  1. I agree with LeazesMag. Frame that phrase A momentous day for British politics.
  2. That'll likely be him, aye. Or at least he'd developed one when I last saw him at Christmas (appropriately enough). I think it's a very Lib Dem way of having a second mid-life crisis.
  3. You might think those two are particularly random for a christian political party....but the leader of the party is an ex-producer of stars such as Sinita and 5 Star. A homophobe who wrote "So Macho". It's precious.
  4. All else being equal, Labour should hold it comfortably enough. Although I suppose there's a rather ironic possibility that the Lib Dems taking votes from Labour could let the BNP in. I think the locals are clued up enough to know how best to vote tactically though. Even if they don't get an MP though, I reckon the BNP will have some pretty big local council scalps to boast about come May 7th.
  5. Respect, I think? I know it's a simplified map but I think Barking (the BNP target) would still be further out...
  6. The Clegg bubble will probably burst soon enough. The first debate was always going to be his strongest suit - the element of surprise/newness, plus floating voters are more likely to trust the Lib Dems on matters of domestic policy than the positions on Europe and the economy that he's going to have to outline at the next two debates. (Although he does still have their opposition to Iraq in the face of Labour/Tory enthusiasm to fall back on, I suppose.) On the other hand, it's unprecedented for the third party to be ahead/level in the polls this close to a general election, so if they can properly harness that mood swing and keep it buoyant through the other side of this coming weekend, say, then who knows. I think it's more down to Cameron and his team though. If they can get their act together, there's still a very decent chance the Tories will be the biggest party after the election. If not, then Lib-Lab looks inevitable - although I do wonder if Clegg really wants to tie his colours to the mast of "another five years of Brown" quite so readily, as it could ruin a lot of the goodwill the Lib Dems will have gained during the campaign, particularly by painting themselves as the alternative to Brown...
  7. While I wasn't quite as scathing as that myself, I did say I hoped he'd make me eat my words about him being an "underwhelming" champion. So far so good!
  8. The joke is so old that Craig probably already posted it twice. And castigated someone else for posting it as an old joke.
  9. Interesting to see Brown talking up the prospect of a "double-dip" recession under the Tories last night. It's going to happen either way, but this way he gets to make it their fault.
  10. http://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&source=...59b761b84e2996a I say 21,000 times "probably".
  11. Get a load of the Scots and Welsh moaning because the SNP and Plaid Cymru weren't involved last night. Aye, because that wouldn't have been irrelevant and confusing at all.
  12. The name of the new Icelandic state bank, shirley?
  13. Not quite the same magnitude really. You should be focusing on the fact that he's a fucking repulsive human being. The very idea of him being in the cabinet.
  14. As much as anything, Clegg seemed to visibly tire by the last half-hour or so. Not used to actually getting prolonged attention, I guess.

    Hangovers

Aye, still a little bitter about that myself. Although we had enough time at the station to grab some cans for the schlepp back into Paddington (even if the shopkeep blatantly plucked a price out of thin air, at least it was a vaguely reasonable one...)
  16. There's no point in having any parties other than the Conservatives and Labour then. Would you honestly trust a Lib Dem goverment to be able to fulfil their pledges? I absolutely would, but then I'm never going to get the chance to be proved wrong.

  18. How awful it is that people mindlessly conform to the premise that child abuse is morally wrong.
  19. Since this appears to be the game we're playing today
  20. They've sent a fat bird doing a hi-NRG disco stomper to this year's Eurovision, too. The horrors never cease. Well let's just hope this volcano scuppers the bastards beneath the waves then. She'd float to the surface and form her own island like bloody Surtsey.
