  1. Since you went and bought it I assumed the wink was of the "Nudge, nudge! Wink, wink! Say no more!" variety suggesting that you were a right lad enjoying porn and gore as much as you do. If it was a wink of the "NOT!!" variety then I'm perplexed as to why you spent your hard earned on it. Either way, you don't like it anymore, you're obviously developing a sense of pride in your tastes. Soon Bowling for soup will be an embarrassing memory too. We all have them. For a while I thought Finley Quaye was the new Bob Marley
  2. Brilliant isn't it? Bought the uncut DVD last week but haven't got round to watching it yet. Clearly loved every second tbh.
  3. TBF Searching the thread shows that Brock actually said a few times how much he enjoyed Hostel. So his opinion only really differs from his own.
  4. Was it as shit as the first one? Brock, never been right about a single film, tv show, band, album, song, book, youtube performance or any other entertainment EVER! You only like it because the first hour is nothing but tits and sex (I wasn't complaining, but I prefer porn without people being butchered). It's a terrible film, which was just an excuse to cram in as much sex and gore as the MPAA would let them get away with. If it didn't have Tarantino's name attached to it, it'd be a straight to DVD movie. Not a question of taste, the movie is genuinely shit, and if you can't see that, or simply state otherwise because you don't agree with my personal taste, then you must be watching a different movie to the dross I sat through. We've had the debate before where I've said what I liked and it has nothing to do with being a porvy bloodthirsty teen. Eli Roth had previously made Cabin Fever on a shoestring budget that went on to make an absoloute ton. He was being feted by studios left and right to make a big budget Hollywood film, even though he decided to do Hostel, a lower budget, independently financed, more personally satisfying film for him, it was never going straight to DVD simply because so many people loved Cabin Fever. The Tarantino name check might have helped the box-office, but has very little to do with the film that was made or the rating it received. In fact, it's probably an hour before you even see any gore in Hostel.

  6. Teenage Kicks on it by any chance? I've seen he DJ before actually. Wonder how many times he played at Fabric Of course Got me a very nice torrent with all 33 FabricLive collections.
  7. The BBC should never be forced to advertise, any level of impartiality and accountability it currently has must be maintained. I think the lisence is for your tv, not for receiving the BBC. Since they get the money though, i think it's excellent value and would gladly pay it and maintain standards rather than have them rely on international sales of teletubbies and Bob the Builder to survive and a turn towards ITV style shows (like channel 4 have required to survive after starting as an alternative and intelligent channel). Question Time, Newsnight, Panorama etc all blow the other channels out of the water for coverage of current affairs. You also have BBC Four which is probably the best channel on TV (after SSN) , loads of Radio, The armed forces service, the world service and the excellent website. I'm about to take part in a trial that puts 80 years of BBC archives on the website that sounds excellent too, if this is a free service to UK residents it could be superb.
  8. How many Birthdays has the queen had? Is she 130 or something?
  9. Spoke too soon, just watched In The Mood For Love which is very similar, but better.
  10. Brief Encounter Two happily married strangers meet on a train platform and engage in a nefarious relationship behind the backs of their loving families. The brazen hussy protests that nothing must come of it while the cad/rotter eggs her on to further days out together and clandestine stop overs in a seedy flat. Thankfully, it was filmed during the war so neither party give in to their lustful cravings and both return to a stifling family life in loveless marriages that will see them die unfullfilled, embittered and regretful. They don't make them like this any more. Classic. Boxcar Bertha Scorcese's last film before he hit it out of the park with Mean Streets. Ostensibly a bog standard exploitation movie, sex and violence are basically what it's about, but there are some flashes of the talent that Scorsese has, and some of the tricks he continues to adopt. Roger Corman is a B-movie legend, moreso for the talent he helped nurture than the product he released. Francis Ford Copolla, Peter Bogdanovich, Ron Howard, James Cameron and Jonathan Demme all got early work from him, but he was all about the benjamins, so you basically get a rip off of Bonnie and Clyde which had recently done very well. Mercifully breif and featuring a semi-clad Barbara Hershey for the majority of the running time, it's worth a look.
  11. Stroszek Early Werner Herzog film about a German bloke who gets out of prison, shacks up with a prostitute and flees to America with her to escape her pimps and chase the American dream. It doesn't go as well as he hoped. I enjoyed it, especially the last 15 minutes.
  12. So she's the jinx that's caused an unprecedented trophyless streak? get her sacked tbh.
  13. Planning. Seemed to be the fans number one choice in the polls, at least the one I recall on here. I'd have been far happier with him over Sam, obviously wasn't approached though.
  14. I much prefer GRAW 2. Is that the band that throws up in their masks and take shits in each others mouths as part of the show?
  15. did an hour on rainbow 6 vegas tonight. It's hard on realsitic.
  16. They look like Salopets. Were you ski-ing or did that pass for everyday wear in the '70s? The only skiing Happy Face has ever done is with two puffs in a bed and him in the middle doing slalom.....waheea! I might look like someone you and Meenzer went to school with, but it wasn't me mate.
  17. Must be getting old, talking like Yoda. BTW, I never understood that, I thought when Yoda was introduced in Empire Strikes back he was getting old and mixed up his words as a result, "Sick have I become" for example. Why was he doing it in the prequels, donkeys years earlier when he was meant to have his marbles.
  18. Says who?? In general conversation with people at work and some threads on here. During the group stages if Man Ure have lost people are laughing etc, yet in the final its differnt. That's because every single person at Man U is despicable individual who desrves nothing but pain in their black black hearts, same as Chelsea, I'd always want those teams to lose a final. Wouldn't (and didn't) mind liverpool winning simply because I like the manager and at least a few players.
  19. Good point Jimbo. I don't see a contradiction to be honest... Newcastle > England > A British team in Europe I think we all agree, that's the order. Whether or not you'd put AC milan at the end or second last has nothing to do with the first 2 positions. Aren't some folk advocating; Newcastle > A British team in Europe >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> England Odd that someone could feel patriotic to another English club, but not the England team. Dunno, I must've missed that page. Both teams have people I'd like to see win it or lose it. Personally I'd enjoy watching Gatusso cry just as much as Bellamy. But I'd like to see players I respect like Kaka or Gerrard and Carragher win it.

  21. Aye it's boiling my piss on 5 live like. I never arse myself, but this time I even sent a text. Ain't read it out like.
