Bet you get more of this kind of thing in small towns too:

If it's not that, I suspect it might be Deutschland.

Aye, London just has a higher population density and therefore a higher arsehole density. So to speak.

I actually nearly went there last summer for a parkrun - it's the nearest one to where my family live, they're about an hour further outside Stockholm - but the transport timings didn't quite fit. Very tempted to go back when all this is over and have a whole day there now.

Bit of both, I'd imagine.

You get a mackemraider2 facepalm for that one.

You'll be glad to hear that I and most of the population of central Lewisham gave you the clap (It's Labour as fuck around here so I suppose I don't find it as inherently hypocritical as it would be elsewhere )

There's a trio of militant vegans in the Berlin office we call The Borg.

Apparently yes, so now I'm both reassured and a little worried. But cheers for that, and the other stuff is fairly low-dose too, nothing that should be an actual problem for now. Just one more thing to get anxious about really.

High blood pressure, underactive thyroid, that level of thing. Perspective and all that - there are worse things happening right now, obviously - but I'd still rather not run out. Ironically they did approve my ventolin. I think I know what's happened and could easily explain it in a message to them but my surgery hasn't activated the messaging function in Patient Access.
-
Cool, my repeat prescription has been rejected by my doctor for no obvious reason and I can't get through to the surgery because they're not taking calls. Or letting anyone in through the front door who doesn't already have an appointment. As if my blood pressure wasn't high enough already...

Obviously I understand it from a contagion and public health perspective and it's absolutely the right thing to be doing until we're well on the way down from the peak, but the mental health, social cohesion and (yes) economic impact of a five-month lockdown is just mind-boggling when you stop to think about it. I know I just said earlier today that I was trying to stop thinking about things like this, but whatever.

He's spent all his money on services that tell him when to make soup.

Great news, everybody!

Aye. Look after your own sanity and shut it out. Easier said than done, but I'm trying to make a point of only looking at the big picture - government advice etc. - and the small picture - family, friends, job, immediate neighbourhood. None of us have enough energy to worry about all the stuff in between for months on end.

Ditto, just got back from Hilly Fields/Ladywell Fields and was going to say the same thing for troops' benefit. Still a fair number of people out but loads fewer than before, no groups of bigger than two, and people actually giving each other a properly wide berth as they pass. We'll see what the weekend's like though...
