  1. Mascherano, Alonso, Renia, Agger, Babel, Kewell, Morientes, Anelka (albeit on loan). I'd say a tier 1 player should be a pivitol player in both their league and international teams. I'd agree that a couple of those are. But then a couple of Newcastles have been too.

  3. It's a tricky one, I'm sure his advisors have reminded him he can walk on a free next summer or something similar. That's why I reckon he'll sign. There's been no interest shown even when he did have a buyout clause in his contract. Even on a free, are many clubs going to spend £100k+ a week on a 30* year old that's scored 20* goals in 3* years? He could be throwing away a shitload of money if he has another catastrophe that fucks his season up this year. *just guesses
  4. That's some budget you've got this summer. Correct policy as well. What's Spurs spending up to now? Modric - 15.8m initial GDS - 4.5m initial Gomes - awaiting work permit / personal terms Don't forget Bostock was 700K. Also Modric deal is £16.6M and Giovanni is £4.7M. £22M so far. If they buy these other two and sell Berba and Keane to pay for it all, I'd worry about where the goals will come from as the new signings take time to settle. Modric rises to 20m if they qualify for Europe. ITK-tastic!! Incorrect, the statement to the stock exchange said 4 payments of 4.125m over four year if all criteria met. Not that Spurs would have to worry about that criteria anyway.
  5. If the current contract is honoured and we introduce a £10M buyout clause to come into effect once the current contract expires I think he would.
  6. Aye, assuming they are putting in a wage structure (and it's still hard to say as there's nothing really definite either way), it's bound to be painful and effect recruitment and therefore Premiership achievement for a season at least (maybe quite a few more). The worrying thing is that although some of FFS dealing were silly, at the same time we'll always be paying more all things being equal, which is being made worse by the money other clubs are throwing around now. Newcastle with a wage structure is like a dead shark. Huh? Going nowhere? Just don't get why having some structure is such a bad thing. Structures are fine, but they have to be flexible or we'll have to rule out all tier one players for the near future. When was the last time you bought one of those? ... Shearer? How many times have Liverpool spent more than Newcastle did for Shearer or Owen? Genuine question. Just the one springs to mind. The question is not how much was spent ... the question is ... were they tier one or not? I take it it is just one then. So which of Liverpools signings in the last 10 years have been tier one...other than Torres?

Should you discipline your kids and make them adhere to strict rules to keep them on the straight and narrow, or let them do as they please so their spirits can soar? Parky's an old hippy so he'd say option B.

  11. You mean when you came fifth?
  12. Have you seen our opening fixtures? I think he'll be riding a media storm early on. That's not to say he'll go though. He rode a media storm for his first 9 or so games.
  13. You're forty to one to have a long johnson?
  14. Nope. as I said he was asked to leave Man City. If by "fans" you're referring to an ill-informed minority I suppose that could be called a fact. The only fact in your list. But then Jol had odds as long as Ramos this time last year.
  15. Things not going his way? Keegan has left EVERY club he's managed better than he found it. Then as soon as there was a whiff of trouble.... I am doubting his record as a manager, just that he is percieved by 99% of people as a bottler. But you could be right maybe everybody else is crazy and you're the sane ones. More a whiff of those above him not matching his own ambition. Like he said when he left Newcastle and those in charge were more interested in the business side of becoming a PLC and raking in the dividends and like he said when he was asked to leave City as their longest serving manager in 26 years and getting them into Europe without getting the reward of the sort of investment needed to maintain it.

  17. Keegan wanted to see out his Man City contract. John Wardle wanted a new man in place at the earliest opportunity so asked him to go.
