Newcastle Utd V Watford / 3pm KO // SJP
Happy Face replied to Anorthernsoul's topic in Newcastle Forum
I don't believe we would have paid compensation in January. I believe we could have offered Pardew what he's getting at Palace and retained his services, but we've chosen to pay McClaren less than that. -

Whey he was a failing championship manager that had won 2 games in 13 at Derby (the same as Carver at Newcastle) when we spent 6 months head hunting him without any competition. -

I've read lots of reasons why we're shit. From player nationality to lack of strikers. From recruitment to coaching via team selection. Ultimately, ANY of those are side issues. The heart of it is that NOBODY works at the club to win. They're ALL there as a means to an end. The owner sets that agenda from the very top. His only aim from being at the club is to advertise his shop. The chief exec and manager are out of their depth, promoted beyond their abilities to save money, they know no other PL club would have them. The players are at the club only as a stepping stone, their lack of pride and heart reflects everyone above them. -

The new Battles album has a song on called "Tyne Wear" . It's not the best track on there like, more of an interlude. This is good though

Fuck off!! I was going to compare this with a ticket for the bootleg beatles, think I paid a tenner to see them in 1994. But when I checked, they're charging £32 at the City hall as well. Would anyone contemplate it? CT?

Paid £305, sold for £310 to a lad at work who hadn't got an invite yet. Told him the extra £5 was for the queue jump. They're going for close to £400 on ebay, but I'm dead canny.

Oneplus 2 arrived on Monday. I sold it this morning. I was hit by the stark realisation that I could get the same new phone feeling simply by factory restoring my existing oneplus 1 and building it up from scratch again. If there were performance, camera, speaker improvements then they were neglible to me. The finger-print scanner is lush, i always doubted that feature as being any benefit, as i never use any lock on my phone anyway, but the fact that it makes opening your phone easier, while also improving security is brilliant. I've not actually had it long enough to start a 4g goodybag with giffgaff and that might be brilliant too. ...just not brilliant enough for me to justify £300. If your phone is on it's arse and you need a new one I highly recommend the oneplus 2. As mine isn't, i'm just going to stick with the 95% as excellent oneplus 1.

Serendipitous Seen PE twice now, at Northumbria university and Digital. Both very small venues where i could smell their sweat. Great shows, but I'm wondering how well they can do as a support act in a large arena. Still excited though. Turns out my Reeves and Mortimer tickets don't clash with Fun Lovin' Criminals \o/

"much has already been made of Corbyn's fondness for vests." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-34262126 The BBC with the most vapid, lengthy look at his TUC speech which says it all about the new politics of appearance over the traditional politics of ideas.

West Ham United v Newcastle United 14/9/15 20:00 KO (On Sky)

Aye, obviously, that doesn't preclude Anita from being more involved in his deeper role though. But he's not. He tackles less & loses more of the tackles he attempts. Our top 4 passers are Colback, Haidara, Mbemba & Coloccini so if Anita is supposed to be the deeper sitting player he's less often the one picking up the ball as we play out from defense and playing the simpler passes forward from deep. -

But when all is said and done, Tiote was almost doing the work of both of these two on his own just last year... and people were hammering him for being less of a player than he had been in his first 2 seasons. -

Forgot about Squawka. Can correct myself with numbers for the whole season... So while Colback is still more involved, and actually completes more of his passes, it's to a negligible extent, and over the rest of the games he's played it backwards much more than Anita which surprises me. He seems to be doing more with his forward passes in a more advanced position though, judging on chance creation and important passes. -

I'd rather have Colback who gets involved more and tries to go forward more than Anita who is less involved and plays it backwards more when he does receive the ball, even when his pass completion is better. -

I doubted how effective it would be. They normally demonise wealthy celebs or flip-flopping politicians without principle all of who play the game. No matter how unfair the treatment they get, no matter whether they've been hacked or whatever there's always that perception that it's what they've signed up for. I thought with the principle Corbyn has shown the public would side with him against the media. It's not close to the Milly Dowler situation but on the same track, I thought that I would see public opinion turn on the papers rather than Corbyn because he's a decent, honest bloke doing his best for the worst off in society and if they went at him the public would feel more sympathy for him, so the papers would have to be a bit cleverer about how they go about bringing him down. That was until i came to work this morning and a few of the grads were saying how they had googled Corbyn last night to see what he was about and had decided he's a complete lunatic, so it's working perfectly.
