Ashley: "I have not had a single credible bid"
Happy Face replied to Jimbo's topic in Newcastle Forum
Do you reckon Keegan would have agreed to him being sold if he hadn't been assured that a replacement had been lined up? Well he agreed to sell Andy Cole without having a replacement lined up and even used that as an example in the press conference about getting the right player, that's without mentioning that Jonas is a far better player who's playing wide right now. Ferdinand was already lined up to replace Cole but QPR then backed out as it looked like they might get relegated that season. No he wasn't. I wouldn't say it if he wasn't. There was a video on youtube with Keegan being interviewed by Gabby Logan for Inside Sport at his soccer circus where he talks about selling Cole and the fans coming up to the steps to talk to him, he goes on about the fans on the steps talking amongst themselves and someone said "Give him a chance man, he wouldn't sell him without someone else lined up" when Terry Mac leaned over and whispered in his ear "Oh yes he would!" It seems to have been taken down but Happy Face has commented about the video before, it was the one where Keegan said he wouldn't come in as a DOF and that nothing would get him back into management. I've saw that video before, although I don't remember that. I was under the impression at the time it was 'common knowledge' as they say that this was the case that QPR then pulled out of the deal. That was the version I heard until I watched the video of Keegan saying what really happened. http://news.bbc.co.uk/player/sol/newsid_70...400/7042422.stm 6:20 -
Ashley can stay after the summer. Kinnear can't.

Hancock Bill Hicks would have a field day with this I think. Columbia Pictures part of the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment, a subsidiary of the Japanese conglomerate Sony make a film about how a man in advertising has a heart (preposterous already, I know). All he wants is to make the world a better place by getting his heart logo on as many branded products as possible to build his kid a brighter future, because effective brand placement really can save the world. In the end he pulls off the greatest coup advertising has ever seen, he gets his logo placed on the moon so everyone on the planet can see his brand every night. There's some stuff about super heroes in there too, but that's all secondary to the close ups of BMW, Cadillac, Capitol Records, Chevrolet, Christian Dior, Coca-Cola, Dasani, Datascope, Dodge, Dunkin' Donuts, Everest, FedEx, Fitovers, Ford, Greenpeace, Headline News, Jiffy Pop, Kenworth, Korean Air, Macalester College, McDonald's, Mercedes, Motorola, Nike, Polar Air Cargo, Ray-Ban, Sony, Sony VAIO, Spalding, Sprite, State Farm, Swatch, Wells Fargo, Wish-Bone, YouTube and Zagnut. It made me want to vomit prodigiously. -

Finally puts it to bed that he hasnt been offered a contract though. What a joke that we can pay £17mil for a player and then not protect that investment. i certainly wont hold it against him if he leaves To be fair we already knew that he hasn't been offered a contract. Wasn't there a press release on the official site just before the transfer window shut that said he'd been offered one? I mean, there's lying....and then there's mong challengingly retarded. I don't remember any statement. Owen said last week that there were talks with Keegan and a member of the board but since they've both left then no one has spoken to him about it. It's a ridiculous situation. NEWCASTLE: Newcastle has offered Michael Owen a three-year contract extension with a salary increase to keep him at the Premier League club. The 28-year-old England striker is in the final season of his contract at St. James’ Park and could leave on a free transfer when it expires. Owen has spent much of his three years since joining from Real Madrid on the sidelines because of injury. “Michael Owen has been offered an extended and improved three-year contract,” Newcastle said on Sunday. “The proposed terms of the new deal include an increased salary for Michael.” — AP http://www.hindu.com/2008/09/01/stories/2008090154662000.htm -

Well Keegan only managed 3 in his first ten, but we still gave him a chance eh? Just checking that you're taking the piss? Not at all. Kinnear's got 12 points from 10 games and his name is mud. Keegan got 9 points from 10 games and we were alkl happy to be patient. I'm not comparing Keegan and Kinnear or suggesting Kinnears better, but it's shit the way the daggers are out for him already. Whilst I couldn't be arsed listing the teams we played I'm fairly sure that Keegan had a much harder run of games. Also, Kinnear has at times made some baffling decisions, regularly made a fool of himself in the media and seems intent to spend more time in the stands than on the bench. And it was fairly obvious that Keegan was going to get more time to prove himself because of what he has done before, he had the fans' trust since day 1. Kinnear is starting from scratch and has to build that trust and thus far he hasn't done a whole lot to earn that trust and respect. He probably did have some tougher games, but he threw points away in the last minutes at home against Blackburn and Boro. -

2bias. You're my kinda guy. Ridiculous the stick JFK's been getting basically off the last game when we threw it away. Forget coming from behind against Everton or Wigan or pushing on to beat Villa, you're only as good as your last half time team talk. -

Me too. I was enjoying it as much as you seemed to, until they stopped telling the story for a half hour battle scene. Really made the back end drag infuriatingly. Nice appearance by Samuel Jackson, love the eye patch.
