Is this when you're coming from Brighton, Jonny? If so, there are trains that chug through from Brighton to St. Pancras directly (via London Bridge), then it's a short walk from there to Euston. Takes a bit longer than the fast trains into Victoria though, and I assume you might already have a ticket specifically to Victoria, in which case that's a no-go. Otherwise, the number 73 bus from Victoria to Euston is your friend - obviously factor in more time though! Alternatively, if you do bite the bullet and get a cab, everyone else will be in the same boat so do ask in the queue if anyone else is going to Euston/Kings Cross and wants to share. Even Londoners have been known make eye contact and talk to each other in such situations.
