  1. Lets just give pardew credit for every single drible and man beat while we are at it, since everything ben arfa does out there is clearly due to the brilliant approach to this french problem by our manager. There is no way this would be achievable without a thorough ethos-cource done through half a year of ballwatching from the sidelines
  2. I freely admit I havent seen that much of him other than the odd City game... is he really THAT good?
  3. What Williamson has is height and power in the air. He'll give anyone a battle in the air, and as long as we have Coloccini sweeping up behind, he's an adequate back up. Simpson on the other hand, is nowhere near good enough. He rarely cuts any crosses out, he rarely marks his man (instead preferring to man-mark the goal line, on the off chance that he manages to clear from the line). Add to that, he offers literally nothing going forward (often making a negative contribution as he ends a swift passing move by lobbing a cross straight at the keeper, or kicking it into touch). He could do a job for a team in the bottom 5 or 6, but if we aspire to stay in the lofty heights of the top 6, we need to find someone better. With Ben Arfa on right midfield, a good right back who can cause problems going forward would have a whale of time overlapping. Yep, agree with that. Willo doesnt have the ground skills to be a first choice, but I usually trust him in the air. Rarely am I worried on corners and crosses etc, its the 1-2 passes on the ground I fear the most... as he is clumsy as hell in that particular area.
  4. Crossing/long passes are his weakest attributes so taking them away would Improve him on the whole. Have always said that I think he's at his best when he can make short passes, with more space to operate his dribbling should also be even more effective. Spot on, I think he could do a great job in the middle. All he has to do is get past the odd guy and pass it short to ben arfa/ba/cisse.. Its on the wing I have a problem with him with his awful crossing
  5. Used to live in a student complex with alot of gay guys, ended up in a dorm once during a pre-party. They started discussing positions in bed and suddenly one of the guys rammed me up against the wall and bent me forwards to "illustrate", pretty weird tbh. Kind of funny, kind of terrifying.
  6. An entire article based on a strawman arguement about comparing him to Messi. I didnt even read the whole thing, my eyes melted halfway through.
  7. The fact that Jonas is an Argentine International and/or a vice captain wont make me moderate my views on him. I see him as a valuable player to us but looking into the horizon we need more offensive fibers in that position, he is mostly graft and little end-product. Hoilett would be perfect if we could get a better fullback behind him who can take care of himself without needing babysitting.
  8. There is a reason Jonas is vice-captain. Shall we leave it at that? The same way Carragher is the Vice-captain, I guess he is above critizism too.
  9. On top of my head, Tottenham in a cource of a few years from relegation battle to their current squad. Its possible and we should strive to achieve it.
  10. Bollocks Fair enough if you disagree. I dont think he offers enough going forward and his end-product is poor. That doesnt mean I dont rate him at all, I think he is decent. But us suddenly being a top-6 team and not midtable or worse, I think we can do better.
  11. It hasnt, but neither has Williamson and Simpson stopped us from becoming top-5. Does that mean they are top-5 quality. Improving a team is a continuous effort and that includes singling out positions where we can improve. In our current team that is Simpson, WIlliamson and Jonas.
  12. And community. youtube the alison brie + pottery scene
  13. And what caliber would that be? I think Jonas is a tidy enough player, but he is one of our weaker offensive players. Especially if we can get proper fullbacks in.
  14. Not the beverage...well that too, but in this case its a documentary on punitive damages and the justice system in general in the USA. An old lady sued over spilling hot coffee on herself in a macdonalds restaurant, I am sure we have all heard that story. Sounds redicilous, and it is, but perhaps for other reasons than you would think.. HIghly recommended, can be found on the bay of pirates...
  15. Sounds like another Jonas to me. Maybe Im spoiled but after seeing what ben arfa does on the other flank, this just doesnt cut it for me anymore. I want wingers who constantly upset their defense, like that Kerim Frei lad at Fulham. 18 years old too, fuck me. Is that too tall of an order?
  16. I agree mate, but Guthrie has developed nicely the last season - if this continues I wouldnt be surprised if he became good enough to hold down a starter position in a upper-table team. The lad has ambition, there is nothing wrong with that.
  17. I have actually watched a few games where I have in particular focused on Simpson and his every touch and movement. If you do that for 90 minutes, you quickly realise he is simply not a good fotballer. Also did it with williamson a few weeks back and fuck me if half his passes isnt back to the keeper, while nearly stumbling/falling over with every touch.
  18. The only one responsible for the fantastic performances is Ben Arfa. He might have had to adjust his attitude a bit in order to get playing time, but you were always going to get these performances with him. Dicipline and attitude can always be improved though, and for this pardew deserves credit, but his offensive contributions are his alone. Even pardew has admitted he just lets Ben arfa do his own thing offensively. I always felt he should have been on the pitch from the second he was fit and not half a year later. Sir Bobby Robson couldnt even get Romario to show up for training, yet he started him every week. Sometimes the talent is just too great not to. Training is just that - training for match performances. It means nothing if you cant deliver when it really counts. Bobby Robson, who was in charge of him at PSV Eindhoven, is almost as eloquent. "A phenomenal player with the most exquisite technique," he said. "But uncoachable. He had so much talent maybe he thought he didn't need it. I would count up the players on the training ground and Romario would be missing. I'd see him going into the dressing-room and call him over. I was simply ignored. But you forgave him everything because he was such a phenomenon."
  19. We'll see if we can keep a hold of him after the Euro's, England's next right back you know! aye
  20. For the quoted wage demands ( around 25k a week afaik) we could probably pretty much pick and choose from Ligue 1, selling him would cover a transfer fee too.. Sounds a bit FM-tastic perhaps, but I wont try to hide the fact that I dont think his ability justifies 25 grand a week. As a fringe player he is worth 10k for the squad depth he offers from the bench, and it seems like the NUFC regime sort of agrees since negotiations seems to have stalled somewhat. I hope someone better graces that position come august, simple as.
