  1. You might be happy with the way things are going so far but I`m worried. We needed players to come into the squad and have a full pre-season with the lads. We are either going to panic buy and end up with the wrong players or not sign anyone We are going to get players who the top for and Spurs dont want We will be competing with Pompey,City,Everton and Blackburn for players and do you trust Wise and co to sell the club to them?? There's no arguing with that is there? Whatever the club does, some supporters will complain about the lack of vision behind any flurry of signings we do make (like Guthrie) because we simply can't attract top players without European football. Even more would complain if no signings at all were made. The one thing the club hasn't done is panic buy, either in this window, or the January one. The players we bring in have to be either better than what we have, or potentially better and cheaper. Clearly this rule is being adhered to hard and fast. At the end of last season anyone who expected us to spend £100M on Europe's top talent was thinking wishfully. I've always been of the opinion that 90% of any improvement we make next season will have to come from Keegan's motivation of the players already at the club. I'm sure 3 or 4 more signings will be made, I don't expect them to be any more exciting than Spiderman though.
  2. i thought this type of thing would start three weeks into the season. Premature.
  3. I still see it that way personally. Despise the nationalistic view. Clown

  6. Strange thing for Liverpool to do though, especially when they value Gareth Barry at less than £18M?
  7. In today's market it's not excessive for a player with his experience in the PL. For a 28 year old with little resale value it's a lot. Probably a better deal than ours for Owen tbf.

  9. The problem is, most of you won't have a grounding in business, so you won't know what an executive director is, however rest assured I'm right. Fuck off. What do you do for a living like? Oh no. Since t' mines closed, Im claiming diasibility, sitting round in my underwear drinking eight Newcy Broon a day, posting on here. Stevie, stop opening multiple accounts.
  10. No director (Executive or not) at the club has ever had the right to overrule the manager. Don't see why you assume this one would. He 100% would. Or he would at least hold a veto on any signing. Not quite 100% on the overruling part then?

  12. Wiki, the font of all knowledge. Written by the fans for the fans. Why dont you drop an email to the club PR department and aske what your Executive Director (Football) role entails in relation to signing players. I am sure they will give you an answer (similar to the one I have given you) It's a direct lift from the BBC report.... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/t...ted/7213096.stm But you do?

  20. Did you see the news a few weeks back about Prince contacting youtube to protect his copyright....on a cover of a Radiohead song?
  21. Well said. You are the very model of a modern lawful citizen. I just think they're missing a trick. Before I started downloading music I listened to rock and pop through and through. I would never even contemplate buying an electronic CD, an underground Hip Hop CD, an African CD, a bluegrass CD etc. The best of these genre's rarely got or still get any radio or TV play. Since downloading has enabled me to fall in love with a lot of albums from these areas I'm now a far more valuable commodity to a record company looking to sell their product. The range of my tastes has expanded exponentially and continues to. The number of artist in my 'must have' category is wider than it ever was or would have been. These are the artists I'd never have heard, that I would now gladly spend a reasonable amount on to get the CD. It's just the lack of innovation that annoys me. As always the businessmen want to stifle the most exciting developments in music and it's left to the artists like Radiohead and Girl Talk to push new release models. Singles and radio play only promote the most popular (say) 10% of what's out there, so I don't think that's as valuable. Even if they don't give it away entirely, why can't they offer something like cd's as a demo (like they do with software) that times out after 30 days or 5 full plays?

I'm hodding on until it's finished. I don't like getting to a cliff hanger at the end of a season and not being able to start the next one.
