  1. When I say it's true, I just mean more men have read it than women by the way. I don't think looks or occupation dictate whether or not someone has read LOTR. I think most readers, male or female, attractive or not, gave up reading LOTR at the Council of Elrond at least once though, it's frigging tedious.
  2. Like I say "I've got no problem with it, because it's true". Some stereotypes are true. Just the praise rings hollow with me when I can see the film perpetuate the stereotype though.
  3. Average house prices Darras Hall £470,278 Ponteland £387,703 Wylam £243,370 Heddon-On-The-Wall £241,954 Morpeth £219,259 Newcastle Upon Tyne £180,901 Forest Hall £183,079 Benton £156,559 Seaton Delaval £151,577 Seghill £150,653 Cramlington £147,158 Killingworth £145,168 Bedlington £137,020 Longbenton £134,295 Blyth £127,948 Ashington £106,944
  4. Obviously neither of you have the scientific mind for it. Stick to the sci-fi versions Something that is annoying me about The Martian is if Matt Damon started slagging off my taste in music after going on a trip to Mars without any of his own I'd leave the bell-end there. The other point is not a criticism of the film really, but of contributions on Kermode that have said it's nice to see scientists represented as normal people, rather than weirdos. Danny Glover, the man who solves the biggest problem, played a massive weirdo though. All the scientists have a meeting where the one attractive woman doesn't know the Lord of The Rings reference as well. Nerds could take that as an inside joke on her, but there's still the nod to nerdy dweebs being a spieces separate to attractive women. I've got no problem with it, because it's true, but I think people just saw Matt Damon doing clever stuff and based that praise on him alone.
  5. Any film with a crash zoom on a slide rule is going to appeal to me.
  6. The Martian. Someone saw Apollo 13 and thought "that was mint, let's do it again with more problems to solve further away", which is a great thing. Thoroughly enjoyed it, but the truth of Apollo 13 still wins for me despite the greater spectacle of this.
  7. "The death of Osama bin laden was a tragedy" David Cameron Conservative Party Conference 7 October 2015 Grotesque and unequivocal quote directly from his speech. Shameful.
  8. Aye, it was canny. Don't remember much of it though, just know it as the film Kermode bangs on about too much. Never seen any of the real wifeys off it. Not sure I want to from that description.
  9. I thought I was being sexist enough about the whole thing to hide it
  10. I thought only the data was relevant to what goody bag you use, as anyone who spends an hour a day on the phone to someone would get them onto giffgaff too. Calls to other giffgaff phones are free all the time and don't come off your allowance.
  11. Did you see her frock on the red carpet? What a let down for such a pretty little lady.
  12. Aye. That's the best bit of the trailer too where it does the mam and dad. Went to see Suffragette tonight. All men are horrible, incompetent bastards and all women are martyrs that got raped daily until they could vote. Didn't the war play some small part in women getting the vote? Meryl Steep was good giving her speech.
  13. Are people moaning about Carr just because everyone wants to moan about everything. Even if Thauvin is complete shite and never puts in a performance, haven't Mbemba, Wijnaldum and Mitrovic looked as good as anyone in the team or better? Three out of four ain't bad.
  14. The year after being voted best young player.
  15. That's just a SIM card order page. Once you get a sim card tyou can activate it and set up your account to add goody bags.
  16. GIFF GAFF are top class. They work best if you get everyone you talk to or text to use them as well. I'm a tyrant so basically everyone I know is using them now. My balance hasn't moved in a year or so as a result. Use this link (AND ONLY THIS LINK) to order your sim: https://www.giffgaff.com/orders/affiliate/bigchrisholt
  17. Fish, like a hawkish politician who was wrong on Iraq, still banging the drum for intervention in Iran. Do you not remember last season when you kept saying we'd be fine but it went down to the last game?
  18. Putting the onus on the public to do something isn't going to work. For every person that writes to their senator demanding something be done, the NRA have someone else who can write a letter demanding their rights not be infringed. According to a March 2013 CNN/ORC poll, 55 percent of Americans thought there, "should be only minor or no restrictions at all on owning guns." In the same December 2014 poll conducted by Pew, 57 percent of Americans said gun ownership in the United States protects people That majority could drop into a minority, I think those opposed to gay marriage were in the majority until very recently but that crumbled rapidly after Glee came on telly. But it suggests the support is moving the other way rather than trending down.
  19. Tells you everything you need to know about iphone users and android users.
  20. More came to the Southampton game than Chelsea when tickets were an average £12 cheaper. But Watford was £9 cheaper than Chelsea too and was the lowest attendance of the season. Think there's too many factors other than price. Is it on TV? how attractive are the opponents? what date is it? what time? etc.
  21. http://foodhygienerating.me.uk/council/South-Tyneside/food-hygiene-ratings/?place=191435-Bass-Foodstore-Basra-83-Broughton-Road-South-Shields-Tyne-and-Wear-NE33-2RT Eat a slice of humble pie, anyone will tell you I'm crushingly PC.
  22. http://www.themag.co.uk/2015/10/latest-newcastle-united-ticket-prices-are-even-more-difficult-to-understand/#sthash.rIkOOAhA.dpuf I've fleshed out the point in green with a lot of filler, but if anything ticket pricing has got worse at Newcastle, which I never thought possible.
  23. Maybe what they learned from Obertan is that they can't persist with a player and prove he has nothing to offer, because if they do that, they end up stuck paying the wages on a long contract. If a player doesn't hit the ground running like mbemba or Mitrovic or Wijnaldum, limit their playing time and get rid at the earliest opportunity in order to recoup as much as possible and reinvest.
  24. Dsiney Blu-rays now available on buy one get one free from Tesco, Amazon, Zavvi, The Hut, Disney Store and that
