I think most people just aren't really that bothered either way, which is different to blindly believing everything they're fed. Life's too short. To anyone with half a brain, truth is important. I take what you are saying but I would say it's not most people, it's more like around half i.e. the unthinking, the unengaged and those who dont have access to information. Do you think if it became known that global food prices were being deliberately manipulated upwards by western global corporations that the millions of starving people in the developing world wouldn't get bothered because 'life is too short'? What a ridiculous thing to say. I'm not saying they'd not be bothered at all, but they'd have more immediate and pressing concerns, like surviving to see the next day and all that. This is where that high horse Gejon describes comes into things - of course the truth is important, but truth and reality don't always mean the same thing. Then again, the fact that I feel like a lot of conspiracy nuts pursue the truth they're after to such an extent that it obstructs them from engaging with life in a normal way is pretty high-horsed of myself, so I'm probably as bad as anyone else.
