  1. That's the brother right? Yeah, his life is essentially ruined like. Poor bloke... In one fell swoop, lose 3/4s of your immediate family and have half the western world baying for your blood
  2. I know. One interview asked the questions "And how did you all feel? Were you all afraid? Crying for your parents?". I mean, howay? Aye, it makes me feel ill that people can be that fucking idiotic.
  3. Completely agree. How can gun law still be this lax in the 21st century in a supposed civilised country. Just, an absolute tragedy. Edit: by lax i mean that guns are available at all. When civilians are able to have access to guns, other civilians are in danger, no matter how extensive the psychological background check/review may be on the potential licensee.
  4. Love that video like. Great musician. RIP. Anyone after a sitar btw? Mint condition cost 300 quid to buy new. Can put up pics if anyone interested. Price negotiable.
  5. Aye I saw that They did one last week with this lad who met Gareth Bale. Enjoy stories like that but I though on the spurs one that Sky's heartstring-tugging lone piano notes in the back ground whilst talking about the boy's disease/condition (can't remember what he suffered from) were a bit sensationalist.

    Sir Patrick Moore

Yeah he held extreme right wing views. Though, I've found if quite disturbing the amount of Patrick Moore quotations on facebook that demonstrates some of his right wing views. There is no defence for racism, homophobia, sexism, or bigotry in any format. But where were these quotes yesterday? I find it quite funny how have seemed to try and point score with the wackiest Patrick Moore quote they can find, as a means to solidify their own stance against bigotry... Does that mean his position on fox hunting cancels out his position on immigration? It's not a sense of 'respecting the dead', just a feeling of unease that that is the appropriate alternative to mourning nowadays for someone whose opinions are morally inaccurate. Nee need to be righteous. Sorry just had to get that off my chest as these FB statuses have been driving me mental today!
  7. sweet how much you have on it?

    The Guitar Thread

Anyone know anywhere reliable in town which do pedal repairs?
  10. Came on to post link to those pictures which has just come up on my FB feed. Fascinating stuff, no logic behind it but it makes me feel proud for some reason.
  11. It's a bit hit and miss, but I'd give it a listen if i were you. Have you ever seen Battles live? Saw them at Gateshead town hall last year. Not the best sound but a great gig nonetheless.
  12. What are your thoughts on Gloss Drop? And Deerhoof Vs. Evil?
  13. In no order: Radiohead - In Rainbows Wild Beasts - Two Dancers Deerhunter - Microcastle The Strokes - Is this it? Arcade Fire - Funeral Microphones - Window Battles - Mirrored Deerhoof - Offend Maggie The Fall - Imperial Wax Solvent Grinderman - Grinderman
  14. No, I've never seen her name appear anywhere either. My point was regarding the extent to which there was national covering of it (for example the guardian had a page devoted to it and followed it up the successive day with blatant polemic from other papers). Perhaps witch hunting for people to blame for it is a bit futile though, yes.
  15. Last thing that made me cringe was the thought of me saying 'cheers lads' to a group of 2 men and 2 women when they returned their empty drinks to the bar last night...
  16. Aye. As well as all the British papers (tabloid and broadsheet) who ridiculed her so extensively for it.
  17. aye just put that on the other thread. Fucking awful.
  18. Receptionist who put the call through has apparently committed suicide http://news.sky.com/story/1022287/royal-hoax-call-receptionist-commits-suicide
  19. Bread and butter performance by Bunn.
  20. Does it exist anymore? I thought it went U PG 12A 15 18?
  21. I might be wrong (as I have no idea what goes on between players and in the dressing room), but the team spirit that came from Hughton era seemed to develop from a trench mentality that was rightly taken against the constant southern press heckling we received at the end of, and post, the relegation season. It was in the stands as well, where there was a togetherness about the fans. When we came back up, from the outside it looked like the players (particularly the ones who had been a part from the relegation season) had something to prove to those journalists, to the people who had given them jip for over a year. I think that this continued when Pardew took over and into last season where the doubters were continually saying 'their luck won't last'. It seemed to spur the players on, I know it did me as a fan. I wanted them to give the southern journalists a massive 'fuck right off' by just quietly going about our business and upsetting the expected trend near the top of the table. It was as if this season began with those journalists holding their tongues this time round, and giving us due credit for last year. It would be lazy to say that because of this, the team have no motive and togetherness as a team who are against the odds, but it does appear to have upped the expectations (mind, not to the extent that MOTD and Sky etc. charge toon fans with the 'infamous level of expectancy "up there"') of some fans, and consequently divided some of the fans. Like I said, I have no idea what the dressing room may be like - to what extent they take notice of press criticism - but certainly I think the spirit of the fans as one unit has lessened due to the peak of last season followed by the current trough in this campaign.
