I know it's probably intolerant as owt but I don't think I could be with anyone whose taste in food was limited to turkey twizzlers and oven chips. It's not like I cook up snails with fennel foam or raw puffer fish for dinner every night, but simply not enjoying (or being willing to at least try) a variety of food is downright baffling to me.

I've been to the cafe where he and his fellow velvet-revolutionaries did their plotting. I had potato soup.

Fuck the austerity cuts and European financial meltdown, why aren't there riots about this?

Aye, same here, but you also get smaller ones for "on the go", just in case you can't make it to your next meal without some hot pie action. Hence CT's pocket-sized pie emporium.

The accepted convention in the United Kingdom is for pies and similar pastry-based products to be served in the following receptable in order to aid efficient consumption:

Smashing. Spontaneous pub mini-crawl with a mate, locally too so no fannying about with trains. Vedett on tap, Duvel in the fridge. Made a sizeable dent in both.

Happy happy birthday! Here's some ginger birthday beefcake for you!

I'd forgotten just how dense Medina was like.

Aye. The par-boiling and shuffling around the pan that CT describes is essential too though. Lovely jubbly.

Aye I quite like Balotelli as well. Totti's a funny one like. When I used to watch a lot of Italian football he would occasionally have games where he was just itching to be sent off. Totti is like a spoiled little kid, I guess that's how you become when you've been worshipped by the majority of Rome's population most of your life. The Pope has to settle for second place in that city. What a cunterhead hum lol

Fucking hell. I'd actually started to forget the sheer horror

Used to devour Metallica albums when I was their target audience (13 years old) but it's fair to say they don't hold up to scrutiny now. "One" is basically their career condensed into one song so there's no need to bother beyond that. I've still got a lot of time for late-80s Maiden though, "Seventh Son" era. Camp as Christmas and some cracking melodeeez. What about Scooter? Should have won the German Eurovision final in 2004 but were totally robbed.

It's an internal debate that keeps on raging. I'll get back to you if I ever achieve closure.

Has the NME actually been relevant since at least the aforementioned mid-90s anyway?

At the peak of the "war", i.e. 1995, I was definitely in the Oasis camp - they were the better singles band and "The Great Escape" was a bloody awful album (though in hindsight I'll give a pass to "The Universal"). Blur and their individual members went on to do far more interesting things though.

Not up for Christmas, sadly, but I'll be around for the Man U game on January 4th if any of you good folks are out and about.
