We were going down under Fat Sam; we were 8th when he left but we had picked up lucky points and had been dog shite. I can't recall all the games and can't be bothered to look but I do remember an awful game against Wigan which we won late on with an Owen goal. It was about the 4th game we'd drawn or won having been complete rubbish.

Or not bad at all. Fingers firmly crossed.

Brighton had the full Leazes End and it was packed. This was the middle game of 3 home games in 7 days (the last being the rearranged Wrexham game which was played after all other clubs had completed their campaign - the famous sub 8,000 crowd). We played very against Brighton, the ref had a stinker and I'm sure that it was full house of around 32,000.

Still got my ticket stub for this. There was around 14,000 there and a running battle on the way back to the buses. Shite policing and sore winners; mustn't have liked being out sung and having parts of their main stands full of Geordies.
