Hey Zath

Finland are sending Darude to Eurovision. In 2019. Which is nice, because there's never a bad time to revisit this:

At least we're not wrecking our international credibility and throwing away our soft power in the process.

I think we're all beginning to lose sight of the real issue here, which is: what are we going to call ourselves? I think it comes down to a choice between the ‘League Against Cockney Arseholes’ or, my own personal preference, which is the ‘Committee for the Hasty Removal of Ignorant Southern Tosspots Masquerading As Skilled Trustees of Regional Established Enterprises’. One drawback with that - the abbreviation is ‘CHRISTMAS TREE’.

Meanwhile, the actual contribution of people like them to humanity and society:

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER

Enjoyed this read. Hipsters ruin everything. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/24/sports/spakenburg-derby-netherlands.html -
Given my mam's anxiety is off the scale because of the prospect of shortages in her Parkinson's meds, I suppose I should be grateful they at least have some kind of plan in mind for once. Delighted we've had to reach this stage in proceedings, obviously.

I love how the whole Brexit process is such a monumental self-own that we've even managed to choose a leaving date that falls right in the middle of when we hardly produce any food.

I don't know about you all, but I think this could be the week when Mike Ashley can rightly say he is getting the hang of this football lark.

"History is dense, present, complicated and inescapable on the mainland in a way that it is not in Britain." https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/jan/27/britons-do-not-grasp-the-eu-essential-motivation-a-quest-for-the-quiet-life Bit wordy (and if I'm saying that... ) but makes some good points.

Aren't you lot more about the changing rooms than the classrooms? -
Pretty much this.

It'll be a terrible approximation I'm sure, the alcohol-free "whisky" ( ) is - a sugary mess that smells quite convincingly like a blended scotch but certainly doesn't taste like one - but I've just bought another bottle of that anyway because it's quite nice over ice in its own right.
-
Just received my latest order from an online alcohol-free drinks place with a slightly camp name that does some nice Belgian brews you can't get easily over here. Recommended if anyone's doing Dry February too. They're based in the Netherlands but ship for not too much money considering. Figured I'd best stock up before the end of March just in case (although if we leave with no deal, I'll probably go back on the hard spirits ).

One day we might actually grow up as a country, but I doubt it.

He was brilliant like. (I have no clever clogs comment beyond that. )

All those resources that could have been spent on arresting Graham Linehan instead.

Congratulations...?

For a man with precious little character, you're remarkably obsessed with other people's. -
Another perfect illustration of how little you understand about anything.

fuck the Tories

That's handy, no "s" sounds for his lispy son to stumble over.

Of course jealousy is a huge part of it. Leavers can't stand people having things they're too lazy or untalented to obtain themselves.
