Which two? I thought Souness, Roeder and Allardyce would be equally unpopular with you and Jimbo and that. I'd be happy see Allardyce go if we had a quality replacement. I'd have been happy to see Roder go if we had a quality replacement. But we didn't then and we don't now. When names start getting linked with the job, if they're any good I might hop on the bandwagon. Until then I'll just keep supporting the bloke who's there who's not been any worse than anything served up in the last 3 years. Indefensible? With his selections, it looks to me like he only came for the pay off, a sort of legitimate bung, and I don't want to give him that satisfaction.

I can't explain Sam's daft choices. I think he's tactically simple (see my long winded post in the other thread). We're not in any danger of going down though and I'd like to see a manager given a couple of seasons to see if he can get it right, rather than the kneejerk reaction of sacking ANYONE who makes a choice I disagree with. It's the same position I held with Roeder. Most of all, 5 managers in 3 years would be embarrassing. ...and we did have a shot on target yesterday. Bramble cleared off the line. Wigan scored 5 against Blackburn, but people still tout Hughes as future toon boss. The 'grass is always greener' mentality of some people is silly.

I'd be happier than the day we got 'proven' Allardyce or Souness.

Allardyce close to breaking point at Newcastle

I'm gutted. -
As self-effacing as Allardyce and as insightful as Souness.

2007 was altogether abysmal. One bright spot was gaining a nephew. Hopefully 2008 will invert it and I'll only have one thing to be pissed off about.

Allardyce close to breaking point at Newcastle

I wrote this for N-O in October, during our "best start in 10 years". Some of it's out of date, but the main premise (that Allardyce has always been a hack) still stands... -
Interesting. We got 3 points from Fulham away this year though btw. Of course you could also interpret that as having turned the corner. 8 points from the last 5 teams played...who we only took 5 off last season.

and there was me, foolish enough to expect some progress. We've progressed in that we're higher than we were last season. I still can't see how we're any worse though.
-
Same amount of points as we got from Wigan last season. not unacceptable afaic.

I don't remember ever believing in Santa. Or the tooth fairy. I distinctly remember doing my utmost to look excited by the gifts I received and thinking I might be over-egging it. 25 years on my mam still marvels at how hyper I'd get. Can't bare to tell her it was just for her benefit.

We've played Derby twice which means we have 2 games left with a max of 11 - be still my beating heart. (One of which on current standings is a derby which is more unpredictable than a "normal" game against a shit team). It'll be an improvement, that's all I ask. You're like a Big Brother contestant that wants fame without any of the work.

Last year we got 8 points from 18 off the bottom 3. We're half way through the season and we've took 5 off the 3 that replaced them already. It's not like he's dragging us down to a new low.

Who will be sacked by 2008?

Villa have Chelsea next so it's not inconceivable we go equal 8th on Wednesday. Portsmouth have Arsenal too so we could be within a point of seventh. But we've got a striker on the right wing. Unacceptable.
