You make a fair point, I guess what I was trying to say is that he offers little else - in modern fotball there is more to a defensive midfielder than breaking up play, in the same way there is more to a striker than only scoring goals. Otherwise why have none of the top clubs gone for Darren Bent.

Why is it such a stupid question to ask where to park in northern london? Im a foreigner so bear with me. ( re mackems thread)
-
He could but there are players similar to tiote who are better going forward. Im just not sure they want that little extra defensive grit if it means 0 goals/0 assists from that position every season. Just my view mind

This barca-team looks bleak compared to previous seasons. Not the same sting to it. Messi carrying them.

What future, the lad is as old as Leazesmag. He should be browsing for mobility scooters not pondering about greener pastures. -

In this age-obsessed fotballing era surely most clubs must think he has already peaked.. -

Doesn't sound simple to me... That was kind of my point -
And Tiote doesnt offer enough going forward. He will never sign a midfielder whos only job is to be a cleaner, that is not enough at Manchester United.

Would be hilarious of the fantastic barca-team went out on their arse against the retirement home from Milano. Not looking likely though...

It is very simple, but then again - when the best people do it seems alot simpler than it really is. It requires a keen eye to identify targets that not only do well in their leagues, but also predict who will make the transition to the premier league without hickups. You need the right man watching for targets, one who knows quality when he sees it regardless of the differences between the leagues. -
Im not as convinced Tiote wll leave. It would have to be for a massive club and Im not sure Tiote is the sort of player these clubs need. They are principally looking for midfield domination not damage control. Add to that a fee of 20 million pounds and I cant see it being such a nobrainer.

Leazes, are you enjoying the fotball at the moment? We are flying high and we are hailed as a model for running a club UK-wide. I dont necessarily agree with all of it and I still think Mike Ashley is a wanker for not buying defenders in january, but still. Are you enjoying watching Ben Arfa play and St.James Park being on fire? -

Because he wants every penny accounted for. We are a club in debt Leazes, not all of the money recieved through transfers will be instanty available for spending. There are agents, wages, sign-on fees and other things which people forget about. In addition to that if 15 of carrolls 35 million were transfered to mike after signing Ba and Cisse, I`d say that is a profit well earned. -
how much have u seen of pieters nurse-boy?

Have you considered going into politics leazes :lol. -
Additionally, am I the only one with the feeling that we have already tried to flip him for a few windows? Just going by pardews comments etc.. Just seems like there is not the plethora of biters they reckoned there would be. Additionally the Cheik loves it here, a bit too much perhaps for Mike and Dekkas taste
-
It will all depend on the Fa-cup. Win that and I believe he is safe regardless of league position. Get knocked out and end up 8th-10th and I think he will walk.

agreed, I think its very much a matter of what pops up for a bargain fee. Otherwise, why not present the plan with Cissè, Santon, Cabaye and Ba to Enrique as a timeframe and sell him on the vision. Shame really, I really really regret that enrique left and for such a petty fee. With him instead of raylor/simpson I think you could safely swap positions with us and arsenal/tottenham, we would easily have had another 5-6 points or more with him onboard. -
Thats the case for every club in the world bar a few Leazes. And the best clubs cant buy ALL the best players. You may get unlucky and they set their eyes on him, or they wont. Add to that we wont have to fear Liverpool taking any of our players this year, and all the other clubs are quite put off by the entire Carroll saga. Additionally, Mike Ashley is a notoriously fickle seller and you wont get much change from 20 million pounds for any of our star players if even that. I am quite certain most clubs are very reluctant to buying players off us. We may lose Tiote this summer but I actually dont think so. He doesnt offer enough going forward for a title-chasing club, Man Utd wont go for him. Chelsea wont either, Essien at his prime was twice the player tiote is. If he sprinkled assists and goals I would be far more worried. City dont need him and tottenham have modric which is - lets face it - even better. Demba Ba might go, but with his knee, at 27, who is gonna give him a 5 -year contract on 80 grand a week? In addition he loves it here and Cisse also arrived, a national mate. Summa summarum: I think our Regime is counting on 20 million pounds from Tiote in order to bring in new players. For me, that is perfectly acceptable. But I actually think they have been trying to move him on for a few windows already. Its just that the market for a pure defensive midfielder with very little offensive qualities - at that price - is very narrow. Teams good and rich enough to stomach the fee needs other qualities, and teams that do need him are below us in the league and cant splash the cash.
-
Totally agree. We do need to bolster the squad for EL though, which should be fun. More bodies in! And it may sate my appetite for Mehdi Abeid, which I am very curious about. Think the lad has it in him. Wasnt he supposed to be a reserve player this year but impressed to the point of starting to train with the first team or smth?

Going on current form - if I was Blanc - Id take Ben Arfa over Nasri. Biased as fuck though.

I honestly think Mike has found his love for fotball again, enough to rectify weak positions at least. as such I have no problems atm. Europe looks very likely now, I am already getting my passport out Gonna be mint like, european nights, fit eastern europe birds, cheap beer. Just need to burn my Barton shirt and get a Ben Arfa one.. -
Agree with the poo transfer, 6 points in 7 matches over both arse and tottenham is - while not imposssible - highly unlikely. Actually, fuck it. Win our last 7, finish season on 74 points, go home... jobs a good`un..

Preferring the Europa league to the CL is like preferring a frozen porky pie to beef tenderloin on a night out. The difference is massive.
