  1. Mutterings in Germany about restarting the league (behind closed doors, obviously) as early as May 9th. Seems optimistic...
  2. Good thing we have plenty of other things to keep us busy until then!
  3. The NHS has had capacity in part because pretty much everything non-urgent has been cancelled. If we'd locked down earlier, that might not have been quite as necessary. Ditto having to co-opt private facilities and the like.
  4. Blimey, when I said the nursery teacher's influence was nefarious I didn't realise it was that bad.
  5. Do you get bonus points if you're limp-wristed because of the nefarious influence of a nursery school teacher?
  6. Corona Hirus Inventors Now All-conquering THE CLUES WERE ALL THERE
  7. Someone should have trolled him and persuaded him the bloke was called Yasir Al-Canboogie
  8. You'd think they could have come up with something more lucrative than a bunch of hospital kit.
  9. I was saying to a mate the other day that in a weird way it might be better for the population that it's not a Corbyn government in charge right now. Not just because the Tories should have to carry for the can for this (I say "should" because let's be honest, we all know they won't). But more to the point, we know Johnson and his team were surprised (disappointed, even) by just how obedient the public have largely been with regard to the lockdown restrictions - and part of that is absolutely because people with a left to left-of-centre leaning are way more likely to appreciate the bigger social picture, the NHS factors and the need for a cohesive response by themselves, regardless of who's telling them, while more selfish Tory voters will at least follow what they're being told by other Tories to some extent, as we're seeing. Flip that around and you can easily imagine a situation where the big chunk of the population who flat-out dislike like Corbyn would be openly and happily flouting everything "his" government was asking them to do, leading to god knows what kind of outcomes. So basically it's a no-win situation.

I do like wrapping my mouth around a juicy bit of loin, now that you mention it...

We've got a bottle of... sherry? fuck knows, something red and alcoholic anyway, that a friend brought back from Kosovo and decided to bestow upon us. Even the remaining drinker in the household has deemed it only borderline drinkable - think Chinese rice wine, only more so - so I've been trying to use it up in cooking without it ruining whatever it touches. So far it's worked quite nicely in a bolognese sauce but it gave a chilli a weird aftertaste. I'm considering deploying it as drain cleaner instead. Any takers on here before I do so?
  12. I don't agree with that view but I absolutely understand it. Probably makes a big difference where you live/who your neighbours are too.
  13. Totally get this. I've kind of gone the opposite way, in that this thread is almost the only thing I read about the virus - I figure anything important will get mentioned here, so there's no need to be constantly refreshing news sources and driving myself mad that way. No pressure like, fellas.
  14. Mind, there's going to be a real dearth of journalism and punditry on the 2022 World Cup when they all boycott it on the same moral grounds. (They will be doing that, right?)
  15. Of course, his finest role was in this
  16. That'd better be the video he links to, anyway.
  17. In the spirit of personal betterment during lockdown, here's a little language lesson for you all. See if you can pick out the main sentiment...
