I find it hard to disagree with the reader comment about agents rather than fans being the real sticking point, for all there's no concrete evidence to back it up - yes, an out gay footballer would get stick from the stands, but fans will always find something to focus on if they think they can unsettle an opposition player. You won't make it as a professional footballer without a thick skin, whoever/whatever you are. And it's not as if Brighton do any worse for the constant away-fan contributions of "Does your boyfriend know you're here?" and similar. But tell an agent that their protégé is about to make his merchandise supposedly unwearable on the street or the playground....
