  1. Do you have any statements from the lad where he explicitly tells us he doesnt want to play on the wing? Peculiar, since he has done that both at marseille and on the french national team. Until then I rather think its pardew who doesnt want to play him there (for some reason)
  2. This is going to be a pathetic window, Im with Aeris on that one.
  3. Sammy in the starting lineup vs Man Utd? I have a feeling thats going to end in tears..
  4. Well parky, You only have to look at the wing. You’re going to have Nani and Valencia flying down one way, and then Gabby Obertan’s pace on the opposite side going the other way.” “That match-up alone should whet the appetite.”
  5. Impressive tbh. Fulham looked solid. And Dempsey looks class. J.A Riise is a shite player though, nothing but backpasses. Reminds me of a certain extra-terrestrial. At least he doesnt fuck around with 10 stepovers first.
  6. Liverpool signing Iniesta is impossible. Us spending 10 million on an Ajax captain with everything aligning is not far off.
  7. Us signing Verthongen would be the equivalent of Liverpool signing Iniesta tbh. Its not IMPOSSIBLE, just extremely unlikely.
  8. A wolves win tonight would be hilarious.
  9. Aye that tactic is deader than Madeleine McCann, and Pardew is as guilty as the parents.
  10. Samba is off to tottenham, and hoilett to manure. Those are not the players we have in mind, think shuffling through the trash and gutter and you are closer to what we will end up with. What is Kuqi up to these days?
  11. Has he been given alot of playing time though? Cant really see how he can play himself into form by being a sub every now and then.
  12. Macheda to QPR on loan? Id love him here tbh, think he could fire us into 7th. shame.
  13. To be fair, Chelsea could have had 5-6 more after steven T hobbled off at SD arena. This is the same team getting served at home, by Villa - a team people on here ridicule. That and the fact that De Gea had a night off at old trafford is together with the comfortable loss away to city the basis of my "globetrotters" comment.. if you think pardew has performed well against the top teams agree to disagree I guess.
  14. You are a good poster Gloomy, and I agree from a purely results based point of view it's difficult to argue with Pardew this season. It's our second campaign since returning to the top flight and we're sitting in seventh place just four points behind the top six. Despite such form I'd be lying if I said serious concerns hadn't begun to emerge during our recent run of games. We havent really played well since that cold night at britannia.
  15. Absolutely spot on, I have nothing to add to what have been said here.
  16. Glad we agree. Struggle to think of a single chance we had at old toilet though aside from the penalty that never was created by a player who has since been left on the bottom shelf in the fridge because he is too positive...
  17. Your missus told me the other night
  18. Tecato, what did you think about the Liverpool game then? Honestly, they fielded one of the worst midfield combinations that Liverpool have put out in years and we didn't try and press them, harry them, try and actually pass the ball between them, we just let them have the ball and do what the hell they wanted with it and every time we got it, we panicked and kicked it long straight back to them. Hence the globetrotters and red carpet analogy. If you disagree thats an honest view, I just sat in the pub and were utterly disappointed in us. When Super-stevie scored i just left the pub in shame. And it wasnt the result, it was how it came about.
  19. I think if O'Neill came in now he'd have a similar positive effect that he's had down the road. That could last the entire rest of the season and into then next. I think he then wouldn't really be backed the way he'd want to be backed in the transfer market and then he'd fuck off again. In the meantime, results would have tailed off again as he began to get disillusioned. This could take in a 1 year period of management or 2 years, doesnt make much odds to me. You're beyond naive is all it boils down to. Its just a hypothetical question. I know noone but pardew is willing to work under the current regime.
  20. You cant pick your team, it picks you mancy. Straight swap - keys on the table - would you swap o`neill for pardew? Tom is on the floor laughing at the suggestion - I get that - any other opinions?
  21. Except your point was that we "roll(ed) out the red carpet and treat(ed) them like the Harlem Globetrotters". We definitely tried more against the Manchester sides. No-one's said we didn't lose comfortably against Man City and no-one's said we didn't deserve to lose that Man Utd game. Im always tongue in cheek, of cource we tried. I still have the feeling Pardew is a bit too grovelly when it comes to the top teams... gut feeling I guess, and our record vs them this fall.
  22. They also have far better wingers, far better wing backs, cabaye and tiote sitting deep and vukcic out of his depth- there is no way aside from Demba magic we had a chance in that game with the tactics pardew went with. It was just waiting to lose really. Sunderland look miles better than we do atm. Fair play.
  23. Lost comfortably against City and were hammered at old trafford but ben arfa saved a point, but alright mt.
  24. Thats what you do, put in spirited performances against the big guns, far from our typical "roll out the red carpet and treat them like the Harlem Globetrotters" approach. Take note Alan. Fair play to the mackems.
