That's bollocks man. People still won't go if they're that way inclined. If you want to lose weight you don't need to join a gym. You just modify your diet, go for a run, do some sit-ups, ride your bike, walk to work, etc. Loads of people sign uptp gyms in January then go about 3 times (if that). Hoying money at the problem in the way you suggest won't do anything. Exactly. I'd never go to the gym if it weren't for the Italian exchange students playing football on the field in front of the windows where the treadmills are. Actually, can we subsidise them?

Have you ever considered a tattoo? Some in-joke I've missed? More of an out-joke, though naturally I can't find the link now. There was some daft lad in the press a few years ago, proudly boasting of having spent the best part of a grand on a terribly tasteful Toon tattoo even though he "couldn't afford a season ticket".

I was watching that on the telly and wasn't sure it actually happened. Citius, altius, fortius. Quite a lot fail like that, it's strange as you'd think they'd all go for a safe weight first. I wasn't talking about the weightlifting bit.

Just watching the end of the showjumping on the Beeb now. I realise it's a posh sport (and not really much of one at that), but it's hilarious hearing the BBC commentators pretending they're not willing the others to fail now that the British lass has racked up a clear round.
