  1. Also good in a Brendan Foster commentary voice, à la Douglas Wakiihuri
  2. Just back from a long weekend on the coast of north-eastern Germany with very similar feelings. Good infrastructure, joined-up thinking, everything broadly works. Also drove to Poland on Saturday morning for parkrun and breakfast on the beach promenade, and (as I felt in Warsaw last year) the place has a quietly prosperous feel to it. I'm aware we were mostly in well-maintained beach resort towns which aren't representative of the two countries as a whole, but we're talking about places that were behind the Iron Curtain not that long ago, and now they're miles ahead of what we have here, frankly (as much as I do love a slightly tatty British seaside town). That said and if it's any consolation, the new Berlin airport already feels old and the German railways are a total shambles these days, so at least we have that in common.
  3. I remember one of the fanzines reprinted a French newspaper article from before the 1994/95 UEFA Cup draw where the headline was literally "Anyone but Newcastle". Nice to be spoken about in that way again.
  4. This is relevant to my interests
  5. How's the sizing, about what you'd expect?
  6. Don't worry, it's a Tory promise.
  7. Good call. There's one place that claims to have multiple screens for simultaneous matches so I'll have a look in, but I'm not counting on anything.
  8. Brave. The question is whether the only sports bar in Stralsund will be showing it liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive. Pray for Meenzer
  9. Aye fair enough. I'm still being deprogrammed from a decade-plus of good things not happening for us.
  10. You'd think those MLFs would know their oniens.
  11. I think if you replace "x.com" with "twitter.com" it should still work. Blame Elon, basically.
  12. And it all works because of denpressure.
  13. I'm going to completely ignore your genre criteria and just list some of the books I've read this year that I liked, to wit: Gabrielle Zevin - Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow John Darnielle - Devil House Susanna Clarke - Piranesi Bryan Washington - Memorial
  14. Have Sky show one of those "distance covered" stats late in the second half and find out he's on 12km despite not being subbed on
