But there are those in this thread claiming that currently there is no halfway decent music, nor any good lyricists compared to the good old days (I'd personally contest that there were very very few worthwhile lyricists back then, too.). I think it's worth pointing out to them that this isn't the case. I agree with you. Nevertheless, I will still continue my research into what's shit so I can contribute to the thread knowledgably. On the flipside, it's quest into mainstream pop in search of hidden gems which I'd otherwise not have found due to my blinkered Pitchfork/Tiny Mix Tapes view of the music world.

Mark Ronson - Oh My God I like Mark Ronson, Here Comes The Fuzz was a quality album, I like The Kaiser Chiefs, their first album had some class pop songs on (Oh My God included), I’ve even liked some of Lily Allens stuff, her Dizzee Rascal collaboration was class, but this is the worst song from Version. My Chemical Romance - Teenagers I’ve heard of these. Never realized they were SOOOOOOOOOO much of a Green Day tribute band. Even down to the lead singer pulling daft faces with dyed black hair and eyeliner. Could do worse than copy Green Day, who’re great fun. PS. It’s just finishing now, good to see Status Quo are still inspiring the kids. Favourite song so far just for that. Just a shame the sound of a ping pong ball through a track is annoying as fuck and really weak sounding compared to the huge sound of the rest of it. And why do all these singers really put all their guts into sounding like they REALLY mean it when it’s patently obvious they could be singing about blu-tac for all they care.
