  1. Since I don't know what anyone has been paid for appearing, and can find no details of it, it's not something I've considered in viewing. I find Archer showing his warm-hearted side and giving away money on ITV as part of a gameshow that manages somehow to be less difficult and entertaining than Deal or No Deal far more offensive, and that's without my lisence fee paying for it.
  2. Thinking about it a bit more, it's more a "study" of celebrity social dynamics than it is a reflection on the judicial system, i.e. it's the Beeb's take on Celebrity Big Brother. You just have to look at the composition of the jury consisting of the likes of Archer, Portillo, Megaman, Collymore, Jacqueline Gold, Honor Blackman, Patsy Palmer, Jennifer Ellison to see this programme for what it really is. Yeah, it is a parcel. I've found it fascinating. The previous version without celebs was very good, but only lasted one night and offered no insight into the characters on the jury. This version though provides context for the majority of jurors and makes plain how they bring their own prejudice to the table, how they're able to dominate a discussion and force their opinion (or be swayed) and how important it is to not be swayed by pressure if you're in this position, but by convincing reconsideration of the facts. Only The 12th Man has been a better cautionary tale on the importance of trial by jury and how seriously it should be taken by EVERY member. If some heat readers were swayed into viewing it because Tinhead's bird is in it, all the better. ....and Portillo impresses me more and more every time I see him. Take away a political agenda and he's a very intelligent, measured bloke. Henry Fonda if you will. Did you watch anymore after thinking it was alright (as stated above)? Or stop watching because others ridiculed the celebrity factor which makes it all the more fascinating?
  3. Stan Collymore is a prick like. Him and Super Bomberman saying "you can't put your own viewpoint on it" then saying "I've been in this situation so I know best." Wankers.
  4. Is til the ending, that ruins the film. Although the book is a bit like that too according to my friend... If you're after Miyazaki i'd recommend princess monoke, nausicaa of the valley of the wind, kikis delivery service and grave of the fireflies. None are as good as spirited away but they come quite close. Felt let down by Princess Mononoke and to a lesser extent Grave of the Fireflies after all the hype like. avoid pom poko, only yesterday and porco rosso then. They are miles behind the others i've mentioned so far. Don't get me wrong, their good, just not as good as the others. I loved Pom Poko though. Probably because it never had any of the hype of the others.

Felt let down by Princess Mononoke and to a lesser extent Grave of the Fireflies after all the hype like.
  6. Patton - What a stark raving barnpot. Absoloutley looney toad quack. Cracking film. George C.Scott was already a legend, probably up here - , but after this the man is a god, right up here ^. Howl's Moving Castle - Excellent, at least as good as Spirited Away.
  7. Why is "twat" so much more acceptable? Polite society should only accept "foof" tbh.
  8. Your face in the taxi queue. Pure unadulterated horror. Some bloke at the match got that treatment on Saturday. The lad that sits behind us let out the dreaded word, and Cath's head spun round like it was spring loaded and gave him the :icon_lol: look. He immediately apologised. Reason 1 why women should never go to the match. It's where boys go to be sweary.
  9. The TV show just started last night. Ah, I'd definitely rather watch a programme about them than read them anyway. I think it's the first thing worth watching on ITV in 7 years. And it's basically a channel 4/5 esque list show. Now that seems quite specific, HF. Almost as if you had another ITV programme in mind that was quite good 7 years ago...failing to see what it could possibly be, since that channel's been shite for pretty much most of my adult life. Random Number. Prisoner Cell Block H was class though.

  11. That's what's pissed me off with it recently. The roadworks thing was the lowest point in pre-meditated set-ups, but despite the obvious planned moments here (cow on the roof ffs) it was more improvised than you usually get and actually had something to say about cars again.
  12. I've had every Monday this year off and will until April. It's lush.
  13. Not sure the ideas in Mein Kampf made a difference to the world since the only bloke to implement them was the bloke that wrote it. Yeah, but that implementation resulted in the biggest war of all time. I'd say that's quite a difference. Aye, Hitler made a difference. Not his book. Maybe, but Mein Kampf certainly contributed to the popularity of the Nazi party. Do you honestly think the biggest war of all time is more important than football? Didn't they stop the war for a game of five a side at christmas?
  14. Best film Winner: The Queen Also nominated Babel The Last King of Scotland The Departed Little Miss Sunshine Best British film Winner: The Last King of Scotland Also nominated: The Queen Casino Royale Notes on a Scandal United 93 How does that work then?
  15. Stan Collymore is having none of it like.

  18. Wahey! Children of men gets best cinematography. And bloody right too.
  19. Watch it next week and Melvyn Bragg will tell you.
  20. In the grand scheme of things, saying football has had the same influence on the world as the bible is a bit thick. No-one said that was the case tbh. Its inclusion in the list implies that though. Does Newcastle being in the top ten suggest we're as good as Man U then? That's a poor analogy, we are certainly capable of beating Man Utd, which is more than 99.9% of football teams in this country can say. And Maradonna could kick Jesus's arse.
  21. Was that British? Deserves the award if it was. My girlfriend at the time cried at the end because she'd thought the passengers survived. Silly cow. France/UK/USA apparently.

  23. I guess because they were printed onto paper for people to read.
  24. Must have a look at that. I've got it unread on my shelf.
