  1. Finally ploughed through the Stieg Larsson Millennium trilogy over the last month or so. Pretty decent page-turners, as expected. I liked the first one the best, though that might be because it was more of a conventional, self-contained thriller. Second one felt like it was treading water a bit, whereas the final instalment was lovely and meaty, though granted not everyone will get their kicks out of extensive descriptions of the history and machinations of the Swedish secret service.
  2. They guaranteed the cheap seats - right up in the gods, but still - for both the opening and closing ceremonies would be £20.12 each, so that's what I applied for (and got, in the latter case). Would happily pay maybe £100 for the opening ceremony (I know, but I have a thing about them), but some of the prices being bandied about now are obviously just plain ridiculous.
  3. Why do people like you always assume there are only two available positions, "blindly accepting everything" and "fundamentally questioning everything"?
  4. So this is why you're investing in all those tubs and beer bottles...

I just used a wodge of (earned!) in-game currency to buy the Modern Country category.
  6. Canny. I got volleyball, hockey and a seat up in the gods for the closing ceremony. For all I'd love to have been at the opening ceremony too, him indoors is away from tomorrow so I shall break open a good bottle of grape juice and enjoy it from the sofa in all my flag-nerd glory.
  7. The torch hits beautiful Lewisham. Torch-bearer's limp wrist expertly captured by the photographer.
  8. OMG JINX (or words to that effect)
  9. Actually right now I've got F/K/S/TS all shoved randomly into one of these: Who needs ORDNING anyway.
  10. Some men can only dream of being able to fit down a well.

Does look really good mind. Made this again tonight - it's worth a repost for being simple yet bloody nice:
  12. No, it's a Paddy Power special, 4/1. Might get better elsewhere but I was too lazy to head to Oddschecker. Aye, and he's obviously a big occasion sprinter. I'd say the 100m is more of an achilles heel for him, hence the extra lay as a bit of insurance. And I'm a massive athletics fan so frankly if he proves me wrong and decimates the field in a ridiculous time then I won't mind losing the cash anyway. Well, much.
  13. Sneaky £25 on Yohan Blake to win both the 100m and 200m at the Olympics (plus a further £25 laying Bolt in the 100m).
  14. Two thumbs up for the Biscuit Factory after a smashing lunch there yesterday. Utterly gorgeous pork belly. (See, Fisty, don't say I never pay you any compliments. The food was canny too)
  15. Some of them are a bit
  16. And, primarily, #3 photograph it as if it's worth sharing. I might submit it to http://ratemypoo.com/
  17. Can't remember if this has been posted before elsewhere, but it's a heck of a tale: http://www.utsalumni.org/news/how-one-man-escaped-from-a-north-korean-prison-camp-3549/
  18. Someone in WH Smith isn't a fan.
