  1. Still desperately short of match fitness. I was listening to the Russia match on the radio, heard his name mentioned about twice I think. Mind you, you could barely hear anything down the crackly phone line they appeared to be using...
  2. Finally got round to downloading "In Rainbows". Canny enough so far.
  3. I was indifferent towards '94 until my parents foolishly went on holiday, leaving me to adopt the unhealthy sleep patterns that have stalked me ever since - and, specifically, to be witness to this: Pure class. I've always been a sucker for the underdog - I genuinely wasn't sure who I wanted to win out of Cameroon and England in 1990, having fallen in love with the former right from the moment they started drop-kicking the Argies in the opening match - so having the Saudis around was excellent. And then Sweden kicked into gear and my mother's genes took over. Who needs the home nations anyway?
  4. And NP Cricket. Unless that's just me?
  5. Pretending to be a teenage lass in a chatroom in order to get guys.

Workload permitting, I might just take you up on that! Although I suspect the lunch options there will just about stretch to a Boots Meal Deal or something lovingly microwaved by the Eastern Europeans behind the bar at one of the Wetherspoons-a-like drinking establishments. Mind you, after three weeks in Foreign you might be gagging for some pub grub... We can just go to the pub then Clearly the best way to ensure high-quality translations for the rest of the afternoon. I approve!

That's the trouble when it comes to London, by the time you've schlepped all the way out to Heathrow, Gatwick or Stansted and waited around after checking in in good time, you might as well have taken the train in the first place... Good way to wind up carbon footprint-obsessed friends though. I'm flying out from Gatwick next week and mulled over various options of getting there. It'll now take me about an hour on the plane from Newcastle. And my carbon footprints are going to be all over Africa in the next month Aye, if you're flying on from there and you can get a decent enough price with Jet2, it's always worth going for that and avoiding the hassle of getting from Kings Cross over to Gatwick. Although I'd have come to the station and waved as your train zoomed past.

Well after all that, I've shifted my dates and got a halfway decent train fare after all. Sorry for the panic. Will be in town for the Derby match too. Early start for drinkies mind.
  11. San Marino just scored the second goal of their entire campaign to pull it back to 1-2 against Wales. Cue a male voice choir rendition of "What the fuck is going on?" from the stands.
  12. Pity his ruffles haven't been ruffled yet.
  13. God, talk about missing the point. London, Manchester and Colchester in the same colour set?
  14. G'wan Scotland. Georgia's keeper is "a 17-year-old debutant who has never played for his club". What price a Tomaszewski performance?
  15. Alan Green: "There's still a chance for England to get an equaliser. Here's Stewart Downing." Talk about kicking a country when it's down...
  16. It's the Star Wars theme! Performed on trumpet! By a beauty pageant contestant! Except it's out of tune. And out of time. And there's "dancing". What could possibly go wrong?

Both of those posts really do help. In very different ways.
  18. Do we reckon they have a general problem with skinheads then?

Two solutions: 1. Buy a car 2. Do the sensible thing and give up London for the experimental failure that it is. The latter may well happen as soon as my better half graduates from uni here. The former, well, that depends where we end up afterwards and whether it has any kind of public transport.
  20. granted there are some rough estates in peckham but it's nowhere near as bad as people make out. hpeckham rye is actually really nice. i'd much rather live in peckham than somewhere like croydon or boro Parmos > darkies
  21. They get to play 'diddy' teams and still move up places, how fair is that? the methododly is published - all you have to do is to choose who you want to play - you still have to win mind - an England home defeat at Wembley by Andorra wouldn't help much............ It'd help the mighty Andorra plenty.
  22. Only moved to the NE when he was 9? I'm sure my primary school used to claim him as one of theirs. Mind you, 28 days of school would be good going compared with the attendance records of some of the local inbreds' sprogs.
  23. If he had a get-out clause in his contract in the first place (as seems to be admitted in the article) and he hasn't signed a new contract since (as seems to be the case in the absence of any evidence to the contrary), how is it that he doesn't have a get-out clause in his contract now? Me no understandee.
