It's interesting how much better the rights and equality situation has become for various minorities over the last 20 years or so while we've been letting in all these dirty Islams. If their overriding aim is to establish Sharia law, they're doing a pretty shoddy job of it.

It's a small place. I doubt there's much that's selective about the breeding there.

Just got back from the office Christmas bash. Flights from London City to Frankfurt and back worked a treat (and a healthy dose of Kristallweizen helps the old nerves a ton). The lads who came from Berlin? Two hours delay on the way there last night, flight back this morning cancelled because of a bomb scare. They'll be getting the train next year - at least you can bring a bottle of wine or three. Mind it's a different matter when someone else is paying for it, obviously.

It's a fair question. I reckon I still would have gone, but I don't really know if the cost/benefit factor would be sufficient compared with what I'd have got from simply moving to Germany after high school and picking up the nuances of the language that way, even if that involved pulling pints for four years rather than studying the language in-depth. Probably all depends on my first employer really - they took me on without any translation experience because I had a strong modern languages degree, but would they have been willing to expand that to "speaks the language very well but has no post-high school qualifications in it"? I suspect not, but you never know.
