Aye, they're completely different things for me. Shower for everyday ablutions, bath if it's the weekend, my muscles are aching and I've got a decent podcast to listen to.

I tend to park as far away from the shop/other cars as possible, if only to minimise the risk of bumps and scratches from thick people who don't know how to park properly. Or drive properly at all. Definitely worth an extra minute's walk.

Not being tied to the single currency made our position stronger in that very specific context, for a start - unlike quota-imposing nations such as Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal, for whom things have worked out just terrifically. In terms of actual immigration, even the ever-exemplary Germans admit that the quotas and work permit stipulations they imposed in 2004 still led to them needing, approving and accepting just as many workers from those evil central European nations as other major member states without restrictions, e.g. us.

The perils of having a similarly nerdy and over-analytical better half: we're trying to book a few days in Alicante next month before going to Barcelona. Accommodation for the latter is already sorted (apartment with friends), but for the former our hotel search has now reached the point where we have spreadsheets detailing the pros, cons and prices of all the central hotels. All of which are basically bloody identical anyway.
