  1. My uncle wasn't happy after the game. Said that at three nil we should have pushed on and hammered them Keegan style. If we could have held out the first ten or fifteen minutes of the second half I might have agreed, but given that there was only 2 Newcastle players in our half when they broke to score, I think we learned our lesson and made sure of the 3 points very sensibly. Excellent start. Why did he drag Martins off and not Viduka though? The fat aussie bastard really needs to win me over.
  2. Berbatov off Think he's in 90% of fantasy teams.
  3. They've got Carroll down as a defender. Cheapest defender possible too. Worth having as a sub.
  4. HOWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!
  5. They aren't putting their albums on sale on September 11th to cash in on the death of thousands of people on the most famous date in the calendar all around the world, are they? Tacky tbs tbs
  6. http://www.gigwise.com/news.asp?contentid=36085 Come on Kanye son, you can do it.
  7. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to get plaintive and face some of the thoughts you try and blank out when you're sober and keeping busy. I got a few cans and sat in on my own last Monday night after some terrible events I mentioned on here the week before. Ended up weeping like a baby. Would be a bad thing to have too many and bring others down...maybe end up kicking off, so it's best to be sensible. But you get some of your best thinking done when you're maudlin. Let it all out, then get your chin back up mate.
  8. It's a canny story with a clever twist, I just don't think it's a particularly well made film. I'm definately in a minority there though so wouldn't want to put off anyone wanting to see it (that's why I included it). It's the same bloke that did Flashdance and Indecent Proposal, so it's definately his best film.
  9. Looks like a cartoon. I can see why 300 or Sin City do that, based on the source material, but I'm getting tired of films doing it because it's proved succesful.
  10. That bad? Never heard of Severence to be honest with you, but looking it up, it seems it was done by the bloke that did the shit London horror 'Creep'. Snakes On A Plane was plain bad, but not approaching so bad as to be funny like you'd hope. Borat is racist, sexist and hilarious. Just your cuppa. You've never heard of Severance? I thought you were a film buff. Most of Gloucester has heard of Severance, and we're not exactly cultured. nb. How can you recommend not watching something when you've never heard of it? I looked at the 'talent' involved. I know you do the same with anything in the top 40.
  11. FRIDAY 10TH AUGUST SCANNERS 12.35am BBC1 I keep meaning to watch more Cronenberg films but I've had a few cans so won't ruin this by doing so tonight. It is meant to be a complete head fuck though SATURDAY 11TH AUGUST AUSTIN POWERS: INTERNATIONAL MAN OF MYSTERY 9.10pm Channel 4 I prefer the second one, but both are funny as fuck. Third one was shite though JACOB'S LADDER 10.30pm ITV4 Post vietnam psychological thriller. I don't rate it as highly as others personally, but it's generally viewed as a bit of a modern classic. The twist might seem tired now, but as far as I'm aware it set the standard that's been copied all over. SUNDAY 12TH AUGUST FROM DUSK TILL DAWN 11pm BBC1 Excellent first hour. Fun second hour. The flashes of carnage after Tarantino's vicious rape have always stuck with me as shocking, but you actually see nothing. Very well done that scene. WAYNE'S WORLD 11.25pm Film4 Classic comedy. Schwing! MONDAY 13TH AUGUST CAPTURING THE FRIEDMANS 10pm More4 Hard hitting documentary that started as a story of party clowns in New York, but in the end follows one clown's story after the dark history of his families past gets unearthed. His father and brother were accused of being paedophiles, and the family who've spent their lives performing on home videos caught the entire fallout on tape. Fascinating and disturbing. PREDATOR 2 10.05pm E4 Arnie's best film? No, that's The Running Man, but this is still very good. TUESDAY 14TH AUGUST RUMBLE FISH 10.50pm Film4 Highly rated Francis Ford Coppola film. His first new film in a decade (Youth without Youth) is out this year, so this is a good reaquaint yourself with his work. THIS SPORTING LIFE 12midnight BBC2 Superior 60's 'kitchen sink' British drama. Richard Harris is a legend. THURSDAY 16TH AUGUST SPIDER-MAN 2 9pm Five US Superb action sequel. The best super hero series going at the moment (I haven't seen 3 though) THE WICKER MAN 10pm ITV4 There's a couple of ignant fools on here who'll tell you it's tedious stuff. But it freaked the shit out of me when I first saw it last year. Excellent I thought. FRIDAY 17TH AUGUST OLD BOY 11pm Film4 *film of the week* If you read my openng post in the 'introduction to oriental cinema' thread, you'll know that this is the one film I recommended above all else if you fancy getting into this stuff. A stunningly designed film.
  12. As Howlin' Pelle Almqvist said, 'hate to say I told you so'
  13. Couldn't afford the £3500 a month for his treatment in the end. A fund had to be set up for him. Mind you, look what he spent on that table
  14. That bad? Never heard of Severence to be honest with you, but looking it up, it seems it was done by the bloke that did the shit London horror 'Creep'. 15. Borat Don't bother with the other two.
  16. Not heard of it before, sounds like a Dark Side of the Moon/Wizard of Oz experiment of your own concoction. The one I watched goes on for an hour and a half, and all but 20 minutes of it must be the control room and silence. lol i forgot about the old dark side of the moon/ wizard of oz thing! Ive got the DVD now (cause of the kids not because I'm a friend of meenzers) so perhaps I should give it a go - how do you do it again? http://www.everwonder.com/david/wizardofoz/

  18. I signed up for the pilot of the BBCs webarchive of videos so I've been watching some diverse and interesting stuff. The Black Stuff - the original play that led to the Boys From The Blackstuff follow up series. The moon landing, it's dull as ditchwater like. A documentary about gangs of teenagers roaming the streets slashing each others faces, fighting with axes and chains because there's nothing better to do...it was made in 1956 nothing changes. Another documentary from the time of Enoch Powells rivers of blood speech which follows 3 afro carribean families struggling to live with racism and hoping to return to their homeland. lso, a bit of a listen to Top Gear (John Peel's original show on Radio 1) from 1968 and a show about Visconti concentrating on his time with Marc Bolan.
  19. Jonny Briggs always punishes me. brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrup, bup, bup, bup bup, bup, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr baddle, addle, up bup brrrrrrrrr
  20. I've never been good with the dirty talk like "oooh yeah baby, now stroke your boob, you like that don't you? Now have a bit of a fiddle with your blit." Come off it.
