I did not know that.

Identify your local neighbourhood facist
Happy Face replied to Dr Kenneth Noisewater's topic in General Chat
I disagree with western military presence in the middle east and the unwavering support of Israel at the expense of Palestinians. Seems the organisation that best represents my views is Al Quaeda. Pathetic, I suggest you do a bit of reseach. On what? Start with the lib dems and work away from there. Your point being the one I was making? That there's actually a less extreme alternative? -

Does that include the "I've been a member for 20 years!!" bloke? Aye, a member when the were openly Nazi. That's something to shout about Id does undermine Danny's point that when asked if the BNP was racist, its deputy leader Richard Edmonds said, "We are 100 per cent racist, yes" -

Taken me a year and a half, but eventually got hold of the back catalogue this week. Maggot Brain What a track.

Following Ralph Naders example of calling him "Uncle Tom".

He'd only been supended then and they fully expected him to return once the story had been milked for all the publicity it was worth. I'm sure it'll get another mention. Anyway.... http://www.richardherring.com/warmingup/wa...gup.php?id=2204

Did you watch that Soros link foppah? Need a plugin for it, apparently. It's on google video you muppet. Soros is one of my heroes, but in that vid he gives the game away....Near the end he says that American spending (one of the big dynamo's of world capitalism) will now switch off for a long time and needs to be replaced by something. That something he offers is global warming..ka chink!! Can't believe I'm always right. Both campaigns in the US ran on the platform of job creation through the Green bubble. Strange that they're bailing out GM to the tune of $25Billion (the 20th most toxic company in the US) to 'stabalise' the economy. Let it crash and burn, invest $25Bn on improving the electric car. If only it was that easy... They rely on the public thinking it's more complicated.

The pillaging goes on unhindered... Textbook Shock Doctrine technique.

Poor Gaunty. First he gets raped and now this.

I was contrasting, not comparing.

Same reason I don't watch the beheadings on the internet. What I've been unable to avoid has turned my stomach. I find the media fascination disturbingly morbid too. They play on peoples anger and emotion to stretch a news cycle as long as they can with the most heinous of crimes, but ignore entirely the fact that a child dies every 3 seconds from poverty, hunger, easily preventable diseases and illnesses, and other related causes.

I've read very little about this and plan to keep it that way.

Obama should bring him in to be the new Kissinger. "George believed even then in a mixed economy, one with a strong central international government to correct for the excesses of self-interest." Refreshing to hear a billionaire that believes that.

Krugman won the Nobel prize last month. Not for being spot on about Bush like.

I'm fascinated by it all. Can't read enough. She highlights the difference between the US and UK packages in more detail than I had... America would rather go bust than allow a hint of socialism into the system. Where we've nationalised the banks, the US has privatised the treasury. That 2 trillion quote above, isn't the whole story either. CNBC have totalled the bailout bill at $4,284,500,000,000, that's $4.28 trillion. http://www.cnbc.com/id/27719011/ "More than what was spent on WW II, if adjusted for inflation" And still, the anti-bailout marches go unreported by the mainstream media. Makes one wonder donnit? Quite tempted to start my Parky's top 50 people who run things and no one has ever heard of much thread. That's the kind of action we need to make people stand up and take notice. And if you haven't already, you should click on the slideshow at that CNBC link. Shows how, adjusted for inflation, nothing America has ever done before has cost them this much... Hoover Dam - $782 Million Panama Canal - $7.9 Billion Gulf War 1 - $98 Billion Marshall Plan - $115 Billion (Rebuilt the economies of every European nation involved in the war bar Germany back to pre-war levels in just 6 years) Louisiana Purchase - £217 Billion Race to the Moon - £237 Billion Savings & Loan Crisis - $256 Billion Korean War - $454 Billion The New Deal - $500 Billion Gulf War II / War on Terror - $597 Billion Vietnam War - $698 Billion NASA (Cumulative) - $851 Billion (over 50 years worth of funding) World War II - $3.6 Trillion Bailout '08 - $4.28 Trillion It's a huge sum - being handed over to private companies and shareholders. Just one last wooly liberal point... Basic health and nutrition for everyone on the planet would cost another $13 Billion. http://www.globalissues.org/article/26/pov...facts-and-stats

Naomi Klein questioned the legality of it last week, and she's expanded on it today... The full interview is here... http://www.alternet.org/workplace/107458/n...bailout/?page=1

No money man. Are you kidding me? http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?showtopic=21802 I can't remember but are there options to buy into these firms with public money or am I talking shit? That's what Brown has done. The taxpayer will get their money back, as long as the companies don't fold. Paulson has handed the banks the cash and sent out the message to private investors that there are certain companies that the government will not allow the stock to fall on. A risk free investment for the wealthy at the expense of the poor.
