Tokyo Story is the only Ozu I've seen. Thought it was alright. Don't get why he's a genius though. So he puts his camera low down. -
Whatever it is, it's in an office so he'll have a PC and relapse as soon as he knows what he's doing and can do a full days work in an hour like everyone else.
-
They're neither of them Prince. I think far superior is pushing it. Either way, your list conists almost entirely of top 40 artists. So to claim someone else knows fuck all about music because they don't despise another popular beat combo is a bit rich.
-
It seems odd to me that you deem it ok to like the Arctic Monkeys, but not the Kaiser Chiefs. What makes the Arctics so superior in your opinion? The Kaiser Chiefs new album was shit, but the first was on a par with any of the Arctic Monkeys stuff.
-
Your definition of shit music is 'not Muse'. Anyone with such a narrow view knows fuck all about music. Narrow view? Honestly don't know what the fuck you are rambling about. I enjoy plenty of other bands you tard. OMG I CANT BELIEVE IT !!111!!1111oneone I thought the Kaiser Chiefs might have been taking the piss with "Everything is average nowadays" but then realised they're not that clever. I've never heard you recommend any other band/artist. Happy to listen if you want to enlighten me.

It's either daft numbers or indenting so much you can only get 2 words per line on the very right hand side of the screen.

Automatically voided anything you have ever said or ever will say about music . Forever. Your general attitude of nihilism, cynicism and skepticism renders your opinion on any subject void.

Got tickets but couldn't make it. Mates said it wasn't up to much. pre-selected questions. Only highlight was when discussing his record against Arsenal he admitted that he just tells his players to kick the shit out of them. You need proper players for that.

Nee need for that sort of language. Pot? Kettle? http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...mp;#entry365686 Or have I been whooshed?

Take That - Shine Top tune

Mutya - Real Girl These slags warbling all over the shop, straining to show their range in EVERY song are really pissing me off now. But I’m a bit of a fan of It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over so this one has sent me way over the edge. Hellogoodbye- Here (In Your Arms) Almost as bad as that Highschool Musical one. Amerie - Gotta Work Sampling is about taking a SHORT sample of music and using it as an ELEMENT of a NEW recording. Chart acts these days seem to think it’s just as original not to sample, but to lift a chorus wholesale. Jesus wept. The track can’t help but be toe tapping good, it’s Hold On I'm Coming for gods sake. Calvin Harris 'The Girls' Zig and Zag did a song called Them Girls. It was better than this penguin shit. Maroon 5 - Makes Me Wonder Someone borrowed me a Maroon 5 mini disc once. I’ve not spoken to them since. I’ve only got myself to blame for youtubing this, so I’ll not be speaking to myself any more. Shit. Nelly Furtado Say it Right Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Shit The Enemy - Had Enough As tedious as anything else in the chart. Mercury Prize? Fuck off! Klaxons - It's Not Over Yet Aren’t these meant to be rave? It’s not rave. It’s shit. Actually, that’s not fair. Not that shit, but I won’t get much listening from them. Yves Larock : Rise Up The kind of shit I’d expect on a Jamster advert. Bonus though, search for Rise Up on you tube and Rise Up With Fists by Jenny Lewis is top, so watching that was good. Funeral For A Friend - Walk Away Christ it’s so contrived. Sing in your normal voice man. oooh quiet loud, original. He's all emotional and then all passionate. Bullshit. My top 40 experiment has come to an end. In conclusion I'd say about 10% of mainstream pop music is not shit. Probably about the same percentage as you'd get in the Indie chart, appearing at your local theatres, or in your local bars. probably even higher.

Gym Class Heroes - Cupid's Chokehold Absoloutley hilarious. The Supertramp sample is worse than Puff Daddy’s cringeworthy use of I'll be Watching You. There’s one bit where the ‘rapper’ tries to get 2 lines of lyrics into one that had me creased. Comedy gold. Shit. Beyonce ft. Shakira - Beautiful Liar Nice mariachi intro. I can almost abide Beyone, she limits the vocal workout shite somewhat. Shakira on the other hand goes at it with gusto with every word. Fucking horseshit. Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin and that do more with one inflected note at the right moment than all these whores and their constant climbing up and down the scales do in an entire back catalogue. Kings of Leon - Fans One song so far that I’ve listened to loads and will do in the future. Jack Peñate - Torn On The Platform Cos my Eyes, eyes, eyes Are not Dry, dry, dry As I Realise, ise, ise That in a few minutes this train will be gone Sighs, sighs, sighs City Fly’s, fly’s, fly’s Wonder Why, why, why Would anyone want to live where I come from? Gordon Bennet! Kelly Rowland ft Eve - Like this More heartfelt warbling from modern day divas. Unimaginably shit. Plain White T's - Hey There Delilah A pretty lament. I don’t believe him though. R.Kelly feat. Usher - Same Girl R.Kelly is a genius. The opus that was Trapped in the Closet was a modern masterpiece. While not up to that standard, this is almost as good. More impressive than that pile of Triceratops shit off Jurrasic Park. Timbaland - Give It To Me (feat. J. Timberlake & N. Furtado) Better than his current number one. Liking the drums, he should stick to his drums, cos his singing/rapping/talking is a crock. Take That - Shine I was one of the few people that liked Mark Owen's solo album. Child was a lovely song. As unoriginal as it is, this is an amazingly jaunty tune in the vein of Mr Blue Sky. Hard to be bitter towards it. Class tbh. Reverend and the Makers - Heavyweight champion of the world Arctic Monkeys and the Happy Mondays spliced. Shit.
-
Because it's a shit music thread. Not a good music thread. But there are those in this thread claiming that currently there is no halfway decent music, nor any good lyricists compared to the good old days (I'd personally contest that there were very very few worthwhile lyricists back then, too.). I think it's worth pointing out to them that this isn't the case. I agree with you. Nevertheless, I will still continue my research into what's shit so I can contribute to the thread knowledgably. On the flipside, it's quest into mainstream pop in search of hidden gems which I'd otherwise not have found due to my blinkered Pitchfork/Tiny Mix Tapes view of the music world.

Mark Ronson - Oh My God I like Mark Ronson, Here Comes The Fuzz was a quality album, I like The Kaiser Chiefs, their first album had some class pop songs on (Oh My God included), I’ve even liked some of Lily Allens stuff, her Dizzee Rascal collaboration was class, but this is the worst song from Version. My Chemical Romance - Teenagers I’ve heard of these. Never realized they were SOOOOOOOOOO much of a Green Day tribute band. Even down to the lead singer pulling daft faces with dyed black hair and eyeliner. Could do worse than copy Green Day, who’re great fun. PS. It’s just finishing now, good to see Status Quo are still inspiring the kids. Favourite song so far just for that. Amy McDonald - Mr Rock & Roll Liked the Jon Brion esque intro, then it all got a bit too Kirst Maccoll Arctic Monkeys - Fluorescent Adolescent Like the line “Was it a megadobber or a betting pencil?”, not much else to recommend it though. Natasha Bedingfield - Soulmate Stop wobbling EVERY note bitch! Shit. Newton Faulkner - Dream Catch Me Loved it until the guitar came in on 4 seconds. Then it became shit. What a dull dull man. I keep listening to the first 4 seconds though. Justin Timberlake - LoveStoned Wouldn’t be a bad track if it wasn’t for the crappy lyrics. Rihanna - Shut Up & Drive Her again? Actually, this is far better than her other one. Green Day - The Simpsons Theme Success. Something I didn’t know existed that is class. Mind you the vocalization of the theme at the end is horrendous, and this fucker kicks it’s arse altogether. What Time Is It? - High School Musical 2 Good! God!

I’m going to youtube the top 40 and see what I like, I’m not sure if I’ll have heard any of them before. Perhaps I’ll find something I want to listen to more of… Timbaland Ft Keri Hilson - The Way I Are What struck me most about this is that the official video is sponsored by McDonalds Quarter pounder. What the fuck? Not content with selling out their big hits to advertisers, pop stars these days do a pre-emptive sponsorship deal. Timbaland keeps doing all this dope producin, but it’s a shit song. The Push It sample just made me think I’d rather listen to Push it. Shit. Kate Nash – Foundations Nice jolly intro….Jesus wept. I take it this is a rival record company’s push for the Lily Allen market. Shit Rihanna ft Jay-Z - Umbrella Sponsorship deal number 2, this one is from Covergirl. Christ. This was number one for 3 months? She’s got a nasty voice, sings from the back of her throat in a grating high pitch fashion but occasionally throws in a Britney style growl. Looks like Posh spice too. Shit. Fergie - Big Girls Don't Cry That’s a nicer huskier voice, and a nice simple acoustic. She’s insisting on doing those Christina Aguilera falsetto bits though. Probably the least shit so far, but still shit. Enrique Iglesias - Do You Know? 2 minutes of comedy video first. I did like how the Ping Pong worked into the track though. Just a shame the sound of a ping pong ball through a track is annoying as fuck and really weak sounding compared to the huge sound of the rest of it. And why do all these singers really put all their guts into sounding like they REALLY mean it when it’s patently obvious they could be singing about blu-tac for all they care. Shit The Hoosiers – Worried about Ray Drums and guitar, this could be alright, starts with a bit of distortion, nice, then seems to turn into Happy Together by The Turtles, which was a class song…40 years ago. Nice stop motion, shit song. Avril Lavigne - When You're Gone Think I’ve heard the chorus from this one before. She’s the worst offender for doing the Britney croak, bit more subtle about it, but far more frequently. Actually I’ve not heard it, I was thinking of that new Since you’ve Been Gone (not the Rainbow Classic), this is worse than that. Shit. Groove Armada - Song 4 Mutya An act I quite like, well I say that, I see you Baby was infectious and At The River was nice. She’s doing that vocoder voice thing that Cher and Kylie were doing 15 years back. Least shit yet. Wouldn't have me giving them another chance though. Mika - Big Girl (You Are Beautiful) Queen – Fat bottomed Girls Shit Manic Street Preachers – Autumnsong Never liked the Manics, and even pillaging the Sweet Child Of Mine intro doesn’t make this any better than their normal shit. This isn't going well, 11-20 to follow.

T2 Special Edition Arnie's smile is hilarious. It's nasty to think, the only fantastic idea in these films is the time travelling saviour coming to warn us of impending armageddon and help us avoid it. Course, we could always just switch the computer off if it started kicking off with us. -

Cries and Whispers - Not Bergmans best imo, couple of times I checked how long was left, which is never a good sign. Nasty bit with the shard of glass had me squirming like. Annie Hall - God I love this film, it's funny as fuck. Depending on which one I've seen most recently I alternate between this and Manhattan being Woody Allen's best. I guess I'm not alone in that. And Diane Keaton is lush. -
Canny, I forgot to include the links I put on N-O...

The Departed was better. I'll take a look at the rest though, ta.

Got a PM over on N-O asking me to recommend some and ended up writing a bit much, others might be interested... Lot's missing, I'd love to take a look at any recommendations that anyone else has.
