnam horror for Tim Robbins with a canny twist that has since been overused so you'll see it coming a mile off. THE THING 10.45pm ITV4 John Carpenter horror about a shape-shifting collection of guts and organs that terrorise a remote ice station. Canny. MONDAY 5TH FEBRUARY HERO 9pm Film4 Gorgeous Chinese film in the vein of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and House of Flying Daggers. The dodgy politics it esposes are a bit shocking but not suprising considering it was funded by the Chinese government. It's always stunning. If you've seen and enjoyed this (or the other two mentioned) keep an eye out for Curse of the Golden Flower which is by the same director and has been getting rave reviews. THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS 10pm ITV2 You've all seen it. SEX, LIES AND VIDEOTAPE 11pm Film4 Along with Reservoir Dogs this reinvigorated the independent movie scene in the early 90's. Always engrossing slow burner about one persons perversion being anothers normality, about frigidity being just as out there as extreme sexuality. TUESDAY 6TH FEBRUARY LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL 6.45pm Film4 A heartbreaking holocaust comedy about a man trying to hide the true horror of what's happening from his son by turning it into a game. Recommended above all else that's on this week. THIS IS SPINAL TAP 10.30pm ITV But only because everyone's already seen Spinal Tap. I can't decide if this or The Life of Brian is the funniest film ever made. WEDNESDAY 7TH FEBRUARY METALLICA: SOME KIND OF MONSTER 9pm More4 Very apt that this is on the day after Spinal Tap. It's absoloutley hilarious and I'd advise both films be watched as a double bill. THE BREAKFAST CLUB 10pm BBC3 A bunch of highly irritating and self absorbed teenagers sit around in an afternoon of detention complaining about how hard their lives are and how much they hate their parents. Still suprisingly watchable and funny. In the end they smoke some weed and everything is alright. Isn't it always the case? MANHUNTER 10.30pm ITV2 I've not seen it and I won't be spoiling it with an advert riddled showing, but Brian Cox is meant to be the best Hannibal there's been. FRIDAY 9TH FEBRUARY PALE RIDER 9.30pm ITV4 Clint Eastwood has made far superior westerns, but he's always worth watching on a horse. ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 11pm Film4 Another John Carpenter classic I haven't seen. Meant to be a superior sci-fi film retelling the story from the John Wayne western Rio Bravo.
  20. To be fair it is a daft bet. Who wants to risk a tenner for 70p? Who wants to risk a hundred grand for £7000? Might as well spend the money in your pocket. I do an accumulator (which is basically what you're advocating) for the dead certs every week and they rareley pay out. Anyone putting more than a tenner on a 34 game accumulator wants their head read. The booky loves you more than any other customers. EDIT: Good luck with it though, hope you don't come a cropper and blow £45K or owt daft. As if you'd even have the balls to place it.
