  1. Should a completely unexperienced man walk into the biggest profile job in English management? Could ruin him imo. He'd be daft to go near.
  2. Sven was a lucky manager. Barlow is unlucky. That's all.
  3. They make a bom of those swipe card tv/phone combos now don't they so they may well have.
  4. I'll shall put TGTBATU on in his honour when I get in after the match tonight. When my nanna was dying we spent a lot of christmas and new year in hospital with her, as sad a time as it was, I still have more positive memories of that christmas than any other. Make the most of the time left. Leave him in no doubt how you feel about him. Chin up.
  5. Got nowt in yet, but I plan to find a canny digital picture frame online and order one for everyone I know. A gift fit for anyone.
  6. Can't argue that, Sam brought in Enrique, Rozenhal, Cacapa, Beye, and Faye to defend. We have a defence that has allowed 18 goals against in 12 games, and 8 of those at home. That is an under-performing defense in anyone's book. Considering that we have 19 goals for in 12 games, 11 of those at home, it's easy to see where the biggest problem is, at the back as usual. Don't listen to Lawrenson man. The defence performed well last year. Far better than attack. Yeah, it's just a cliche that won't go away. Even Boumsong probably wasn't as bad as some of the media would have you believe and Bramble certainly wasn't. Not surprisingly they've latched onto Cacapa now. Bizarrely they seem to rate Taylor though. Last season scoring was the problem btw. We could have the best defence in the league for several seasons and that would still be brought out at any defensive mistake. Under Robson our defensive record was very good in at least 2 seasons and it still never stops. Excellent under KK too. In fact the "if you score two, we'll score three" mentality/style of play we supposedly had was even more evident in Man Utd at the time. Aye I think it's just the only time the media really comments on Newcastles football is when we've just won 5-4 or just lost due to a stupid mistake and that just feeds the misconception. Well that and when they struggle for something to say it's very easy for same old chestnuts are brought out and dusted off. Yep. This year it's spot on though. there's only 3 teams higher than us who've scored more goals, so as much as people complain about our dull, unimaginative attacking...it's paying dividends....probably because they're somewhat used to each other. At the back however we've conceded considerably more than anyone else above us. You have to question the common sense in completely dismantling a defence that was working well. Buying six defenders who so far have looked very hit and miss (and certainly no better than who they replaced) at knock down prices rather than improving on the solid base we had with a couple of more expensive improvements in key positions has proved costly. Getting rid of a number of players on your first day at the club was (I think) a terrible mistake. It hardly indicates a willingness for players to prove themselves and indicates that you'll base decisions on what you've heard rather than make your own mind up after watching them play.

  8. All shit bar the pianist. Aye but you thought American Gangster was shit which I enjoyed this evening. Not sure of the relevance. What you think is shit, others might quite enjoy.
  9. None of the big 4, but almost half our games have been against top ten opposition...which is where we want to be...realistically.

  11. With all the Polanski talk I went in search of a purchase. Found this bargain... http://www.dvd.co.uk/DVD/Roman-Polanski-Bo...CID=0&CTY=8
  12. Are you off the meds? The ending is perfect. One of the best films ever made tbh. Great film. Good as a double bill with Cul-de-Sac. The Tenant all the way.
  13. Class man. Hostel 3 wants to be better than 2 though. I haven't seen it but that's some review all the same No words of damnation can carry the same deterrent as an endorsement from HF to be fair. If I'm deterring you I'm on the right track
  14. Why is Steve Bruce a good boss? I'd put him on a par with Bryan Robson as a good player who's never been able to cut it as a manager. I'm paricularly confused as to why Wigan want him back after his last 3 game stay (or something close to that). And when you've got a surname that could be a forename, your parents should never use Roger as a middle name. Steve Roger Bruce sounds far too much like gay porno direction.

  16. Ben Haim can play all across the back can't he? Plus Big Sam might be going for 3 at the back. All though Taylor and Geremi can play right back if needed. Round pegs.... Taylor looks especially shit at right back. His roaming leaves the defense far more exposed.
  17. With Solano, Dyer and Parker away, only to be replaced by Barton and Geremi, neither of whom are particularly creative (nor have worked out particularly good at anything so far) it's not suprising we're missing a bit of spark. But he's already gone through £20M to little improvement at either end of the pitch. He needs to get his signings performing. Totally agree with you about Solano, but I don't think we are exactly lamenting the loss of Dyer or Parker. Dyer never achieved his potential with us, but I think going forward he was a better player than any of our current midfield.
  18. Surely if we are going to buy any defenders it should be a right back, and then left back cover.
  19. He's been here 2 years and 3 months now. I'm not for rushing a judgement on Allardyce, but I think it's fair to say Owen hasn't worked out. It definitely hasn't worked out and I'm not suggesting people can't comment on the latest set-back etc. I just think the summer is when the club decides what happens re: allowing him to leave / a new contract etc. So I should have said 'assess' what to do next rather than 'judge' his time here, if you see what I mean. I do. TBF I have no axe to grind with his latest set back. He'd played a few games for us unscathed so you can't really complain that he was injured after a half hour for England. Even in a friendly. If he was still being flogged like a dead horse after 80 minutes and strained something then I might be more angry about it, but it's just one of those things as far as I'm concerned. Of course, if his first game back is the France friendly next year I'll go scatty.

  21. Owen. It's pretty impressive to continue getting international call-ups based on no appearances, then once fit, poor performances with no goals.

  23. Can't agree with that like. The most damning indictment of it is the bloke who wrote it. It's the same fella who wrote the shite about Ashley chasing Redknapp. He seems to be on a one man crusade to get Allardyce out. Anyone got an email address for this twat?
