  1. Done a write up about nearly becoming a mackem that will outrage Stevie... http://www.themag.co.uk/2016/05/im-not-like-newcastle-united-sunderland/
  2. Goals scored went from 1 per game to 1.6 (+0.6) Goals conceded went from 1.9 to 1.2 (-0.7)
  3. 19 listens since late Feb. Think this is going to be my top track of the year.
  4. You've only measured them against one of the criteria. Others apply to them. We're talking about why we won't sign the likes of Defoe, Austin or Berahino. Players who only match one of the criteria, max.
  5. In that he restricted them to buying players under 25 years old players under £15m players who weren't getting a game at their existing club players nearing the end of their contract players available for buttons loanees Other than that, carte blanche Other than being under 25, not getting a game at his existing club, nearing the end of his contract. Actiually, hang on, he is exactly the sort of Ashley signing the club has been set up to bring in for years. Berahino? The player we walked away from because they wanted £20m? More evidence of Ashley's patented bargain hunting method IYAM. That said, i don't believe we had any intention of signing him and it was the same "couldn't get him over the line" shite we see every window. Where was the £15m to £20m going to come from if WBA had dropped the asking price? Ashley has since said the bank account was emptied bringing in what we did (Doumbia )
  6. I agree, see no reason we will cut Mitrovic, Cisse or Armstrong. That's not something that fills me with optimism as it does you though. You're clinging onto one £10m striker signed 5 years ago as the signal that Ashley now gets what investment is needed to build a squad and won't hold back. He doesn't get it. Didn't in January and won't next year. For Ba and Remy previously, see Doumbia this year. I was wrong about Benitez coming in though, so I'll apologise to you if Ashley ever matches what the likes of Villa and Everton have spent on strikers recently.
  7. We will never ever ever bring in a Defoe while your man Ashley has a Sports Direct sign up at SJP though. So I'm not sure what point you're making about Ashley's newfound capacity for improvement.
  8. Howay, you don't buy a new giant mug every 6 months. You buy them when they're cheap. That's why we have 14 midfielders and 2 (sub-par) strikers. Strikers will be going cheap soon. Just need to wait until football is less reliant on scoring goals.
  9. To June 2013 the club was making an operating loss. It had to subsidise that loss on player trading. I consider the sales of Nzogbia, Given, Bassong, Duff, Martins and Beye to be cuts. I don't even include Milner in there as we went and spent that income (and wages) on Coloccini (and Xisco ) Since then we have spent what we could afford, as CT says. Not sure I'd call any sales since then "cuts" because the wages have never gone over 70% to need cutting. On the other hand, whatever Ashley promises, he has taken £11m out of the club to repay his loan rather than push on from a 5th place finish, and he's had another £18m earmarked for repayment since then as well. There's no reason to suppose he'll treat Rafa any better than the previous managers he fucked over with promises without delivery (I include McClaren in that too).
  10. I, Daniel Blake https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLEPQ9FYU0U Love it when he stands up and has a pop.
  11. Got new Badabadnotgood, Black Mountain, Aesop Rock, Chance The Rapper and Car Seat Headrest to try. Radiohead isn't growing on me, despite liking the single.
  12. Argument isn't wether anyone succeeded or not, it was whether carr was wrong to recommend them. If Carr didn't recommend Ben Arfa at £5.5m then he really would deserve the criticism he's getting.
  13. Talk of HBA going to Barca but he's only 1/10th better than Gouffran?
  14. By that blanket rationale no good player ever got relegated. They've all undeniably put in performances that justified their fee. Performances that would catch the eye of any scout observing.
  15. I think Carr is harshly judged like. Many of our signings worst attributes have been attributable to their attitude as the club around them lurched from one shambles to another. They've largely shown an ability to be reasonably good players for us, without doing it consistently. Whatever their failings, these have all contributed enough to satisfy their cost IYAM. Cheick Tiote Hatem Ben Arfa Yohan Cabaye Rob Elliot Davide Santon Papiss Demba Cissé Vurnon Anita Mathieu Debuchy Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa Massadio Haidara Moussa Sissoko Ayoze Perez Daryl Janmaat Karl Darlow Jamaal Lascelles Aleksandr Mitrovic Chancel Mbemba Andros Townsend The list of those that haven't is smaller, but we could still recoup the fees of several... Gabriel Obertan Gael Bigirimana Yoan Gouffran Remy Cabella Emmanuel Riviere Siem De Jong Jonjo Shelvy Ivan Toney Florian Thauvin Henri Saivet Georginio Wijnaldum
  16. "When they don't score they hardly ever win" He's hardly Danny Baker when it comes to filling dead air with something.
  17. No. There's not a single game you can't get a ticket for without a season ticket. It costs no more buying singles and you have the ability to withdraw your funding of Ashley's fuck ups if and when he makes them.
  18. Was not Was were Were not Were when David Was -was Weiss - and and Don Was went their separate ways. I think the grammar debate has better legs than this. I apologise
  19. That's what I mean about willing participants. Underage but could get into a club and aware of what a groupie is and wants. Saville, Harris and that could prey in tv studios, hospitals and that where kids much younger without any notion that they were in any danger were molested. Both wrong to take advantage of, but the latter is likely to be far more damaged by the experience.
  20. Aye. Like with Bowie (and unlike Johnson) I'm not aware of any teens that ever put in any complaints about Zep or reported anything but going in search of (and having) a blast with them. But still, dodgy as fuck like. Like wearing a school uniform in your 60s.
  21. I'd rather she didn't come tbh. Last comedy gig she went to was the chatty man himself, Alan Carr.
  22. Anyone? Have the CIA finally caught up with me?
