No, I was more specific than he ever was.

Just to expand on that a bit... Robson won 14 out of 32 games in his first season Allardyce is currently sat on 5 out of 14 In his first 14 games Robson won 6 compared to 5 from Allardyce So Sir Berb had a slightly better start, but not by any great margin. In his first 14 games Robson's team lost 4-1 to Coventry, 2-0 to Bradford and were held to a draw by Watford. Similarly bad results against poor opposition that we've had from Sam. The fans obviously had more faith in Robson due to his vastly superior track record, but if he didn't have us beating Watford (who were relegated with an embarrasing 24 points that year) given his evident talent as a boss, is there any other reason people think Sam should go, given his comparable start in the job?

Totally agree and I would add that this is my favourite Coen film. Tuesday to Thursday's looking a bit thin. I'm a fan of the Coens and I really didn't like it. The you deserve the high hat! It just isn't very good IMO. Which two Scorcese films do you think are better than Goodfellas btw? Raging Bull and Taxi Driver.
-
Because? Cause above everything we need organising and a re-vamp of the set up. Something he knows a thing or two about from his time at Bolton. His attention to detail and empahsis on player development and motivation and his overall psychological approach (something that some of our player sorely need). IMO Sam will put this background structure in place (and it wil take 2 seasons at least to start showing) and this will be the platform to his legacy. It is exactly what we need. For now the system of play and purchases and other 'on field' stuff although important ( and will be communicated to the side) is not quite as critical as making the base right to take us forward. That is why I feel at this moment he is a godsend. Yeah, but it took him some time. As I say, he finished 16th and 17th in the league. The "Geordie faithful" won't stand for that. We'll have him booed out of the job by Christmas. Damn it hurts. It hurts to be THIS right!

After one of our easiest starts to a PL season. If you think we're better than we are. But half of our first 8 games were against teams who finished above us last season. And 4 of the last 6 have been. So we've played more teams better than us, than worse.
-
Form is temporary. After the first 8 games we were a point off Chelsea. I'll tell you what, if we drop as low as 13th (where we finished last year) we can all say he might deserve the sack. Until then why don't we all get behind him?
-
Without a starting defender having been acquainted with another before the season started in any game. I advocate patience.
-
Howay man. Carrot and stick. You're going to beat the players up after the commitment they put in yesterday? Win things? Are you in cloud cuckoo land? what happened to a few years of consolidation? We never "won things" with Keegan or Robson either, and they'd built some canny nifty teams over more than 15 games.
-
He hasn't lost more than 2 games on the trot ffs. I like to think Mort will have a calmer head than this.
-
Agreed, but it doesn't excuse consistently shite tactics and baffling team selections. He's testing the water, finding his feet. The fact is we do need to defend better and he's experimenting. It's not an exact science. If he picked the predictable team and tactics what would be different between him and last season's regime? We can't attack nor defend, Roeder proved that last season. Sam is trying to address the latter first, evident by his signings, and whilst he hasn't got it right instantly, that doesn't mean he won't. And how long do you suggest we should haemorrage goals before he thinks about changing it? Yes we've adopted a more defensive approach but it still hasn't stopped us conceding. A glorious free kick, a fortunate rebound in off the post and a last minute attack while we were pushing for goals (having taken off a defender for a striker in a show of positivity people on here have been crying out for) was unfair on our defence yesterday...and had our finishing been better, they could have conceded just as many.
-
Since when did you become chief fucking moaner? Honestly, I thought you had more sense than to advocate getting shot of a manager 14 games into a campaign. If we were rock bottom and hadn't won a game, fine, but fucking hell the way you're going on you would think we were dead certs for the drop. Changing a club from top to bottom takes time. I'm amazed you don't see that. Conceding ten goals in three games and I dread to think how many against Arsenal, is relegation form. I'm amazed you don't see that Ten? Seven, isn't it? And Blackburn have conceded 7 too, but people talk up Hughes like we should get him in.

SUNDAY 2ND DECEMBER BACK TO THE FUTURE 2.25pm ITV2 Do they just put this on every week now? If not they should. STAR WARS - EPISODE I: THE PHANTOM MENACE 4.15pm ITV1 Oh dear. Midichlorians? PRIZZI'S HONOR 9pm ITV3 John Huston directs Jack Nicholson? This has to be any good. CHOPPER 12.20am BBC2 There's a new film out called The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford which some people are touting as film of the year and a bit of a classic existential western. I've not seen it, but Andrew Dominik directed it and he did a damn fine job of Chopper, his debut. Worth being late for work on Monday for. MONDAY 3RD DECEMBER THE DESCENT 10pm Channel 4 You might like it, you might not. I thought there was some canny shite acting going on, but the scares were brilliant and the sense of claustrophobia intense. GOODFELLAS 10pm five Can you imagine making this film...and it only being the 3rd best film you'd done? Quite astonishing when you think about it. MIDNIGHT COWBOY 1am Channel 4 err you dirty rotter. FRIDAY 7TH DECEMBER GHOSTBUSTERS 7pm Film4 I don't think I've rewatched this since it was out in the 80's MILLER'S CROSSING 11.10pm Film4 The most underrated gangster film out there. The Coen brothers are a pair of geniuses. SULLIVAN'S TRAVELS 1.20am Film4 And they owe it all to Preston Sturges. What a double bill.

Just finished Series 1. Wasn't too keen after 5 or so episodes. But watched the last 6 tonight and it got a lot better. Especially with the ultra violence. How bad was it when Titus Pullo killed the the slaves bloke. I think he's one of my favourite tv characters now. Still a bit expensive serie 2 though.

As it deserves. Back in 1996 when the only people that used the Internet lived with their parents, Star Wars was number one. TGTBATU sat in a lowly 45th spot. http://web.archive.org/web/19961219233558/...m/top_250_films Ten years later it had managed to climb up to 11th. As the Internet was by then pretty much reprasentative of the whole of society it's gotten more and more votes, but it still has less votes than any other film above it and than all but 2 other films in the top 20. http://web.archive.org/web/20060203044927/imdb.com/chart/top In the last 2 years it's climbed up to 4th place on a third of the votes of The Godfather and Shawshank. http://www.imdb.com/chart/top If you've not seen it, watch it. Seriously, it's coppers... http://www.dvd.co.uk/DVD/Good-The-Bad-And-...CID=0&CTY=8 I can't imagine a better use for £4.95. And when it's top, you can tell everyone how much you liked it before it was officially the best film ever.

Positive? Given Beye Faye Rozenhal N' Zogbia Geremi Butt Barton Martins Milner Smith Can't see that middle 3 being owt but a first line of defence...if that.
-
That makes Zoggy a left back dunnit.
-
Milner, Faye and Barton in. Emre, Enrique and Viduka out. I guess that's Smith being played up front at least. Hopefully he'll get Zoggy and Milner on the correct wings.

Some of you seem to have got off on the wrong foot with me. You didn't like some of the instructions I gave earlier. You've got to chill out, yeah, trust me, this is what I do, alright? You will never work in a place like this again. This is brilliant. Fact. And you will never have another boss like me. Someone who's basically football scientist.

Difference is the content in private eye can be funny outside of the letters pages. The comics in viz are entirely humourless. I don't know, they have their moments - 'Arseless Chaps Moses' is a recent highlight. My most recent one I've enjoyed was Eminemis The Menace
