You reckoned it was great last time! Leeds is a funny City though. We did try it again and decided we would go back to Sheffield. Not keen on people down south talking in circles rather than just saying what they mean. "Maybe we could try it this way....." = "I dont want to do the other way" Why dont they just say it? Met good and bad everywhere I have travelled or lived. Think some places are a bit friendlier than others. Barnsley is a great! Lively and can be rough but still a great night out. If I had to pick then I would probs say Israel. Again some good and some bad but by fuck do they feel persecuted. Shouldnt have nicked some fuckers land off them then should they?

Well i mainly learning drums because i like playing them, but im going to learn them properly , like im learning bass properly, not just playing it as a guitar by twatting single notes with a thick pick. I find doing all three helps me understand how to interact from all corners and helps me express my guitar playing better because i know how to make it sound good next to the bass or drums. Ive only had one lesson and that was from Jimi Savage (JawD saw him i think) and he was class. He'l probably teach any style well. If anyone sends drummer jokes my way il pick up guitar or bass and show em i can at least play something Cheers for that. Think I've decided to go to Jimi's. He is very well regarded and I am sure I have read some old Guitar Techniques mags with him in it. Looking forward to it, wont be for a few months but always like to learn new styles. Bass is bloody hard to play properly. I've got a Fender Jazz and plonk about on it. Prefer using my fingers rather than a pic. Used to always play guitar fingerstyle so didnt think it would be too tricky but the rules are different! Thought I had cracked it and recorded some stuff but my (talented) bass playing mate reckons I should stick to guitar! Youre right though it does help you understand the rest of the band. Still nothing better than playing live though. I'll miss that when I leave down here to live back up there. Got a couple of bands who have asked me but not sure just yet. Think I want to have a few months of lessons first just to try to get some new ideas. Let me know when youre recording again.

Well your doing better than me. I sit behind the drums for about 30 seconds, reaslise the guitar is easier then fuck off back to it! Get used to drummer jokes if you do take it up properly though. J Mascis was bloody good drummer and he reckons it helped him get more percussive on the guitar. Might be interesting to see if your playing style changes. I dont tend to use altered tunings a lot. Quite like DADGAD cos its like learning to play the guitar again. Got to use your ears rather than relying on scales. Easier to break the rules with it. Got first gig with the guitar tomorrow. Good luck with the drumming! Nb: I want a rockablilly guitar teacher in the North East. Know any? Not really into that sort of music particularly but its interesting putting it other genres. Very hard to play it properly - bit like country really. Again, not my cup of tea but figure I should get some more lessons and do something a bit different.

Thank you. Just picked it up from him. Its got a highish action that lets me play slide and still pick. The fella who had it used it that way in his blues band. Just done a nice bit of Stone Roses - Love Spreads in DADGAD on it. Very nice. Weird thing is that it is obviously a genuine guitar but apart from one bump on the front it is absolutely spotless. Clean as a whistle. No fret wear etc. Dont think it got played a lot to be fair. Well pleased with it. You learned to drum yet? I have tried for years when I have got bored sitting waiting for things to happen in rehearsal rooms but I am still shit at it!

A Fender 1988 Telecaster My Newcastle supporting uncle left me some money when he died. A Black and White Guitar seemed appropriate to remember him with Tele

Not keen on milk. Freshly squeezed fruit of any description. Always get a Lucozade Sport Orange in the shop so I must like it but never thought about it. Pineapple and/or Coconut is very nice. In hot countries its either coke or sprite. During the day I just drink lots of water. Nowt better tbh

The thing is though Henry looked much better than Martins before he went to Juventus. He just struggled playing in a rigid wide-left position in a team with a manager who didn't even want him (i.e. Ancelotti after Lippi had left). The comparison isn't that valid imo. I think Martens is ok. Rough, but ok. I don't accept the stuff about Sam having a magic wand but i do think he can iron out a few basic flaws in Martens game. He will always be erratic but he can be a matchwinner and on that basis I would like him to stay. Henry was exceptional at Monaco tbh. He almost ruined Steve Watsons career in the game over there. He hadnt played up front for a while when Wenger bought him - he played on the left at Monaco too. However, his touch was always good. It depends if we have a choice and if there are people willing to come here who can score goals consistently. if there are then its fine by me. With the Michael Owen situation I wouldnt get rid of anyone tbh

Blitzkrieg Bop was good. PIL - Rise - agree with that one. Local hero is fine. No dancy stuff though. Its all far too gay for a football match. Prefer to have some decent ska - bit of Little Bitch

Duff's injuries will dictate whether he gets back to his old form. The odd thing is that he has played very well for the Republic in his time with us. N'Zogbia is untried really. He has some ability, but whether he has the temperament is another matter. He is a kid with a few tricks and decent pace. Hell of a lot to learn though imo. Milner is a decent squad player. No better, no worse. Like Baggio says, we need better if we are going to push for top 5 with any conviction.

Jesus, they just cut that posh kids legs with piranha teeth til blood was running own his legs then covered it in salt and chilli

Really hope we havent got Milner and Zog in the first team at the start of the season. Looks particularly slow in midfield. Zog will need have got his head right and Milner will have needed some fucker elses legs. If we can get a top quality, pacy right back then I would be happier with Solano on the right. Dyer would be useful too given the fact that we have zero movement anywhere in that side. Zog can provide it if he isnt in the huff.

Happy Birthday. You share yours with Paulo Maldini! (Yesterday me and George Michael!!!) Hope its a good one

He could go around getting birthday greetings all the time with a scam like this. Thanks!!I'm trying to keep the birthdays to a minimum at my age

My Happy Birthday? Last one I have before I'm 40. Mind you school shut today cos its flooded and probs off tomorrow so not all bad!

I was hugely optimistic when we signed Beasant, Thorn, Robertson and - O'Neil iirc. The season following was a disaster. It was Hendrie rather than O Neill. O Neill was already there. We sold Gazza then bought that lot. Got relegated.
-
Apathetic about this one. He can do some useful things occasionally but usually just runs down a blind alley then boots the ball out of play. Not unlike a fair few others in our side.

I know kids, especially girls can look older than their years, but a ten yearold looking 16 ??? Entirely possible tbh. Some of them do look very old. I teach 16 year olds who could easily pass for 10 years older and some younguns who look like the older kids. Its just the way it is. Not excusing or condoning any of this by the way.

Greatest Player You've Ever Seen In An England Shirt?
gram replied to Tooj's topic in Newcastle Forum
Best player technically? Could add Waddle and Hoddle to that. Waddle played very well in Italia 90 as well. Hoddle never did much for England. Great video. Most gutted I have been was the day we sold Gazza. If only we had Freddie Shepherd then I am a year younger than Gazza so I was at an age when I could just about appreciate what I was seeing. Some of his performances at the reserves were incredible. I was at the match when he took over the mic at the reserves and went on an extended piss take about John Baileys medals etc. Not enough superlatives to describe him. He got the club out of the shit in 1996/97 when he came back from injury. We relied on him the next season too much. Greatest player I saw in a black and white shirt or an England one.
