I did, for a year after I graduated with first class honours in English Literature (which is, admittedly not the most practical of degrees, yet has always been a steady degree demonstrative of particular writing and argumentative skills which has helped for footing in a vast range of careers), repeatedly begging for any jobs that were on the system, the majority of which were for jobs that I was told upon applying that I was either not qualified (or in some instances, over qualified) for, or inexperienced. For a year I was rejected from jobs such as KP work to Office work. Eventually got a job cleaning toilets in an office, and then got one of my current jobs in bar work, and returned to do an MA last October. The entire time I was on the dole, not only was there clearly a lack of opportunities in all areas of employment, but there was also a total lack of understanding on the jobcentre's part. They viewed the people who came in as statistics, rather than people who were desperately looking for any work to pay for their home. I generally have no respect for those people, they are inconsiderate, more bothered about ways to chuck you off the dole, rather than helping you find work. And their motive to do the latter is quota's and bonuses anyway. Of course there are people who abuse the benefit system, but there are also people who want to work, yet cannot get work. In a way you are right, but I know so many people who lack the chip on their shoulder you charge them with who have graduated into a total wasteland of employment, desperately trying to find any work including scrubbing shit off bogs. It's not as simple as 'there are jobs available people just have to look.' People are looking, indeed, so many people are looking and applying, yet only one can get the job at the end of it.

Is Bale going to go though? I thought he had signed a new contract recently? (Or am i totally fabricating that?) If I was a spurs fan, Id be seriously worried. They dont seem to be linked with anyone. AVB is too stubborn a coach imo, seems really obsessed with the starting from scratch on a tabula rasa of a squad, and completely reluctant to use the utilities at hand. It cost him the job at chelski, and I can hardly imagine it endearing him to the spurs supporters. Who have they lost this summer? Modric Dawson VDV anyone else? Also, when Sigurdsson signed, was it while they were managerless?

A little bit more of Taylor's thoughts from SSN: Newcastle defender Steven Taylor believes getting relegated in 2009 was the best thing that could have happened to the club. Taylor was part of a squad that included the likes of Michael Owen,Nicky Butt, Mark Viduka and Shay Given but plummeted out of the Premier League after a miserable run of results. The Magpies trimmed the squad and won promotion back to the top flight at the first opportunity - beginning an upturn in fortunes that propelled the club to fifth in the Premier League last season. "We've got players who actually want to be here and do well for the club. It's not about the pay packet." Steven TaylorQuotes of the week As Taylor prepares for Newcastle's return to European football as they travel to Greek side Atromitos in the Europa League on Thursday, the 26-year-old looks back on the club's remarkable journey "The best thing for Newcastle was getting relegated," Taylor toldThe Times. "For me, that knocked everyone down to size; club, players, fans, even the media in a way because the expectations seeped away. Drama "When I think about five years ago, the club felt like Big Brother. There was always something happening, always drama. "But those days are gone and that's important. That's why we've been able to move on as a team and as a club. "We've got players who actually want to be here and do well for the club. It's not about the pay packet. "Sometimes in the past, the dressing room looked like a group of islands - the foreigners stuck together, the young lads, the old heads. "That can't happen now. We're such a small squad that everybody has got to mix. "People would finish training and go straight home. I wouldn't see them until the next day and you wouldn't get much conversation out of them. "Sometimes you'd hardly speak to the players you were lining up with on a Saturday. Maybe that's one of the reasons why we're succeeding now. "This feels like an exciting time. "But after everything this club has been through, it feels like we can deal with anything. We want to make the most of it.""We raised the bar by finishing fifth last season and we want to improve - that's the pressure we've got. Rested While Taylor is determined to succeed in Europe this season, the squad has been forced to travel to Greece without the likes ofFabricio Coloccini,Cheick Tiote and Demba Ba - all rested for Saturday's game at Chelsea. But Taylor insists Newcastle are not taking Atromitos lightly after his last experience of European football when the Toon were eliminated despite beating AZ Alkmaar 4-2 in the first leg. He added: "We left St James' Park after the first game with everyone thinking, 'This might be Newcastle's year'. "We took it for granted that the game was dead and buried - we all believed we'd qualified. That was our biggest mistake. "And then we went to Alkmaar, took our foot off the gas, and everything went wrong." If Newcastle can overcome Atromitos over two legs they will go into the draw for the group stages of the Europa League. http://www1.skysport...ation-helped-us

Fellani is a dirty player. But he has good ball control and can put himself about which works for Everton's team. Was really surprised when i found out he was only 24, feels like he has been around for ages.

I don't know. But what does irk me is that I have to take tablets for a neurological disorder that I will have for the rest of my life each day, and I subsequently have to take 2 other forms of medication to deal with side effects. When I have asked if there is a possible alternative to the medication to the neurological disorder that I have which may not require other medication for its side effects, I am generally told that yes, there is, though it is a risk because the neurological disorder is taken care of by the medication, even though there are side effects. If i were to change medication that it might jeopardise the fact that the disorder is under control. I guess what is required is a bit of acceptance that medical treatment is limited, and for many illnesses and diseases we are still far away from having complete knowledge over causes and cures.

Aye, I was wary of that scouse charge like! I agree though, 2 game ban, take it on the chin as he appears to be doing, move on. I thought the affair thing was at Southampton? I just get the impression that a lot of people in the media dislike him for one reason or another. Here is a wiki list of Pardew's 'controversies': So far in his career, Pardew has been involved in several controversial issues and events. In 2003, the BBC described him as being a "dangerous and distant animal" in the media, referring to his public relations abilities, which has led him to making several rash comments.[40] When at West Ham, the club employed a media advisor for Pardew to help him win over sceptical fans.[1] The following is a list of controversies Pardew has been involved in: In September 2003, Pardew resigned from Reading after being refused permission to become manager at West Ham. Reading's chairman John Madejski attempted to create an injunction in the High Court to prevent him from moving to West Ham. Eventually Reading's legal action was dropped, and Pardew joined West Ham after a period of gardening leave.[6] In December 2005, Pardew stated a public interest in Crystal Palace striker Andy Johnson, without informing Palace manager Iain Dowie.[41] In March 2006, Pardew had a dispute with Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger, after he criticised Arsenal for failing to field an English player in their UEFA Champions League win against Real Madrid.[42] Wenger suggested that Pardew was being xenophobic,[43] a claim Pardew denied, citing his marriage to a Swedish wife.[44] In November 2006, Pardew had another dispute with Wenger after celebrating West Ham's win over Arsenal.[45] Wenger claimed he was provoked into pushing Pardew after Pardew's celebrations at West Ham's late win.[46] Wenger was later fined by the Football Association,[47] whilst Pardew was cleared of the charges in January 2007.[48] In February 2007, shortly before Pardew's new club Charlton faced West Ham, The Sun published a report documenting a video of one of Pardew's media training sessions he took whilst manager at West Ham. In the video, Pardew jokingly made several disparaging comments about West Ham's fans.[49] In October 2007, Pardew intervened on the pitch in a match against Hull City to try to break up a confrontation between Charlton and Hull players after Lloyd Sam and Ian Ashbeewere sent-off. Pardew denied he made the situation worse by intervening.[50] In March 2009, on Match of the Day 2 Pardew stated that Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien "absolutely rapes" Man City player Ched Evans during a midfield tussle for the ball, in the sense that he bested him physically.[51] The BBC said there will be no on-air apology, despite 35 viewer complaints, insisting it had been misheard as "rakes".[52]
