Explain this goddam weak-ass post beyond 'give him a chance'. Souness-Roeder-Allardyce-Tastic. I gave them all a chance. Are you just going to write him off before a ball has been kicked? If we don't beat Stoke he needs to be sacked like. Make or break game.

Harry's not a hack.

If Redknapp had got the job when Allardyce did (ie Shepherd had appointed him), I reckon it would have been greeted with more good cheer. The fact that the new owner has spent £200M+ on the club so far might have raised expectation somewhat as to his direction, which means people are going to be disillussioned when his new man has only a couple of games experience in Europe. Hardly reaching for the stars.

How would you take the club forward ?

I'll just keep giving them my money. -
his solo stuff any good? It's a soundtrack to the new PT Anderson film. Some of it's your standard dramatic strings and excitingly plucked violins perfected by Leonard Bernstein, but a lot of it is really maudlin and atmospheric. Every time I put it on it only seems to last 10 minutes. Aye it's good.

Mike Ashley spots an old lady struggling with her shopping. "Can you manage pet?" He shouts So she shouts back.... "Fuck off I don't want the job!"

He's not standing by his Lippi story?! -
Jimbo would say we're improving at deciding when people are shit. It's a good thing.

Sums it up perfectly. Leazes was right! Hasn't Ashley put £250m into the club though, reducing the debt etc? Bought for £100M odd, $75M of debt and £10M on players isn't it? -

This is the way to go now, and I hope it happens for the sake of the club. Even if they sit down and can't agree terms, what do people expect to happen then? "Oh well, let's see if Mourinho fancies it"? Bollocks, the options will get worse and worse and it'll be an embarrassing hunt, the previous one of which ended with Souness, this one I guess ending with Mclaren. An absoloute embarrassment if it happened. Harry Redknapp's black and white army!
-
"What the fucking hell is that?" "Let's all laugh at Portsmouth, lalalaaaaala"
-
Would you expect a team like Portsmouth to have a big win ratio though? Souness has managed mostly top clubs which is why his record is so pathetic. It was Souness' record at Newcastle I was talking about, where we finished lower than Portsmouth have in Harry's spells. Souness had plenty of european games against fc windowcleaner to placate the fans.
-
I know you're fond of your Roeder win ratio stat but it's fairly clear to me that 1) It was skewed by his time as caretaker and 2) It was getting prgressively worse all the time. Wasn't a "how great is Roeder" point (that was in another thread). But that Redknapp doesn't achieve a level even our most hated managers could.
-
Though this doesn't bode well... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Redknapp#Managerial_stats He doesn't really win enough games does he? Only one club where he did better than Roeder did at Newcastle. Even in his most recent spell at Portsmouth, he's won less than Souness.

Portsmouth fans will be seething like, first he fucks off to Southampton, now he's leaving them just as they thought they were the dogs bollocks. -
It's you that's got Messiahitis. I think I'm seeing things on here today. Every pro-Redknapp post on here is exactly what was said about Allardyce. Fucking time-warp. Not me Mr, I despised everything about Allardyce. I have the odd reservation about Redknapp (he's on bail, will he really fly back and forward? etc) and the boards limited ambition in having him down as their number one target. But he'd be a better appointment than Allardyce or Souness. He's took West Ham and Portsmouth from the doldrums into the upper echelons in short timescales, none of your 5 year plans from him.

Will he get the time to implement such changes to enable us to develop players of the calibre? He'll have to balance that with visible improvement on the field. If we ban Jimbo he might.
-
Wasn't a certain Glenn Roeder actually responsible for the youth set up while Harry was in charge at Upton Park?? Knew I was right about Roeder. Our best Premier league manager after Keegan and Robson.
-
"Helped bring through a number of young players from the club's academy, including Rio Ferdinand, Joe Cole, Michael Carrick and his nephew Frank Lampard" The idea's growing on me more and more like.
-
Apparently he has no sense of smell.
-
Maybe he could convince young Lampard to come here.
-
It would definitely be a change for the better.
