  1. Anything from the eighties goes without saying really. Hardly anything managed to raise the bar above turd, but we all enjoyed Short Circuit, Police Academy, Ferris Beuller, Goonies, Weird Science, D.A.R.Y.L. and That.
  2. Approaching middle age is why they changed to NKOTB in the first place wasn't it? Rolls off the tongue like.
  3. A mention on .com I'm getting all emotional.
  4. RICO on 5 stars? Obviously an inverse scale.
  5. The only victim in all this being one of the people you want culled? Lol, you never know, it may have been her idea all along. Can't believe I was so blind. She's played them all like keys on a bontempi keyboard. Got herself a nice middle class pad out of it.
  6. Obviously the nerve is still a bit too raw for "Englands number one".

  8. Was it not John Woo? Not sure. I seem to remember Yuen Woo Ping was brought in for the Matrix because he'd done the old camera around someone in mid-kick trick in one of his films. I thought it might have been Iron Monkey, but I might be wrong.
  9. Bombadil, I love you, but sooner or later, you're going to have to realize the fact that you're a god damn moron.
  10. I saw the first one the weekend it came out, without any hype. I came out of the cinema thinking "Meh, just a nerds wet dream!". Nice bit of action at the end, but I'm not even sure if The Matrix was the first place 'bullet time' and that were used. I couldn't swear to it but i thought they got it from out East.
  11. Missed the blatant subtext probably. Both condescending and pretentious at once. I expect better of you Alex. I was quoting you btw. I know. But without a wink I thought I'd suggest otherwise for people without memories of the glory days of the film thread.

  13. Not sure my varying interpretations of the question will be acceptable.... Charlies Angels is cracking fun Bringing Out The Dead is harshly judged in the Scorsese back catalogue. I really enjoyed Shawshank and Leon...but they get shiter and shiter. Hostel gets the shite ripped out of it on here, as does the Descent, I loved them both. Planet Terror is seen as the inferior partner to Death Proof, but it should have been Rodriguez's film in Cannes and that. Meet The Parents and Meet The Fockers are excellent comedies if you ask me. Pleasantville doesn't get the praise it deserves. The Story of Ricky is poorly acted with terrible effects and is hilarious.
  14. I wonder if they realise you can tell a very similar story about many of the players, Alan Smith for example... I'm all for bigging up Newcastle players, but I don't get why they've singled Geremi out based on generally coincidental numbers and a persistence in selecting him no matter how badly he played. I mean, we've lost 32 points in games Geremi has played too.
  15. It was either Queen or solo Freddie Mercury who sang.... "I go crazy oh so crazy Watching Michael Owen Dee do de de dee do de de he dont have no time for no monkey business (Oba) Dee do de de dee do de de he just score goalys goalys goalys yeah Got to be some good times ahead"
  16. I remember a lad I used to work with who'd take his own helmet, boots, overalls, gloves and that.
  17. Me either. They should have done it in colour as well I thought. are you sure you've got the right film here alex? I think he means Blood Simple.
  18. Come all without, Come all within, You'll not see nothing like Michael Owen.
  19. I don't think I've enjoyed any Terry Gilliam. Brazil and Fear and Loathing spring to mind. People cream their pants over them. I see very little to enjoy in any of them.
  20. Michael Owen Michael Owen Yeah eah eah Michael Owen Was sang for a few seconds after he scored on Saturday, at least by a few thousand in Leazes L7. I'm sure as Newcastles rise to power continues all petty complaints with individuals will be forgottten by the majority.
  21. As much as I appreciate the point behind films like Irreversible and Funny Games (braying the viewer around the head for having previously laughed at violence or been excited by murder on film) I still don't buy into the notion that as a responsible audience member I should reject thrills and spills altogether. I've had The Piano Teacher on my shelf for at least 2 years now, but still not put it on, I get the impression Haneke is presenting a double standard from what films of his I have seen so far though. In Funny Games he refuses to put any violent acts on screen, only showing the aftermath so the viewer only deals with consequences and never gets the 'fun bit'......but then in Hidden the throat cutting scene is clearly the must heart pumping in the entire film. Brutal and Terrifying, fair enough, but he's still satisfying the bloodlust of a conventional thriller viewer.
  22. Because he's a fucking prick ? I was looking for a bit more than that, I dont really get into the whole tabolid celeb life thing. I know he takes drugs, makes music (which I actually really like) and gets arrested for stupid things but I havent heard of anything he has done which makes him stand out more than your regular "off the rails" musician but he seems to get soo much stick. Was just wondering if I had missed something? I think I hate the beehive headed woman more like.
