Anyone seen "My Kid Could Paint That"? Raises some points about talent and the worth of art depending entirely on who produced it. Trailer Kid Rock could write Imagine...and it would still be shit.

If he left he'd be taking a wage cut and we'd be saving over 100k a week so I'm not too sure about that. -

Why was Dyer so vilified? Talented player that was very injury prone who tried the patience of fans and inflamed their ire. Difference is Dyer wasn't good enough to be a key England player so the question of him playing MORE internationals than club games never arose. I don't think there were many fans sad to see the back of him. So far you'd have to say Owen has been a far more costly luxury.....but he can be a far more valuable asset, if he plays games. If he plays, say, 25 - 30 games this season for Newcastle I'll not be complaining. -
tbf I agree with Pat. I wouldn't give a fuck if he played every game for England, lived dahn sarf, was on a diet of jellied eels and walked around with his thumbs in the lapels of a pearly king outfit. As long as he played in Newcastles games. If he starts against Spurs the whole discussion is moot. Fingers crossed, he will.

Not suprising when you compare the England Internationals in the teams though.

You've put as much a positive spin on it as the Sun put a negative one. It's not a player just saying he takes the advice of his surgeon, but that he'll listen exclusively to that advice and has chosen to completely discount his club managers opinion. That's not him saying Sam won't dictate when he plays either, but I think it's newsworthy. “I’ll listen to the surgeon and not anyone else because she knows what she is talking about. “Could I play against Estonia? I don’t see why not. The surgeon tells me nothing can go wrong in terms of the operation. “I know the manager here said I did it in the last international matches but I was playing in pain even before them.” “I’ve been pushing myself through a lot of pain for about six weeks — even before the last two internationals.” “It’s unbelievable. It feels great. It’s much stronger than when I went in. “As long as you can manage the pain, it won’t get any worse. Thankfully now I can go out and not feel any pain. I’m available for both sides I represent.” Great insight HF, stick to films son Ya reet like, I can't compete with you, I mean that response was worthy of Brian Woolnough.

SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Louise Ogborn displayed no signs of disappointment after her $200 million lawsuit against McDonald's Corp. resulted in a $6.1 million jury award for being forced to strip in a restaurant office after someone called posing as a police officer. Her lawyer saw the verdict as a victory for their argument that the company had been negligent by failing to warn Ogborn and other employees about the caller who had already struck other McDonald's stores and other fast-food restaurants across the country. "Louise has stood up for what happened to her and what McDonald's failed to do for three and a half years, and this jury just vindicated her completely," said her attorney, Ann Oldfather. Ogborn, 21, was awarded $5 million in punitive damages and just over $1.1 million in compensatory damages following a four-week trial and about 13 hours of jury deliberations spread over two days. "There is no way anyone is going to be disappointed with the thoughtfulness of this jury," Oldfather said, calling the ruling a "resounding rejection" of McDonald's claim it shouldered no fault for what happened to Ogborn in April 2004 at its restaurant about 20 miles south of Louisville. Juror Kay Parrish later told reporters that the award would enable Ogborn to "live well the rest of her life" and "put all this behind her." "There's nobody in the world worth $200 million," Parrish said. McDonald's attorneys argued the company was not responsible for the incident. A teary Ogborn hugged relatives after the verdict was read and later expressed relief the case was over. She said she planned to use some of the money to attend law school. McDonald's is evaluating whether to appeal the decision, a spokesman said. "While we are disappointed with the verdict, we remain vigilant in our efforts to protect our employees and provide them with a safe and respectful workplace," said William Whitman, a spokesman for McDonald's USA. In setting the compensatory damages, the Bullitt County Circuit Court jury put half the blame for the incident on McDonald's and the other half on the unnamed caller. Oldfather told reporters that she would argue that McDonald's should be held liable for the entire $6.1 million. The jury also awarded $1.1 million to Donna Summers, a former McDonald's assistant store manager who also sued the fast-food chain. Summers, who had asked the jury to award her $50 million, led the strip search of Ogborn at the direction of the hoax caller. Summers was placed on probation for a misdemeanor conviction in relation to the incident. Her former fiance, Walter Nix Jr., is serving five years in prison for sexually abusing Ogborn during the hoax call. A Florida man, David Stewart, was acquitted last year on charges of making the hoax phone call. Police have said the calls stopped after Stewart's arrest. On Friday, Summers expressed vindication with the verdict. "For the first time in three and a half years I can hold my head up," she said. Ogborn, who was 18 at the time of the search, accused the company of negligence leading up to the events in which she was detained for 3 1/2 hours. In the lawsuit, she said someone called the restaurant in Mount Washington impersonating a police officer and gave a description of a young, female employee, accusing her of stealing from a customer. The caller instructed an employee to strip search the woman, according to testimony. Ogborn was forced to undress, endure a strip search, and to perform sexual acts, the lawsuit said. The events were captured on surveillance video, which was shown to jurors during the trial. Summers and Kim Dockery, a McDonald's assistant manager, also were named as defendants in Ogborn's suit, but the jury ruled they did not have to pay any damages. Oldfather said that Summers and Dockery were duped by the hoax caller, as other fast-food restaurant managers across the country had been. "Everybody is still suffering because of this, and now maybe McDonald's will suffer a little bit in the pocketbook," Oldfather said.

I don't think it would be a bad idea for Allardyce to ask him to take the fortnight to get fully fit in training, rather than in 2 competitive games in 4 days. Which is something Fifa prevents Allardyce from doing. I'd like to think McLaren would have the sense to use Owen sparingly though if he can. Aye, well the number of times Ryan Giggs has sustained slight strains on the eve of a Wales game suggests there are ways around that. I'd hoped Englands Michael Owen would suffer "a reaction" to his involvement yesterday because if these internationals prove to be close games I can see him figuring in the majority of both (if he lasts them). I can't see him then coming back on the Monday and getting 90 minutes for us against Spurs if it's his third game in just over a week. Name an England player who's done that though. Anyway, my main point was to counter your 'blaming' Allardyce, although personally I don't see anyone as being at fault in this in any case. Perhaps, I suppose Lampard is available to play for England after one game for Chelsea (though hopefully he won't if McClaren knows what he's doing). I'd just like to see Owen wrapped in cotton wool, but I can't blame the lad for wanting to play all the games he can. So it's up to Allardyce to look out for the interests of Newcastle. I'll guarantee he doesn't play the full 90 against Spurs for us. Perhaps? I'm spot on man dickheed! Well I'm not an argumentative mong who'll just string out an argument for arguments sake so I thought I'd relate that I took your point. Thanks for the magnanimous way you took it By next Wednesday he'll have played more games for England than he has for the Toon since his arrival here (I think). It's bad luck and you can't blame anyone for the injuries, but something has to be done to make sure we stop the pattern. Sending him off for two England games in four days after just 15 minutes of first team action is exactly what leads to his unpopularity. Especially if/when he comes back knackered. -
I don't watch the rugby, but I caught that. Couple of their players blatantly aren't fussed on it. You get the mad ones pulling faces which are champion, but the half hearted attempts with all the conviction of a David Beckham cameo are hilarious. That bearded fella playing for France that looks like Non out of Superman 2 was scariest. Geet proper stared them out.

Is that a variation on the Larry David "Big vagina" action?

Explain. I'd not read the James Blunt thread. I assumed this was a joke. If it's not I apologise and hope you get well soon. I'm halfway through the Blunt thread now though and I have to say it's gerld. The funniest thing is the righteous indignation of people saying you're scum for liking the blunt then recommending Jack Johnson or Newton Faulkner. Sorry that has what to do with Kid Rock? Where you said his new album was "Even better than James Blunt's". You could say that about the greatest hits of The Chipmunks. I see. So you'll have given James Blunt's new album a listen then have you, Verlaine? I don't think I've listened to a Blunt track since I heard You're Beautiful and was stunned that a man would want to put his name to such immature lyrics. Call me Verlaine, but you've already seen the reaction of 99% of posters on here to Blunt. So when you made the comparison, you were fishing for exactly this kind of response.
